Could have been done to death, by now, but I just watched the episode undistracted and uninterrupted... Libby says Hurley stepped on her foot. Lie! He was THE last person on the plane and he boarded from the front. Libby was in the tail section and must have been seated since the plane was about to take off.

yeah I noticed that too....
She was real :"funny" when Hurley was talking to her, you know, watching what he was saying really closely. They have met before... I bet.

I have to disagree. I've just watched and although she has a strange way about her, Libby does describe Hurley's arrival to a Tee. How do you know he came in through the front of the plane? I thought he came in at the back. However! I DO NOT fly so I don't know nothin bout planes and plane door locations so please be gentle with me.
Now if she is an "Other" and I don't think so, she could have been fed the info by some other "Other" that WAS on the plane...oh boy you could theorize till the cows come home...(if they don't get abducted that is....)

My other observation. She mentions the washer and dryer being newer than the rest of the things in the hatch. I wonder how much newer?

When Hurley asks her if he knew her from somewhere else..she does falter abit before saying.. "You mean other than the flane?" and Hurley repeats "Flane?" kinda wierd exchange there I thought. I actually think she worked at the pysch ward Hurley spent some time in. Which brings me to another theory of mine that I can not proove. I think in Season 1 Episode Numbers, that the doctor that greets Hurley at the front desk is an elderly Dr. Candle. If the Dharma movie was made in the mid-seventies and Hurley spent some time in the ward in the very late 90's or early 2000's...the aging would fit. But as I say...I have no proof. Just my hunch.

Well, when Hurley is going to his seat, he passes by Walt and Michael and gives Walt the thumbs up  . Since seats face front, I'm assuming he came from the front.

Also, she said he was wearing his headphones when he got on the plane and stepped on her foot. He didn't put his headphones on until after had had given the thumbs up to Walt.

I don't think she knew him from the plane at all. The way she described him was more the way he looked running through the airport. Of course what she described about Hurley (the sweating, the stepping on the foot, the headphones, etc.) is what most of us knew about Hurley from 1)watching the show, 2) ever knowing an overweight person.

People that are overweight, especially to the degree the Hurley is, tend to get hot and sweat a decent amount more than one would consider normal. I truly don't think that Libby has let on all that she knows. I think if she was on the plane, which I doubt, that she is a "plant" from DHARMA. Not necessarily the Island DHARMA team, but those remote agents of DHARMA that were assisting in getting our Losties to the island.

im guessing she lied also. she hesitated when asked if she knew him. like she had to think of a quick answer. i may be wrong but i still think she a escape-e from the psych ward.

Ok we'll agree that's she's not spilling all. The "plant" from Dharma is a good theory..would explain her being on the plane...because I really think she was.
Again...I think she knew Hurley from the psych ward..but not as an escapee, as a clinical psychologist.

In "The Other 48 Days" she is right there on the waters edge soaking wet when Anna Lucia takes off her jacket and dives back into the water to help someone.

It would be good if she was part of dharma it will give the show a huge kick story wise. but i don't think Libby is a part dharma.

It is possible that she was doing something in the front of the plane, possibly checking some piece of luggage, or something, before heading to her seat. Or Hurly may have stepped on her foot on the the plane to Australia, if they had the same flight. I'm not saying she definitely wasn't lying, but there are definitely ways to explain how she could have been telling the truth. Honestly, I don't think it's realisitic for there to have been two Others infiltrating the tail section and only one infiltrating the much larger main group of survivors.

Hi,

I don't trust Libby all that much. She was lying about Hurley stepping on her foot. She indeed described him wearing headphones with the comic book, but he only took out those two after he was seated. On his way to his seat (he came in through the front of the plane) he didn't bump into anyone because everybody was already seated.

Also, in Collision, she accuses Ana-Lucia of being a bad judge of character, for having captured Nathan. If my memory serves me correctly, she herself went up to Ana-Lucia and said that Nathan creeped her out.

Either she is one slick Other, or she is more mental than the patients she claims to treat. (what if she isn't actually a psychiatrist, but a patient herself?)

I haven't seen all eps yet (up to Maternity Leave), but I'll be watching her, because I would hate Hurley getting hurt in any way.

IF this doesn't prove that Hurley was in the mental hospital, I don't know what does. Look at this photo, (the large version) and look at their feet. This is from the upcoming Dave epi.

Libby, could very well be an Other though, especially since we haven't seen a back story yet. If we see a back story, I will physically eat these words.

I think that libby's conversation with Hurley is better understood if you listen from the perspective of a clinical psychologist. She might have lied about him stepping on her foot to see his reaction, how guilty he would feel. Also how carefully she was listening to his responses would make sense since she is trained to analyze people's comments. I think she was trying to feel Hurley out, maybe because of her interest in him.
