Thanks for posting that! I heard that their was going to be some sort of interactive web site for us hard core Losties. I'm obviously not the only one that is crazy. (So my acquaintances say) Glad to know where it's at. It's in my favorites. Thanks.

Hope this username works

Sounds like it could be an internet rpg game! Like Guild Wars but lost!

This reminds me a lot of how the Donnie Darko site revealed a whole lot about that movie's mythology, including details you couldn't understand without working your way through the site. That site was set up as levels, you had to solve a puzzle to get to the next one. With each level you learned something new.

Most interestingly, they said the site's relaunch spins out of something that will happen in a May episode. Will the Losties get to the "?" only to find a computer logged onto HansoFoundation.org? Are WE going to be figuring out the site along with them?

I'm curious as to what it is too. But whatever it is at least we have something to look forward to over the long summer break.

I definately need something to get me through the summer. Some of the podcasters are considering various summer plans. For example, generally speaking is talking about going over past episodes each week and Lostcasts will probably do something too. Jay and Jack haven't mentioned anything yet that I'm aware of...

I also heard that the hansofoundation site will also have some thing to ocupy our time through out the summer. Sorry, don't remember the exact web adress.

that sounds wicked. although i hope its a bit more comple than the Donnie Darko site, it wasnt all that big, certainly wouldnt occupy a summer. (but then i have got Season 2 starting on terrestrial soon)

Does this sound as if they'll have ABC and Lost broadcasters around the world reporting fake news stories about the Hanso Foundation and Widmore? Then we have to figure how it all ties into what's going on on the Island?

Supposedly, this launches on the Hanso site, so why would these ABC stations be a part of it?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060424/ap_on_en_tv/tv_lost_1

New "Interactive" game to be offered by ABC that will offer a parallel story line and addtional clues to "unlocking" the mystieries of LOST.

I hope we don't need to play to game to get important information about the show. If we do, I trust someone here will post the clues once they've been figured out.

it's bad enough that there are easter eggs visible only to those with HDTV without the producers' providing information only to those who will play the game. This is a surefire way to make the show appear elitist and can only hurt the ratings more IMO.

Dino 23F

i doubt it will be anything you have to do to understand the show, even the clues in the easter eggs or podcast arent anything you need to know to follow the show

I'm excited. Something to get us through the break! AnneM, I hear you concerns, and am hoping that the creators have set this up so that it doesn't take anything away from more casual viewers of the show. They seem to be marketing this show for different levels of participation/obsession.

Bah, it's not about trying to make the show elitist to people with better TV's or people who are better at solving riddle type puzzle games. I imagine the idea behind it is to entertain us. Just like Lost.

There's been this whole movement of fans who watch Lost who have forgotten rule #1 of the show, it's for entertainment. They're unhappy because the people on the island wouldnt do what they do, or dont talk to each other enough, or dont react the way we would think we would react in a situation that we've never been, and hopefully will never be in.

I know even as I type this it's gonna come off as a lecture as honestly IS a threadjack, but it's just not getting said enough obviously. People are just getting to seriously involved in the show...And while getting caught up in the story is good, while obsessing over the details really isnt a bad thing (I'm right there with you when it comes to going on any crazy wack jack theory hunt to try and figure out what's going on) it goes too far when you stop enjoying the show because your upset that a character didn't immediately over react about something they learned. Example, how many people flamed that Kate didnt tell everyone about the fake beards and clothes when she found them. Something she didnt really put the importance to right away, while we were going OMG, the others are fakerz! Rawr! :)

Anywho, stepping off of my soapbox now. I look forward to being frustrated by the game, I love puzzles. :)

PS. It's ok to flame about the scheduling of Lost though, ABC did drop the ball on that one.

There's some additional info from this article at NYTimes.com (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/24/business/media/24lost.html).

The game, of a genre called alternate-reality games, is a multimedia treasure hunt that makes use of e-mail messages, phone calls, commercials, billboards and fake Web sites that are made to seem real....

He said broadcasters from around the world would release clues in a variety of formats and that players would have to join forces online to solve them. Mr. Benson also said that any new information or clues revealed in the Lost Experience would be applicable to the TV show's story as well.

The game is designed by Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, the TPTB themselves, so it won't be as irrelevant as, say, the novels.

Cuse also says the game will launch out of a commercial in the May 3rd episode. The toll free number to call that gets the ball rolling will appear there. He recommends setting your TIVO so you don't skip the commercials.

I also want to add I think they needed to do something like this eventually. The proliferation of fake and pseudo-sites was confusing the storyline for some people and leading theories in all sorts of random directions. Threads like the TIBERIUS one on this site also have demonstrated what happens when the net audience is fed any kind of clue... it just leads to lots more investigation and research of issues pertinent to the show but not from the show itself. So now, instead of Tiberius feeding us the clues its Lindelof and Cuse themselves, leading to more focussed and relevant discussions.

I completely agree. Still enjoyable, just don't obsess so much you start disliking it. Like when I was reading to many spoilers.

Because clues won't be given just in the US...many international networks will be participating, so certain clues will only be shown in Australia, or Singapore, or Korea, etc. (I recall seeing all of those listed in the Vanity Fair article, but I'm not sure if that was a comprehensive list, so you may have to check with whatever network airs Lost in your country to see if they'll be participating.) All of us then get to pool the clues we find here and work together.

Yeah, I don't think anyone is going to be left out because of their location in the world, or even severe time restraints.

I saw a post (an unforunate one I might add) fussing at TPTB because of the summer Lost Experience. Someone was complaining that he/she is and has been a loyal fan of the show since the beginning, and now he/she feels that he/she is going to be left out of an aspect of the show because

I actually have a *life* and a *job*, not the unlimited time and resources some of these internet people have!

I wish he wouldn't get so upset. I think that by pooling our resources here, only people who want to and are able to participate in the game will have to. The rest of us can simply visit the Fuselage and get updates, read clues and findings, and still have all of the same answers. I mean TPTB have said that the game is designed so that people from around the world will have too work together to play, so by its very nature the game requires that all of the info be available online.

I hate to see the producers railed like that. I think everyone will have fun this summer, and that's really all TPTB are trying to do: keep us entertained and busy over the long hiatus.

Well, I don't think it's fair to call the OP of that thread names. I do understand his frustration. I don't identify with it, because while I have both a job and a life, I make time for Lost research. But I can see how a number of people might find this frustrating. The difference I think is that the poster didn't realize that TPTB have crafted this experience so that if you do not take part, you don't miss out on anything integral to the show. What we will be doing over the summer is a bonus for those of us who want to take part. We will see things that others will not, but they will not be completely out of the loop when Season three starts up.

That's the exact attitude I am taking. I know that I won't be able to dedicate much free time to go on wild goose chases, but I can always find time to sit and read online. That's the real key to this project: it is meant to be a shared, collaborative experience.

The clue won't be "In" the episode. They might have their own commercial like they did last year for Oceanic Airlines, it could be in another commercial there are many companies linking up with ABC and Lost. They could have a Widmore Labs commercial.

This is awesome!

I have to agree that I don't have the time, knowledge or energy to do a lot of the research that most of you guys do (Sam G., Jocko, etc.) and I rely on you guys because you are the best. Even so, I look forward to joining the Experience here with you guys!

The only suggestion I would like to make, and I'm not really sure how to go about this, but if a thread is more than 10 pages long, I generally don't have time to read it all so I end up skipping it. I'm sure that the Experience threads will explode dramatically so is there some way to make a single summary thread that say summarizes the pertinent info. every five to ten pages of a thread? Say it could only be editted by the OP and a link to the last page or any page of the active thread so that people could quickly be summed up and still interact with the current discussion. That way, there isn't a lot of duplication within and I don't waste time reading 2-3 pages of Off-Topic or misc. conversation when I'm in a time crunch.
Does that make sense to anyone?

This is awesome!

I have to agree that I don't have the time, knowledge or energy to do a lot of the research that most of you guys do (Sam G., Jocko, etc.) and I rely on you guys because you are the best. Even so, I look forward to joining the Experience here with you guys!

The only suggestion I would like to make, and I'm not really sure how to go about this, but if a thread is more than 10 pages long, I generally don't have time to read it all so I end up skipping it. Does that make sense to anyone? http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=46061 There's another thread here discussing how to organize the threads so everyone gets the maximum benefit from the game.

I think there are a couple of MODS on this thread and the will probably read your suggestion.

here's the source code, (though there doesn't appear to be anything buried in it):

At the end of Good Morning America today (5/3/06) they said they were going to have a special LOST star and a clue.
