What kind of laptop do you have? D'oh you said Dell! Sorry! And are you using it unplugged? I have a Dell and the pic is better on it if the power is plugged in (it seems brighter) I have watched Lost on it and there should be a software that the DVD sets up? (will check on this tho) Not media center or Media player but it was pretty good. Cine-something or other, might have come with Sonic

wow, thats a pretty big screen for a laptop. is it that everything is fuzzy? or the screen is dark? or it jumps around and isn't smooth or what?

Forgive me for being totally technology impaired, but would I need to have any special video card in my laptop to view the DVDs? It never even crossed my mind to watch them on here. It would make my life wonderful if I could pop a Lost DVD in my laptop while my 8 yr old is watching Wrestling Mania DVDs on the television LOL

Yes, you do need a standard video card to see anything and all computers/laptops come with one... however you only need a special video card for games and gaming.. As long as you have a DVD player installed in your laptop... you're good to go.

I watch mine on a HP Pavilion 1280x760 widescreen laptop and I love it! For me, it's superclear and better than watching it on my TV. I use InterVideo WinDVD that came installed, and includes an easy one-click button for screencaps!

Does anybody here happen to know if it's possible to watch certain parts of the episodes frame by frame with this - or some other - software? I searched the help function but couldn't find anything ... :frown: Thanx a lot in advance for your help!

i'll have to try that winDVD program....the colors are fine, its just.....slightly blurry, its not dvdv quality...mpgs look better on my computer than actual dvds...i have a 256 mb nvidia graphics card, its a new and powerful computer so nothing is out of date...might my color settings be wrong?

Are you sure it's not just a matter of the high resolution of your monitor compared to the one of your TV?

shouldnt the higher resolution make things look BETTER?

Starrox

No, not in this case...
NTSC-DVDs usually have a resolution of 720 x 480 pixels (PAL-DVDs have 720 x 576 pixels). Now, unless you have HDTV or an LCD-TV or similar with a higher resolution, a "NTSC-TV" only has a resolution of 704x480 pixels, meaning that a DVD has more pixels than needed. On the other hand, if you watch a DVD in full screen mode on your monitor, there are simply put not enough pixels for every pixel on your monitor, so each pixel on the DVD becomes many pixels on your screen and this makes things look blurry.

thanks a lot...i trade metallica dvds in my spare time...i had downloaded an mpg of a concert, and it looked...beautiful, perfect quality. i traded for the 2 disc dvd of it (2 discs meaning its compressed less)...ive seen screenshots online, its perfect quality. it looked like CRAP on my laptop, looked normal on my tv....maybe im being a little picky, but i wish it would look just a little better.

also, because of the extremely high resolution of my monitor, everything looked REALLY small on my laptop when i first got it, and i raised the dpi to about 110% normal size...i suppose thats probably not helping the case either. thanks for your help

Thanx a lot for notifying me of how outdated my version of WinDVD is, GloryQuest! ;) It's too bad they don't simply offer a free patch to upgrade ... ;) Well, I ve got a few more months to work out a solution for that.

are there any easter eggs on the dvd? and if so do you think you could find them better on a laptop? i haven't tried yet.
