I have a four day weekend and started on my spring cleaning today. I was wondering if any of you have started cleaning yet or have any opinions about this painful tradition! :undecide:

I prefer to avoid it whenever possible!
When my wife's "spring cleaning chip" kicks in, I run for the hills, 'cause she's gonna put me to work!

Yeah, but mainly only one room.

Step-daughter is in Ireland seeing her Mum - I am in her room with a shotgun and a shovel. We have a truce, but there were fully evolved sock civillisations in there. I woul have happily left them but they were carnivorous ans aggressive so they had to go... ;)

I actually like cleaning. It makes me feel all organized and neat. So I look forward to it! I know it sounds geeky.:wink1:

I hate cleaning...but in the past year or so I've developed dust mite allergies, so that kind of forces the issue a little bit. I still draw a line between clean and organized, though. :)

That is too cute EarlhamGirl. Yea, I know there is something wrong with me. I think I got this cleaning passion from my mother. But trust me, I'm not overly-obsessed with cleaning. I just enjoy it when I have to do it. EXCEPT, washing the dishes. I cannot stand it. Spring cleaning can do without the dishes being done. lol.

I don't know if i'd call it spring cleaning for me - more like spring raids! Usually what i do is, working up to exams or whatever, i keep my room an "organised mess" where it's not clean but at least i know where most stuff is. Then once i've finished the exams or whatever i hold a raid on the place and just have a blitz on everything so it's sparkly-clean for a few... days. :p

Oh I know! Dishes are the worst. We only recently got a dishwasher, and before that we were doing them all by hand. THAT sucked. And folding clothes. I don't know why, I jsut hate it.

Everything else, I'm fine with, especially vacuuming and cleaning windows and mirrors. It's strange, I know. lol

Gads where to begin..

Painting the house inside and out...sodding around the pond...tearing out the garage and building two new bedrooms...building a terrace where the inclined driveway once was...tearing up old carpet and laying new...

Does this count as Spring Cleaning or just insanity...:35:

I highly enjoy that I randomly opened this thread and the first thing I read was about the joy in a clean toilet. haha. I love it

I'm a huge fan of the spring cleaning events.. Those days where you can throw open windows and air everythign out.. and clean EVERYTHING. And by the time you are done and you go to bed.. everything is put away and nice.. I find it very theraputic and relaxing.

Speaking of which.. I really need to clean out my closet.. my stacks of hoodies, pj bottoms and jeans are threatening to topple over and possible suffocate me everytime I browse for a shirt!

I love pulling out the fridge/washer/dryer/dressers/sofas/tvs or anything else for that matter and cleaning behind it:) I just cleaned behind teh fridge and found an easter egg (plastic.. so it didnt stink or anything:)) , a ball, and several unrecognizable chunks..ewww.. i know! I love scrubbing out the kitchen, and the bathroom... (ohh... i found something awesome... we have this mold that keeps growing on the grout in the bathroom, even though I clean it it seems to stain itself black! Well...... I tried bleach.. and anything else to remove it and it wouldnt work! I felt dirty taking a shower even when I knew it was clean.... so I got Tilex Mold and Mildew remover and boy did it work! it was awesome.. you guys should try it:))

anyway.. thats all for my ranting

I've been putting off cleaning for weeks upon weeks. I know it has to be done, but I just can't get up the motivation to do it.

My winter clothes still need to be packed away. I need to go through my summer clothes and separate them into wearable/donatable piles.

I need to clean my carpets, but my best friend currently has my deep cleaner.

The kitchen could use a good scrubdown. It's not terrible, but I'd like to get the crumbs from underneath the stove, between the counters, etc...

I need to hang up the pictures for my bathroom.

The only thing I probably will get accomplished though is getting some of the crap out of my bedroom closet and taking it to my parents' house. I've been upgrading my kitchen stuff (dishes, utensils, pots/pans) and saving the old stuff to give to my younger sisters. (One is starting college, one is getting her first apartment, and the others just like free things)

Now, when I clean, I just make pretend I'm cleaning Jack Sparrow's house.:in_love:

I have to say I love a freshly cleaned toilet too! Even though I hate the actual cleaning part. I don't mind doing laundry even though I'm not much for the folding. I hang up most stuff so that helps. Doing dishes is ok. I actually like dusting even though I don't do it very often. I like vacuuming too especially when you get to suck up and big pile of dirt or a big dust bunny or something. My biggest problem is keeping too much stuff or organizing the stuff I have. I hate doing it.

Several of you mentioned how nice it is to throw open your windows when your place is clean. I must admit, I am horribly jealous. First, I would need to clean. That is a major job! Second, I'm in Texas and it is well over 100 degrees here. Walking outside makes me want a nap and a shower.
