View Full Version : The Ending Montage
ZoeWashburne 04-12-2006, 10:22 PM I thought the montage from the last few minutes of the episode was great. Reminded me a lot of the first season. Libby/Hurley, Rose/Bernard, Sun/Jin, Sawyer/Vincent... it was all very sweet
And can anyone identify the song for me? I would like to download it!
Oh, but Sun... I'm on her side and like to think she's telling the truth about the baby being Jin's but why was she looking so sad at the end? Jin looked (adorably) happy. I want to believe Sun but stuff like that makes it harder!
elfdream 04-12-2006, 10:28 PM Don't forget Charlie and Eko and Claire and Aaron. :)
Tex Lost 04-12-2006, 10:28 PM Yeah, Sun definitely seemed like she was hiding something, or she wasn't as happy or at ease as Jin was for some reason.
JohnnyREB1977 04-12-2006, 10:29 PM The song was These Arms of Mine by Otis Redding. Great song!
ZoeWashburne 04-12-2006, 10:31 PM The song was These Arms of Mine by Otis Redding. Great song!
Ah, muchas gracias, JohnnyREB! Here's hoping ITunes has it!
And oops about forgetting Claire, Aaron, Charlie and Eko! I knew I hadn't managed to remember them all. Aaron is a little cutie, as is Mr. Eko!

I didn't see that at all. It seemed like everyone was just relaxing having a moment together.
cylune 04-12-2006, 10:37 PM I know they are not popular with a lot of people but I love the musical montages! My favorite was the one in Confidence Man over the “I Shall not Walk Alone” song by the Blind Boys of Alabama. I guess the rarity of the musical montage in seson 2 makes us more appreciative of them.

Hehe, I love them too, cylune! The show is so intense with so much going on, I love these sweet little character moments. I think my favorite is "Are You Sure?" from House of the Rising Sun, though tonight's was very good too
Angela12 04-12-2006, 10:39 PM Hurley/Libby...
Jin/Sun...
Rose/Bernard...
Sawyer/Vincent?!
Heh. Poor Sawyer. He's lonely and Vincent's just using him for food. :( ;)

ITA with everything you said. I miss season 1. I miss Boone. It seems like the show was so much more wholesome back then. Sayid wasn't even in this ep. I hate how characters will skip entire eps (unless it's Charlie). They never did that in season 1.
Vincer 04-12-2006, 10:42 PM Wow...what an ending to a spectacular episode. I am certainly not a softy but damn that nearly made tears come to my eyes!
Karrin Murphy 04-12-2006, 10:43 PM Hurley/Libby...
Jin/Sun...
Rose/Bernard...
Sawyer/Vincent?!
Heh. Poor Sawyer. He's lonely and Vincent's just using him for food. :( ;)
Hey, who wouldn't share some food with Vincent ? Vincent wasn't starving. Somehow I think Vincent recognizes the loneliness of Sawyer. Plus I think Sawyer likes having someone around that doesn't judge him. One thing about dogs...unconditional love.
Luanne 04-12-2006, 10:47 PM Sawyer in the dog house with Kate and Vincent is only one to comfort him. I think Sun looked guilty there at the end
Aphasia_1 04-12-2006, 10:47 PM I didn't think sun looked guilty, just sorta pensive and depressed. I really don't think she cheated on Jin. I have faith in her. I think she'll eventually have to tell him how she learned english and that might create feelings of distrust.
I bet Sawyer was missing kate and had to settle for vincent. I love the montages, too. They are so sweet and kind after a super involving episode.

Yeah, Vincent always seems to know who needs some affection. He's a good puppy
cylune 04-12-2006, 10:48 PM I don't like dogs but seing Sawyer with Vincent made me want to adopt one. There is such a feel good quality about the musical montages.
Angela12 04-12-2006, 10:51 PM I'm a sucker for the montages, too. They always get me a bit teary-eyed.
briar910 04-13-2006, 06:50 AM I love the music montages! I definitely miss those from the first season. I hope they have more of those in the future, especially since they have a record player now. And the Sawyer/Vincent bonding moment, aww
Zoriah 04-13-2006, 07:16 AM Did anyone else notice that it looked like Sawyer was feeding Vincent the clams Kate had been gathering in their earlier scene together? That was sad and cute.
cnice515 04-13-2006, 08:13 AM Ah, muchas gracias, JohnnyREB! Here's hoping ITunes has it!

You might also want to look for "I've been loving you (too long) also by Otis Redding.
Alkcalien 04-13-2006, 09:01 AM Montage was good, but why was Sayid the only one not shown? :frown:
DriveSHAFTband 04-13-2006, 09:13 AM . . . why was she looking so sad at the end? Jin looked (adorably) happy.
Why was she looking so sad? Because she's pregnant! On an island! I don't think she wanted to be a mother and now she's going to be.
I'd be sad too.
ZoeWashburne 04-13-2006, 09:41 AM You might also want to look for "I've been loving you (too long) also by Otis Redding.
Thanks, cnice! I already downloaded the other Otis Redding song from ITunes and it's great!
And good point, DriveSHAFT. Being pregnant on this island would be miserable and stressful. I was just thinking how it'll probably make some people question the paternity of the baby some more. I believe Sun that it's Jin's, but she's not helping her case with the enigmatic, unhappy faces!
tlc1217 04-13-2006, 09:49 AM I loved the musical montage.... Sun is hidding something... Sawyer will get loving at some point so we do not need to feel sorry for him.
monsieurxander 04-13-2006, 10:00 AM Montage was good, but why was Sayid the only one not shown? :frown:
Because Sayid wasn't in the episode at all. Ana Lucia wasn't in the montage, either.
Alkcalien 04-13-2006, 10:18 AM Because Sayid wasn't in the episode at all. Ana Lucia wasn't in the montage, either.
But both Ana-Lucia and Locke were in the last few minutes of the show.
cyoung4ever 04-13-2006, 10:26 AM I read somewhere that the reason Sayid wasn't shown was because he was off shooting "The Ten Commandments" and that they "put him in the episode" by Jack's reference of asking Sayid first.
Michelle Friday 04-13-2006, 10:56 AM Sun = Pregg = Craphole Island = no epidural = freaking out!!
I was thinking, though, "and they all lived happy ever after" with that Montage.;)
Alkcalien 04-13-2006, 11:42 AM Still, seems kind of strange that there wouldn't be a few seconds of stock footage of Sayid that could be spliced into the montage.
Fuyuko 04-13-2006, 11:54 AM I thought it was pretty saccharine Especially the 'goo goo' scene with Claire and the baby. A little too cutesy IMHO.
briburkhart 04-13-2006, 11:58 AM I was thinking...the calm before the storm.
RictorBelmont 04-13-2006, 12:06 PM Good point Briburkhart, plus didnt the writers/directors say that the episodes in the 20's were going to be absolutly nuts?
Shardyk 04-13-2006, 01:25 PM The montages are something I think we need every few episodes. I know it sounds stupid, but they always leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling. :)
Siobhan 04-13-2006, 02:31 PM I was thinking...the calm before the storm.
That is exactly how I looked at it. By showing us most of the Losties in a relatively contented, settled mood it is a fine and poignant set up for any potential confrontation with the Others and ramifications that might result.
Letty 04-13-2006, 02:40 PM I was thinking...the calm before the storm.
That's exactly what I thought. I'm so pessimistic, hah.
Although seeing Sawyer being a sweetie with Vincent sure warmed up my heart. He's a complex guy.
Shardyk 04-13-2006, 02:47 PM Sayid wasn't in the episode... I wonder if that saved them $80,000? :p
Kate_Ryan 04-13-2006, 02:48 PM The Ending was great. I loved when Kate told Jack she was sorry she kissed him, and he was like "I'm not". That was so sweet. Thats like what very girl wants to hear!
Shardyk 04-13-2006, 07:00 PM Still, seems kind of strange that there wouldn't be a few seconds of stock footage of Sayid that could be spliced into the montage.
Doing what?
Zulu_as_Kono 04-13-2006, 11:39 PM The montages are something I think we need every few episodes. I know it sounds stupid, but they always leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling. :)
Me too. I still think that the montage from Season 1, after they split into the beach camp and the cave camp, with the Willie Nelson song was one of the best things they've done.
Then again, I get misty just thinking about the "Mad World" montage from Donnie Darko, so maybe I just like montages.
HappyHippo 04-14-2006, 12:34 AM Don't get mad...
I have a whole different take on this. It was beautiful, but I think we just got cameos of who is saved/being saved on the island.
I thought a while ago that Claire's baby did not survive the crash, nor did Vincent, and the island saved them from death. The island seems to have healed Jin's fertilitly prob, and maybe Abby's illness. Charlie is clean now, and Sawyer is healing his anger. We know that John and Rose have been healed...The end seemed to show us progress.
Shardyk 04-14-2006, 01:53 PM ^ Do you mean Libby's illness?
True Love 04-15-2006, 10:05 AM I liked the montage. Seems to be the IN thing for TV shows now. You see it on the other shows too - a sort of wrap up without too much detail. Take it as you wish. They really can't have a voice over (thank goodness) like in DHW or Grey's Anatomy so the music had to tie it all in.
It was very nice.
Skippy2Tacos 04-15-2006, 02:12 PM I think I am the only one in the universe that thought this to be a bit to sappy....... Maybe the calm before the storm thing works though. :eek2:
