View Full Version : Not enough Jack this season
desmondslosthairstraighteners 03-04-2006, 08:52 PM The reason I loved season 1 was because it was all focused around Jack, White Rabbit was a fantastic episode, the pilot episode was arguably the best (IMO it was, Walkabout following up as a close second, Finale takes third) that featured Jack alot. I absolutely loved the opening three episodes of season 2, and from what ive heard on these boards, everyone else did too. The reason: episode 1 of season 2 was Jack-centric. He's the best actor on the show, the producers gave him a raise higher than the rest of the cast, so use him more often!
The last Jack-centric episode was poor, and maternity leave was an ok episode, but it didnt feature enough Jack. All he did was come over and check up on the baby, oh and cover Gale's mouth. I'd really like to see Jack in future episodes make the decisions, with Locke getting angrier and angrier, and hopefully their paths will cross, and boy will there be violence.
You guys might be thinking im totally raping Jack's asshole here, but believe it or not my favourite character is Locke, i just recognize that Jack is a better actor, the emotion he portrays not just in his words but in his facial expressions alone make the show amazing.
But anyway, i'm glad to see Locke pissed off again. Knocking over those plates, yeh you showed that crockery! I think he was being too much of a pussy and not enough of the GREAT WHITE HUNTER like he was last season. When was the last time any of them went hunting?
P.S. We need more massively populated hikes, like in the finale with about 7 people, we need some more of that.
HelloooClareece 03-05-2006, 01:21 AM Matthew Fox is a very good actor but Terry O'Quinn has him beat by a mile. As for Jack, I've seen enough for awhile.
Hurley, Locke, Ana, Eko and most especially Danielle....I want to see more of them.
The Partyman 03-05-2006, 03:42 AM But we've had LOADS of Jack this Season!
We're (almost) two-thirds through and it feels like we've have hardly seen any of some of the other characters.
Krystal 03-05-2006, 07:19 AM Well, some might feel that we haven't seen enough of the other characters because there is too many characters on Lost lol. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing more of Jack because I adore Matthew Fox. As for who is the better actor between him and Terry O'Quinn, it's personal preference. :)

I agree. Jack fans shouldn't be complaining!! He's been in every episode (bar 48 Days) and still dominates the show as the most focal character. IMO we have seen TOO much Jack this series. I say it's time for Jack to stand back and give some other characters some screen time.
For me there is not enough SAYID and CHARLIE this season  Two of my favourite characters:frown: . Jack has more than his fair share.
100%
PS - I think Foxy and Terry are both equally strong actors, but Naveen is better than both of them.
The_Sheppardess 03-05-2006, 09:42 AM Thanks desmondslosthairstraighteners for sharing your opinion on this.
I'd love to see more Jack (the whole season could just be Jack episodes and I'd be a happy camper  ) but I also realize the importance of the other characters and I know a lot of them have gotten pushed into the background with the arrival of the tailies. (look at the bright side, at least those fans don't have to hear about how their favorite character gets too much screen time every week. ;))
As far as who the better actors are, I think it's pretty clear that the entire cast is uber talented. I happen to think that Matthew is exceptional in his role, but Terry and the others are also doing awesome jobs with their characters too. But of course these kinds of observations are really subjective, and are more than a little influenced by our favorite characters. :p
Passport 03-05-2006, 09:59 AM I think Jack has had an awful lot of screen time this season and he gets more annoying (/opinion). I just feel characters like Claire (for example) are shelved until their character-centric episodes while we focus on "Jack and Locke argue over who gets to press the pretty button today" every episode. I know its important for that to happen, but, when I feel like drama has been sacrificed for this it gets very annoying...
Case in Point: Shannon's Death
Due to the almighty amount of Jack and Locke, the Shannon saw Walt in the jungle was dropped and we saw nothing of Shannon. It would have been much better if she was getting nightmares or ill or something because she saw him. It just annoys me...
I know Jack is meant to be the main character, but he is simple and flat and I'd rather watch anything else than him going on about the button...
Also if he gets 3 episodes and some of the other fan faves (Sayid, Charlie, Sawyer, Eko) only get 1 episode, it would really really annoy me.
[/frustration vented.]
By the way CF - Jack was also missing in Abandoned (if memory serves correctly)

I agree!

I agree more!
