I just had my sweet 16 last Saturday, and so my friends and I spent the whole day out on the town. I had a lot of fun, and was glad to spend my sweet 16th that way.

But i was wondering, for those who have also celebrated their sweet 16, how did you spend your day? Or for those who haven't had their sweet 16, how do you want to spend yours?

Ok, so sweet 16 birthdays are like weddings in my family. A wedding without a groom. I had on a beautiful white dress and the ceremony was my sister placed a promise ring on my hand, symbolizing to save my self for the man I marry and my father places the shoes on my feet and my mother places the crown on my head. It's rather sweet actually. I had my girl friends walk out in the wedding and of course they had a guy to walk down with. My little sister carried in the shoes and ring.

The party is like a reception, again minus the groom. Speeches of people who know me well and I and my best friend sang a song to me. I had a cake to cut and everything. It was a whole lot of fun. And I'll never forget it. Of course I had a photographer, dj and limo. Like I said, wedding without a groom. My family rocks. I'm so glad it's a tradition.

Oh no my 16th went quite badly, spent most of the day with my friends and then went out with my family for dinner were after the meal my nanna told them to bring me a clown cake with candles in front of all these people, i just wanted to die and never be seen again. i suppose she was only trying to make it a fun birthday i dont blame her, she didnt know thats its just not cool.

Happy Birthday! Anyways sweet sixteens aren't very big here in Ireland we wait for the 18th and 21st. I had a great sixteenth birthday a couple of years ago now but my mom took me to mexico for a month and we had a huge barbeque on the big day and my mexican aunt made a huge deal of it and invited her whole family and it was honestly one of the best birthdays i've had. My 18th and 21st turned out to be big let downs.

I don't think much happened on my sweet sixteen either. I had a small party, got my drivers license, and went out driving. It was great to be able to drive on my own! I'm sure you guys all felt the same way!

Well happy Sweet 16 darlin'! I didn't really have a party or anything, I believe that my father brought my sister and I to NYC for a birthday trip (we are twins)... it was much fun.

Just thought I'd drop in and wish you a happy 16th for last week hopeinspiresaction. I had a birthday on Thursday just gone, but sadly it's a long way past my 16th. So much so in fact that I can't actually remember now what I did on my 16th!! lol (Except that I could legally buy cigarettes in this country!)
All the best
M

My 16th is nearly 3 years ago. And i actually can't remember it. I prolly went to cinema or something. 16th birthdays aren't really that important in Ireland. We focus more on 18th's and 21st's!!

Happy belated Sweet 16 hopeinspiresaction!! My sweet 16 was ages ago, lol. My family and friends threw me a surprise party, which I naturally found out about beforehand. It was fun, though!
