Maybe I missed something, but, when Eko was in the hatch, to me, he just looked down the hall, saw the door open, messed bed, then later knew they had a male prisoner. How? Did I miss something?

He knows that room was filled with guns at one point. He deduced that the addition of a cot that was clearly slept in could mean only one thing and put two and two together. Also he may have found the change of button shifts interesting to add to his suspicion.

Agreed..he is very astute and could sense the tension in the room when he walked in there..and then to see the room...

Do not underestimate Mr. Eko. He's a very smart man. But I think anyone could figure that something fishy is going on when there's a messy bed in a tight little room that use to be for something else.

No way. It was totally confusing. And the reason it was confusing was because they CUT Charlie's one scene! In the promo pics you see Charlie with Eko. It was clear to me that he told Eko about the man in the hatch. When the scene was cut, it seemed totally unbelievable that Eko would see a cot and then conclude there was a man being held prisoner and be so sure about it when he went to Jack. I thought for sure when Jack asked Eko whether Locke said anything, Eko was going to say, "Charlie told me". It was the only real explanation and I'm sorry the scene was cut.

perhaps Eko just took a wild guess after what he saw in the hatch and figuered out that he was right after Jack's reaction
but it is of course possible that we find out later that Charlie told him about it

Didn't seem confusing to me at all... why wouldn't you figure that SOMETHING was up when you look in the gun armory (where you know there are no more guns) and you see a used cot.... you know it wouldn't be YOUR people sleeping down there (typically only 2 at a time are in the hatch, and there are bunk beds...). This is just fans being picky... it's not that unbelievable.

also....henry was talking in the bathroom with jck (jack was trying to shush him). then later on henry mentions the walls are paper thin and he could hear everything.

so it seems reasonable to assume that eko could have heard jack trying to shush someone. he might not have heard what was being said...but he would have been ble to make out 2 male voices. then the cot in t he bunker confirmed it.

If I was Henry I would have started screaming "help" the second one of my captors was telling me to shush because of someone entering the bunker.

But on topic, my guess is that he simply saw the messed up bed and assumed something was going on for the bed to be located in the vault.

They did cut a scene with Charlie, which most of us had thought was where Eko finds out about the man, but maybe they realized it was redundant after Eko saw the bed in the vault.

My thoughts exactly. I agree. :)

I'm only sorry that they cut that scene with Charlie because it looked as if we were going to find out why Eko needed all those likable trees.

Glad I started this. Also, glad I didn't miss something. But, I'm not buying it. I see a bed in the room where the guns were stored - my first thought (especially being on an island) isn't "they've got a prisoner", I would think, someone wanted to take a nap in private, someone is perhaps semi-ill, someone was getting some action! I hear 2 voices in the bathroom, male voices, even if the walls are paper thin, I doubt I could distiguish that one of the voices wasn't one of the losties, it could have been one of the background losties that Eko hasn't ever even spoke too, my first thought isn't - they have a prisoner. Perhaps a scene was cut, but, I don't think that they have a male prisoner is a logical asumption for Eko to make.

That is what I am trying to figure out. I like the short little reminder of the whole tree thing.

And I didn't think it was at all confusing on Eko figuring out there was somebody there. He is very smart, and also very street smart.

but also....look at eko when he confronts jack. jack is a horrible liar...cant hide his reaction on his face...and didnt even try to deny it.

you see....eko knew that there were others on the island...he confronted and fought with them and knew about them. so he is probably more careful then anyone else. while he might not have been 100% sure before he asked jack...he knew as soon as he asked jack...which is prolly why he asked jack and not locke.

As soon as I saw that Echo looked down the hall I said "Oh, he knows something is not right." He also questioned Locke on being alone. If any of you have kids you know you can walk into a room and know right away that they are hiding something. It's in the air so to speak. Well that is what happened here, something was in the air and Echo knows how to connect the dots.

I imagine that Henry probably was in deep need of a shower after his few days; that would also tip someone off. :ohwell:

How did he know?

Cuz he's the biggest bad *** on the island, THAT'S how he knew!!! Hell even the monster is afraid of Mr. Eko!

What on earth? Am I missing something? How could Charlie know about Henry to tell Eko about him? I can more easily attribute it to Eko being an observant person.

Easy. Sayid just told him all about him in the last episode. ("Why are you telling me this Sayid?")

btw, your avatar cracked me up. Thanks for the laugh.

Eko communicates with the monster still. The monster sees all and shares this with him. Believe it!

who would sleep in a room that opens only from the outside,
not to mention that has a code to open only 1~2 people know?
whatever is it you put in there, is because you wish it would stay there. that`s my reasoning

I know this is a little off the subject, but what do you guys think Mr. Eko is doing with the trees? I mean why does he need a saw after he cut them down, is he building something?

By the way, those interested in the Charlie scene - it is the first 4 or something pictures in ABC's gallery for "Maternity Leave", no doubt it'll be on the DvDs...
I think something had to go and they really couldn't cut anything else...
