Could Libby be working a con with Sawyer?
In The Hunting Party, we see Sawyer "direct" Hurley and Libby together. We know Sawyer read the messages from the bottle when he was on the raft...one of which was from "Hugo" and was bequeathing his fortune to his mum should he not survive/be found. I can't believe that Sawyer didn't know who Hugo was, (as he stated when he read that message). Libby's story about the foot treading incident was an obvious lie...why? Sawyer was dating the Lottery Girl - yet another (sort of) link to Hurley.

(I think I am just thinking aloud now...don't think I've sorted this one out in my head yet...can anyone help/find further evidence?)

Its a good theory. But if it was true Sawyers plan went wrong. I mean what use is money on that island!

though conning is his expertise..i agree with irish..if it would be in fact about money, then it is useless..considering that the whole raft thing did not push through and he will be able to get off the island for the next century....why would he con hurley for? i also think that he was sincere when he said that he did not know who hugo is..i mean he is good with name calling but when it comes to their real names..i doubt it..

libby on the other hand is yet another mysterious character whose intention are yet to be revealed though i am crossing my fingers hoping that this insecurity cloud hovering above everyone's head would be cleared... :rolleyes:

the thing is we know little about her that is why we are thinking twice on whether she can be trusted or not.

It's defiantly a good possibility. We do not know why Libby was in Australia, I don't think we do at least. And Sawyer was in Australia to find the person he was lead to believe was Sawyer. So why would he be there with Libby? I mean, maybe she was with him to help him out, and we just never saw her. I can't say it is or isn't what is going on, but I can easily see it happening down the road. Maybe Sawyer was there for 2 reasons with Libby. To get the real supposed Sawyer and con the money out of Hurley for what ever reason he was in Australis for. Wasn't Hurley there to talk to that women (sorry, don't remember her name right now) about the numbers her husband heard while in the service? Had he won the $ already, or was that before he won it, and had gone back after winning?

I don't think this could be true. But it is a very good connection. Sawyer is a con man for money and Hurley won the lotto. I don't see where Libby fits into this, but she is very mysterious, especially where it concerns Hurley. But like an earlier poster said, she's mysterious because we don't know her. I hope they show her flashback so we can see where Hurley, and possibly Sawyer fits in to her life.

I have to say that I don't think that Libby is working with Sawyer. She may have met him before (or someone like him) which would explain her obvious disdain for him. As far as Hurley is concerned, I think that Libby, like Jack, worked in a job that helped people before the island because she is drawn to that kind of person. Her personality it that of someone who needs to help (or fix) people. They have been paralleling her to Jack the whole time with her being the "doctor" of the Tailies, her dislike of Sawyer, her friendship with a person who has the ability and hunting skills to protect the group (Ana-Lucia & Locke), and the fact that she is drawn to someone who needs affection, friendship, understanding, and help. In that case they are paralleling Hurley with Kate.

Exactly, Princess. And if she is some kind of mental health background it would all make sense.

Yeh, interesting idea but I don't think there is a connection between Sawyer and Libby. :smile:

after all anything and almost everything is possible in this show.. :eek2: I'll be midly shocked though, if ever it will come true..
