Was Micheal set-up to go after Walt? I was talking with my husband about what lead Michael to go find Walt? I think this was a set-up or test, that he didn't pass. This is why I believe this: 1. I might be wrong but I don't think that the computer was able to input info besides the numbers. So I think that the Others,Dharma,etc. we're the ones whom Michael was talking to.
2.They told Michael a place to come after Walt. While Locke, Jack,and Sawyer followed Michael's trail, Sawyer told them that the ocean was on the other side of them on their way back with the tailies. Meaning Michael was headed somewhere other than where they had just come from. Leading me to believe he had to have been told some place specific to go. The only thing is Michael logically should have gone back to where the tailies were leaving because that's where the Others took the most people and children. He would be most likely to encounter them in that area.
3.Zeke and the Others show up. After Michael is lead on this second goosechase to find Walt, the rest of the crew run into Zeke and Others moments after hearing shots and losing Michael's trail. That seemed very weird to me because the encounter with the others would have never happened if Micheal hadn't followed that message on the computer.
4. On the Dharma Initiative video Dr. Marvin Candle stated that there would be ".......temptations for them to use the computer for things other than entering the numbers, but the computer was to be strictly used for entering the num- bers. So I think that this was a warning that there might be a set-up coming. In conclusion, I don't know who would have set Micheal up or why, but I would love any feedback on the above info!!!!

Exactly!!! I can't wait to see what happened to Michael while the crew was following him. Also it seems that Claire will soon have to go on her own goosechase for Aaron's well-being. It seems to be more cases of the losties having to confront the unknown about the island, in order to help themselves and their loved ones. What do you think?

Here's a way out theory for you. Henry Gale said he was staying in a cave on the NORTH shore of the island. It took him 2 days to make it to the general vicinity of the losties' camp. When Michael left heading NORTH, it took roughly a day for him to make it halfway to where Henry Gale was staying, with Jack, Locke, and Sawyer in hot pursuit. My theory is that the Others let Michael pass. I think they had a deal with Walt. Walt would do something for them, but only if Michael was allowed to come to the NORTH side of the island. Maybe it was to be with Walt, OR maybe it was to get him away from some danger back at camp lostie that Walt knows is coming.

Thanks for your theory. I do agree that maybe the Others let Michael pass, that is if they didn't catch him or shot him (remember we heard shots before the Others came out). Just can't wait to see!:)

Oh, I didn't mean to suggest that Michael wasn't set up BTW. I think the two ideas are somewhat complementary. The others clearly have a sharpshooter. If they had meant to kill Michael at that point, I think they would have. Likely, Jack et al would have happened upon his corpse instead of some shell casings. I think they allowed him to pass, but they may indeed have sent him chasing after a diversion so that they could have their little meet and greet with the losties.
