I took the audio of the scene where Jin can't understand what Sawyer and Bernard were saying and reversed it, and it turned out to be a continuation of their conversation. Nothing important, just interesting.

Here's a transcript:

Bernard: Well, how do you know?
Sawyer: I got my sources
B: Aren’t you going to tell him?
S: Not my place
B: You should tell him.
S: Hell no! Let Sunshine tell him.

Here's the clip after being reversed:

It's funny they would have us "hear" what Jin is hearing and it be backward talk...strange...

Thanks alot, gumpy!

I thought that was a neat little touch, giving us a sense of what it must be like for Jin.

I loved that they added a Jin perspective on the conversation. It's easy for me to forget that he doesn't have subtitles like we do when they are speaking Korean LOL

It also was a nice lead in to him telling Sun that he needed her and that he couldn't talk to anyone there. I'm all about the little things... easily pleased :)

Thanks so much for being so prompt with that info. I'm happy the writer's didn't feel it necessary to hide an "easter egg" in their backwards talk. It would have been funnier, however, if their exchange went something like this:

Sawyer: Bernie...Can you believe the idiots who over analyze this show to death?
Bernard: I know. Some idiot right now is probably loading this snippet of dialog into Adobe Audition right now and reversing it!!
Sawyer: Man...They do have alot of time on their hands, don't they?
Bernard: This poor sap has no idea his hot Korean wife's got a bun in the oven.
Sawyer: That reminds me...I saw Hurley eaten a bun today! I'm gonna go beat his fat ***.

I definitely that a "teaching Jin english" subplot is coming up.

They've used this technique before to show the user how much another language can sound like gibberish if you don't understand it.

I though that was a great reminder of Jin’s communication gap. It was well done. Though Ator’s suggestion would have been funnier!!

I thought it was quite nice that Jin was able to come to the conclusion that he needs Sun and needs to rely on her. I don't think it was easy for him to swallow his pride and admit that he doesn't understand what people say, and that he feels frustrated because of it. It's a nice role reversal for them and it leaves much room for their marriage to grow and for them to grow closer to each other.

very cool. I'm one of these people who just sits here and waits for all you guys to do the cool stuff b/c I wouldn't know where to start. Thanks.

I love when they show us what Jin is hearing. They did it at least one other time and it is a nice reminder of what it must be like for him.

I originally thought it was Korean, in other words...Jin understood English....But after rewinding the show ( 5 times to be exact ) my wife and I realized it was backwards talk...

I figured someone probably beat me to it.

The only thing I'd like to add is that I found it kind of funny that they keep saying "Well...". If I may make a slight addition to the transcript to illustrate what I'm referring to:

BERNARD: "Well, how do you know?"
SAWYER: "Well, I got my sources."
BERNARD: "Well, aren't you gonna tell him now?"
SAWYER: "Not my place."
BERNARD: "Well... you should tell him."
SAWYER: "Hell, no! Let 'Sunshine' tell him."

I agree! I also agree with previous comments, it really was interesting to see the island from Jin's perspective - I almost forget sometimes that his character doesn't understand a word anyone else says! But curiously, he did understand Daddy-io....

thanks for that. it is sad to imagine how lonesome Jin must feel sometimes, with only one person to communicate...

"I got my sources" -- who wants to bet $100 that Kate is Sawyer's "source"? *wink wink* I think Sawyer might have gotten the idea of Sun being pregnant by himself, since she came to him to get the test

Jin constantly hears satanic messages when he listens to the radio.

Like someone said, I think he kinda guessed when she asked him for a pregancy test.

By the way, I'm betting halfway next season Jin will be speaking fluently English. It was fun while it lasted, but I guess Daniel Dae Kim must be wanting some more interaction with the others.
Also in battle or other activities it will be easier to coordinate the moves when Jin is around.
