View Full Version : Mr. Paik connected to DHARMA??

I've been pondering this for a while now....So Mr. Paik sends Jin (and, by default Sun) first to Sydney and then to LA to "deliver watches". I don't buy it.

First of all, ever heard of FedEx? I know the reference was made to them being expensive, but heck the plane tix, hotels, meals, etc. would probably equal the cost of the watch, and you can insure things shipped this way. And I do understand the "niceness" of hand-delivering something, but...this seems a bit too extreme.

Second point is that Mr. Paik sends a "tail" to follow the (un)happy couple, presumably out of fear that Jin will flee. So you're afraid the guy's going to bolt and you send him anyway? With a bilingual tail? Why not just deliver the "message" before they left? Too far out to believe. And, there again, we now have a third travelling party to buy tix, meals, hotels, etc. for.

Then, last night I re-watched "In Translation" and noticed in the scenes with Mr. Paik an extremely suspicious eye (his right). I think it's fake. I know we've seen a glass eye before (Arrow Bunker) and there has been speculation about it being Dr. Candle's. Maybe it was Mr. Paik's. Any thoughts?

i was refering to the fact that the guy in the orientation film (candle?) was oriental and so is paik; not to mention the i ching and several other eastern spiritual references in the themes of the show etc.

But, it does seems approriate for the Mafia-esque atmosphere that surrounds Mr. Paik. Considering when Mr. Paik sends Jin to the inspector to "tell him that Mr. Paik is disappointed" and by "disappointed", he means "threaten and cause bodily harm", then Jin giving watches to Mr. Paik's "associates" probably means that his "associates" are probably being made into "made men" with in his organization.

However, I would be disappointed if it turns out Mr. Paik is NOT involved with the Hanso Foundation or Dharma.
