Probably not significant but I thought it was odd when Locke said that to A.L. It's the same thing that Desmond said to Jack when Jack was running the steps of the stadium.

I'd forgotten that Desmond said the same thing to Jack at the stadium. Now I'm wondering if Ana will be able to find the parachute and "lift it up." Heh.

I guess this is what you'd call an Easter Egg... :)

Thanks for finding it!

Locke's comment to Ana Lucia about 'Running like the devil's chasing you' was EXACTLY the same line that Desmond said to Jack when they met up in the stadium in 'Man of Science, Man of Faith'.

I don't think this was inserted just to show a parallel between Ana Lucia and Jack, but more to point to a parallel between Locke and Desmond.

In that vein, the conversation that Jack and Locke had about supposing the impossible were possible (seeing Jack's father alive in 'Walkabout or 'White Rabbit' - sorry I have to check which) is the same as Desmond's suggestion to Jack about having 'fixed' Sarah (which Jack also thought was impossible).

I think Locke has got some explaining to do this season, and I'm not referring to that business about him sneaking a peek at Jack's equipment in the shower...

A reference to the devil and God in "Are You There God , It's Me Margaret"

I noticed this too

I think there is something to it but other people in my family say it's " just an expresion"

i would imagine it's just an expression the writers like to use... but it might have a secret meaning.... perhaps a thorough google search could come up with something?

I've got a theroy that if Alvar Hanso is meant to be a sort of figurative 'God' character then Gale might be the 'Devil' of the story, so it might be a refernce to that.

There are way too many hidden meanings in this show. Which got me to thinking that there aren't a lot of hidden meanings in the show. I think it might just be an expression. But good catch! I never would have picked up on that myself.

I would say this is a fairly common expression....however...the writers chose and used it for some reason. I think this falls into a rather large group of "linguistic parallels" that the writers have used to conjure up those past images/scenes. Most of these that I have noticed have been contained within a single episode and specifically occur on the island and then in a flashback or vice versa. Maybe there's a "list thread" idea...:biggrin:

I also thought that Ana's response was interesting.... "maybe he is"

The name "Lucia" - usually "Lucy" in english - is a deriviative of the latin meaning "light." Interestingly, God's right-hand man was the "light bearer," or Lucifer.

Nice catch. I had completely forgotten that Desmond said that to Jack.

good catch bratha lostnowfound...i liked ana's excuse too...couldn't remember what jack's excuse was, went back and watched it...desmond had a reason too...
desmond...i'm trainin'...for a race around the world
jack...a patient
something else i noticed here was the fact that desmond offers jack his bottle of WATER... and crazy as it may seem jack drinks it...another connection of something in the water or just coincidence?...it may just be me tho

I haven't checked ... but when I heard that (having just watched "Man of Science, Man of Faith" over the weekend), it made me wonder if both episodes might have had the same author(s).
