There are two easy answers:

1) Just an oversight. In an episode of That 70's Show, the kids take a college tour at Marquette, where they have the Marquette Golden Eagles posters up and around; however, it was in the nineties that Marquette changed their name to Golden Eagles from the Warriors.

2) It's 2008 or whatever, not 2004.

I say it's an oversight. If it's not, well... then I guess we'll get some wild theories if it's not.

Hmm. Are we sure that graphic was in the actual episode? And that it even marks present time? (For example, I have 2 posters on my walls, one saying Montreal 2005, as in the FINA Long Course Championships scheduled for July, and another with "Beijing 2008.")

Correct. Sydney 2000. It makes sense. I had the Athens poster in 1999. (Okay, I should explain. I'm not scary-obsessed. It's a show of support, as I know a few of the swimmers).

Location doesn't really matter. If you're a fan of the games, or even if you just happen to come into contact with that kind of poster, it would be worth grabbing. (Um, if you sell them right after the Olympics, they go for mad cash).

the poster is for occupational therapy week. Being a med tech and having a week celebrated in the hospital for such things, these posters are not made up that far in advance and usually only hung during the celebration week. I could be looking too hard, its just odd

Just checked. In the actual airing (even in HDTV) we don't see that poster. In fact, it's shot from a totally different angle, and I don't think that's even the mark they ended up using.

However, if you look on the long rectangular window behind Michael in that pic, you will see the same dancing figure that is on the wall poster behind Walt's mom when she walks in.

I think there may be some connection with that artwork since it is shown in 2 places.....

He said that there was a calendar in the background of Raised by Another with the year 2000 and "some other instances". No link... this was the old fashioned method of communication(face to face!).
