I know it would be interesting to see Michael turn into an other and all, but doesn't the fact that at least two of the hatches are deserted lend credence to his statement that they can take them? Something happened to Dharma and they are just not as strong or in control as they once were. I'm sure it didn't help when Eko and Ana killed off a few of their friends.
