View Full Version : If Walt is 10 years old
diabolo237 01-19-2005, 11:08 PM Then Michael was making a card for his second birthday in this shot, but the poster in the background says its the year 2000? Walt would only be six if it were 2004 on the island. Blow it up and check it out. What are they doing to us now? Some sort of time warp?

Fast Eddie 01-19-2005, 11:12 PM There are two easy answers:
1) Just an oversight. In an episode of That 70's Show, the kids take a college tour at Marquette, where they have the Marquette Golden Eagles posters up and around; however, it was in the nineties that Marquette changed their name to Golden Eagles from the Warriors.
2) It's 2008 or whatever, not 2004.
I say it's an oversight. If it's not, well... then I guess we'll get some wild theories if it's not.
indiansummer 01-19-2005, 11:12 PM Hmm. Are we sure that graphic was in the actual episode? And that it even marks present time? (For example, I have 2 posters on my walls, one saying Montreal 2005, as in the FINA Long Course Championships scheduled for July, and another with "Beijing 2008.")

Do you think maybe you are thinking too hard? ;D
That's the trouble with Lost. It makes us crazy :fear2:
Lost_In_Louisiana 01-19-2005, 11:31 PM Weren't the summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000?
That could explain the poster - they put out those kinds of materials as soon as they know they'll be the host city - sometimes 6 -7 years in advance.
Fast Eddie 01-19-2005, 11:33 PM (previous post i'm referring toI feel like an idiot for not noticing that myself. I was there for the Olympics. Funny how the mind forgets.
indiansummer 01-19-2005, 11:34 PM Correct. Sydney 2000. It makes sense. I had the Athens poster in 1999. (Okay, I should explain. I'm not scary-obsessed. It's a show of support, as I know a few of the swimmers).

yeah but Michael is from NYC, the poster was for OT(Occupational Therapy) Month 2000
indiansummer 01-19-2005, 11:37 PM Location doesn't really matter. If you're a fan of the games, or even if you just happen to come into contact with that kind of poster, it would be worth grabbing. (Um, if you sell them right after the Olympics, they go for mad cash).
diabolo237 01-19-2005, 11:39 PM the poster is for occupational therapy week. Being a med tech and having a week celebrated in the hospital for such things, these posters are not made up that far in advance and usually only hung during the celebration week. I could be looking too hard, its just odd
indiansummer 01-19-2005, 11:43 PM ...Do we even know for sure if this poster made it into final edits?
If it did, I'm pretty sure it's just a blunder.
jacknkate1 01-19-2005, 11:44 PM its a good catch, and who knows....maybe there was some type of time warp thing, but I think it would be easier for all if it were just an oversight.....
creme 01-19-2005, 11:46 PM Occam's razor dictate's it's a blunderful oversight.
lostscrapper 01-19-2005, 11:57 PM Someone I know mentioned to me last week that there have been lots of 2000 calendars in the backgrounds of the flashbacks. I hadn't noticed. Anyone else seen any other 2000 calendars?
Fast Eddie 01-19-2005, 11:59 PM Someone I know mentioned to me last week that there have been lots of 2000 calendars in the backgrounds of the flashbacks.* I hadn't noticed.* Anyone else seen any other 2000 calendars?
Maybe it is US who are in the timewarp and this show was actually made in 2000....
EUUUUWEEE EUUUUWEE EUUUUWEEE...
Tune in again next week for ... The Twilight Zone.
indiansummer 01-20-2005, 12:09 AM Just checked. In the actual airing (even in HDTV) we don't see that poster. In fact, it's shot from a totally different angle, and I don't think that's even the mark they ended up using.
Lost_In_Louisiana 01-20-2005, 12:24 AM However, if you look on the long rectangular window behind Michael in that pic, you will see the same dancing figure that is on the wall poster behind Walt's mom when she walks in.
I think there may be some connection with that artwork since it is shown in 2 places.....

I'm looking at a computer screen. Someone in China is looking at a computer screen. It's unrelated.
Don't overthink this.

Did that person cite specifics? If so, can you link to the thread?
dramapunk 01-20-2005, 12:32 AM Naw my friend was in the hospitle last month we went to see him and
IslandSecret 01-20-2005, 01:31 AM Have you heard of the <LOOP theory about this show?> The posters would make sense with that theory. Go to the ABC Lost website for more info.

He said that there was a calendar in the background of Raised by Another with the year 2000 and "some other instances". No link... this was the old fashioned method of communication(face to face!).
