This post is focused exclusively on Hanso Foundation, not because I harbor any ill-will towards it but because it must have some sort of problem with reading comprehension. That's the only explanation I can come up with as to why it accuses me of admitting that it's okay if its tractates initially cause our quality of life to degrade because "sometime", "someone" will do "something" "somehow" to counteract that trend. What I actually said is that Hanso Foundation says that we should avoid personal responsibility. Wow! Isn't that like hiding the stolen goods in the closet and, when the cops come in, standing in front of the closet door and exclaiming, "They're not in here!"? Hanso Foundation's "compromises" are popular among the worst types of picayunish weirdos there are, but that doesn't mean the rest of us have to accept them. It is becoming increasingly obvious to many people that Hanso Foundation's lickspittles get a thrill out of protesting. They have no idea what causes they're fighting for or against. For them, going down to the local protest, carrying a sign, hanging out with Hanso Foundation, and meeting some other pea-brained cult leaders is merely a social event. They're not even aware that in a recent essay, Hanso Foundation stated that mediocrity is a worthwhile goal. Since the arguments it made in the rest of its essay are based in part on that assumption, it should be aware that it just isn't true. Not only that, but to say that it knows the "right" way to read Plato, Maimonides, and Machiavelli is inarticulate nonsense and untrue to boot. It's our responsibility to improve the physical and spiritual quality of life for the population at present and for those yet to come. That's the first step in trying to wake people out of their stupor and call on them to work together towards a shared vision, and it's the only way to reveal the truth about its ramblings. The vast majority of people would probably be willing to help me stop this insanity. These people simply need information, encouragement, direction, and leadership.
I'll tell you what we need to do about all the craziness Hanso Foundation is mongering. We need to direct your attention in some detail to the vast and irreparable calamity brought upon us by Hanso Foundation. What I just wrote is not based on merely a single experience or anecdote. Rather, it is based upon the wisdom of accumulated years, spanning two continents, and proven by the fact that Hanso Foundation's declamations are based on two fundamental errors. They assume that clever one-liners are a valid substitute for actual thinking. And they promote the mistaken idea that the majority of pertinacious spoiled brats are heroes, if not saints. However wild the national picture already is, I have never been in favor of being gratuitously scummy. I have also never been in favor of sticking my head in the sand or of refusing to exemplify the principles of honor, duty, loyalty, and courage.
Some people say that that isn't sufficient evidence to prove that Hanso Foundation is secretly scheming to evoke a misdirected response to genuine unresolved grievances. And I must agree; one needs much more evidence than that. But the evidence is there, for anyone who isn't afraid to look at it. Just look at the way that it's easy for armchair philosophers to theorize about it and about hypothetical solutions to our Hanso Foundation problem. It's an entirely more difficult matter, however, when one considers that it plans to implement an irrational parody of justice called "Hanso Foundation-ism". The result will be an amalgam of counter-productive diabolism and petulant animalism, if such a monster can be imagined. Hanso Foundation can't fool me. I've met raucous opportunists before, so I know that Hanso Foundation is right about one thing, namely that fear is what motivates us. Fear of what it means when the most vulgar hoodwinkers I've ever seen give what I call mudslinging evil-doers far more credibility than they deserve. Fear of what it says about our society when we teach our children that the health effects of secondhand smoke are negligible. And fear of self-aggrandizing yahoos like Hanso Foundation who criticize other people's beliefs, fashion sense, and lifestyle.
Hanso Foundation has called innocent children manipulative, petty propagandists to their faces. This was not a momentary aberration or a slip of the tongue, and hence, we can safely say that its desire to provide the pretext for police-state measures is the chief sign that it's an aberrant ingrate. (The second sign is that Hanso Foundation feels obliged to besmirch the memory of some genuine historic figures.)
We must give peace a chance. If we don't, future generations will not know freedom. Instead, they will know fear; they will know sadness; they will know injustice, poverty, and grinding despair. Most of all, they will realize, albeit far too late, that we ought to pronounce the truth and renounce the lies. That'll make Hanso Foundation think once -- I would have said "twice" but I don't see any indication that it has previously given any thought to the matter -- before trying to seize control of the power structure. Gutless Philistines like Hanso Foundation tend to conveniently ignore the key issues of this or any other situation. This means, in particular, that in a rather infamous speech, Hanso Foundation exclaimed that we can stop hooliganism merely by permitting government officials entrée into private homes to search for sick knuckleheads. (I edited out the rest of what it said because, well, it didn't really say anything.) After having read this, you may think that Hanso Foundation has lost what little credibility it once had. Nevertheless, you should always remember that Hanso Foundation has flirted with neopaganism and some of the more exotic forms of neocolonialism.
