View Full Version : Widmore Food labels - numbers and letters?

The Widmore Food labels are similar for the products we have seen.

DI9FFTR731

So the DI = Dharma initiative?

The other numbers mean anything? They are consistent across the products - carrots, beans etc.

Thoughts?

Where have we seen Widmore food?

Todell

Well, not sure about the 9FFTR part (really not sure about any of it), but you might find it intersting to learn that 731 was the number of a secret military unit in Imperial Japan before and during World War II. They committed a number of horrific human experiemnts. Be careful with the link--its very gruesome. Unit 731 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_731).

While I don't know if this has anything to do with anything, it might suggest that there is immoral human experimentation going on--the people who committ these sorts of atrocities believe that they are above human law. Perhaps a clue as to Dharma's mindset?

I've seen that unit731 stuff before Todell, gruesome stuff indeed...

But, upon checking, I'm pretty sure that there's been no food with the Widmore logo on, it's all standard Dharma Initiative stuff with The Swan logo on...

Maybe a mix-up of details with the food drop and Mr.Gale's Widmore sponsored balloon?

Last week or so someone posted pics of a liscense plate that showed up on two different cars in two different Locke flashbacks. the number on the box was something like these numbers. Can someone check that?

The license plate on Locke's dad's car had a TR in it. I'm not sure about the other numbers but they show up too often not to mean something.

Now about that food, has any one else pondered why the cans are so big? If the food is/was meant for whomever is in the hatch, say 1 or 2 button pushers, why such large quantities in one can? They are institutional size and would feed at least a dozen, maybe more, if opened.

That's a lot of corn, green beans, etc. for one meal. I'd hate to think that they ate it every day for weeks on end. Sure, they could store it in another container, but even refrigerated stuff loses its flavor after a week or so.

Any thoughts?

But it was probably for about 3 months or so. Maybe even more.

That's what I mean - that amount would take some time to consume if eaten by one or two people, such as Desmond and/or Kelvin. Once it's open you have to use it up or it goes bad. But if it's meant for a larger group, then it could be consumed in a few days, with no waste.

Who opens up that large of a can for just themselves and maybe one other person? Or maybe the food drops are meant for more than DI's original button pushers? Maybe the food drops are meant for a larger group, such as the Others?

So ... the same question. The numbers must mean something. Everything means something on the show.

I was wondering if the 7 / 31 is a date. September 31st? A manufacturing date?

I have assumed here that Widmore is manufacturing the food, but on further reflection I am not so sure. The Widmore product had Widmore logos.

So now I am thinking that someone other than Widmore made it.

But the question remains - what do the numbers mean? code for something?

Very curious ...

7/31...would be July 31st, no?

My bad.

That would be July.

Good catch.

so now I wonder if that makes more sense as it could have been made then and shipped to the island for delivery?

Yeah, but no. The numbers have been the same on everything on the island seen so far, haven't they? Would everything be produced at the same time, maybe? But I would guess no, because of the range of items to be produced, food and drugs. But it's just my observation, you could be right.

Good Point Save.

Since they are the same on every package, that makes sense.

So what do they mean then? Do they mean anything?

I am curious as they seem to be a strange combination of letters and numbers. Maybe they have something to do with the Lost Experience that is coming in the summer?

They seemed to go out of their way to show them up close for very clear screen caps.

Could be part of the Lost Experience.

Either way I hope they are revealed to have some significance and don't just fall away like the other numbers.

Does anyone remember what size the cans of food etc were when the losties first found the hatch?? I will try to find a screenshot or something to compare.
Because if the cans have got bigger then that might give us a clue as to whether whom ever is providing the food knows there are more than 2 people now?

I remember Hurley and his ranch dressing. It would have taken one person a heck of a long time to consume but more than that....WHAT WAS IT TO BE PUT ON? There isn't any fresh veggies to use dressing on!

Ranch goes pretty well on lots and lots of things. I like it on chicken, chips, spaghetti, salad, and some more stuff that I can't remember right now... Basically you can put it on just about any type of meat and it tastes pretty good... It was probably used to put a little variety in the diet of the people when they got tired of eating the same thing over and over again... ;p

With all the food they are shipping to the Island how come now drinks...no juice, powered milk, tea, coffee etc. All they have to drinkis water. And I agree about the can size...that is a heck of a lot of corn for two people. And I don't ever remember the hatch having a fridge.....

As for the numbers...could be a production date, lot number or drop off zone. (Each zone gets a preset batch of items.)

So in reviewing the great feedback I assumed that these were Widmore produced, but they can't be. They are strictly Dharma product but perhap's made by Widmore?

I am just confused why they have given us such clear images that don't mean something.

I appreciate the idea of the batch number and the drop zones. Both feasible.

I wonder now that the Lost experience is up and running if it will be a code or a website.

Cheers!
