-one of the super-short previews for this episode showed sayid running away from a big exposion in the jungle.

-there was not anything remotely like that in this episode.

don't remember that but i'm sure i remember seeing Hurley's foot slipping in the gravel as if maybe he was going to fall off that cliff and that did not make the episode.

I saw that too. They also showed a waterfall in one of the previews. That wasn't in the episode either. Maybe they are coming up in future episodes. I have no idea why they would preview them for Dave though.

It was probably a marketing thing... You know, they wanted it to look like Hurley might fall off and die. That kind of suspense helps draw viewers in. I've noticed that some of the previews in the past don't always accurately depict how the episode is going to go (eg. the missing crowbar from the "Lockdown" episode).

The previews are problematic. Damon and Carlton have said in the official podcasts that they have no control over what's in the previews. Sometimes they're ticked about what the preview producers include. This becomes an issue when the previews include things as mentioned above.

I know they're busy guys, but I really would like it if the exec prods took the time to approve the previews before they aired.

But what about the waterfall and Sayid running from an explosion. I highly doubt those were deleted scenes.
Anybody have any theories?

Someone mentioned the Sayid explosion preview thing last week! I think it is just to keep viewers interested or it could be from the explosion Danielle set in season 1 and was a preview of a rerun!

Spoiler: I saw a preview with Eko and Charlie on a raft, but that part was missing in the episode too, so I thought I finally started imagining things.
