I thought about it and decided to continue my series of end of high school moments! I'll be graduating soon and was wondering what were some of your most fun memories at the end of high school!

View Full Version : High School Graduation: Past, Present, and Future EarlhamGirl 04-19-2006, 09:32 PM I thought about it and decided to continue my series of end of high school moments! I'll be graduating soon and was wondering what were some of your most fun memories at the end of high school! jellybean1 04-19-2006, 09:50 PM Mine was the annual senior skip day that was arranged by our class. Only 50% of the seniors were in class that day. I went to the beach, Lake Michigan, with my friends. I got a sun burn. I had to explain to my mom how I got a sun burn sitting in school all day. goddessblue 04-19-2006, 10:08 PM jellybean, that's so funny. Senior ditch day was the ONLY time I ever got caught ditching school. And we went to the Dunes at Lake Michigan. It's really amazing that that is the only time I ever got caught, lol. Grad parties. Grad parties. Grad parties. Best part of graduation. God's tom 04-20-2006, 04:05 AM Trash day! That was the day when all the seniors could come in dressed any way they saw fit - whithin bounds of reason that is! I had a long beard, & a friend of mine loaned me a set of old Army fatigues. He said I looked like Fidel Castro. I guess I did, 'cause one of my teachers said so too! Blue Coral 04-20-2006, 08:26 AM Project Graduation. :smart:The night of graduation, to keep us from partying and drinking, the school rented a giant fun zone. Swimming, tennis, basketball, caricatures, cotton candy machines, dancing, karaoke! Everything you could think of, they had. It was all night long til' 4am. Parents had to pick us up. It was my last big memory with all of my friends. Oh and prom of course. JohnnyREB1977 04-20-2006, 09:24 AM That whole year was a blast for me; just knowing that it was my last year in (what I thought at the time) was a cesspool of a place. Now, I look back on it rather fondly. If I had to pick one day, though, it would be graduation night and the subsequent party at my house. The place was packed with friends and family. Aurora10 04-20-2006, 05:55 PM Wow! I still remember my senior year perfectly and I can't believe it's been 2 years already. Craziness. I was in a "class" called Courtesy where students would help the various offices around the school. I was in the attendance office with 3 other people and I loved it! We would run errands, pick up attendance, stuff like that. I really enjoyed walking around the school with the 3 of them. Around this time, we had a Senior Picnic at a recreation center. It was really fun but the wind was horrible! The last week was fun, too. I brought my camcorder...lol I got some good stuff on that including a water/shaving cream fight at the end of lunch. Graduation night was fun. Blue Coral, we also had a Project Graduation at this one amusement park. They opened it for us at 10pm until 2am I think. Good times. :) I'm missing high school now! candydandy 04-21-2006, 07:13 AM Ah Muck Up day, our last day of school which was full of pranks shirt signings wrecking our uniforms. It was such an awesome day :) chellly 04-21-2006, 07:39 AM *sigh* sometimes i miss high school........ we didn't get to have senior skip day...we tried and the administration told us if anyone skipped we wouldn't graduate. needless to day, we were all there. the best part for me? walking out of those doors knowing i never had to go back. now i wish i could go back...life was much simpler then. good senior prank that my sister's class played on a teacher - a kid's dad owned his own construction company and had a crane. took the crane and put the football coach's car on the roof of the school. i have no idea how they pulled it off. i mean, it's not like you can sneak around with a crane. i'm convinced the principal was in on it, but he would never admit it. :) theredbaron 04-21-2006, 08:56 AM Best part of High School for me was leaving. College was the best thing that ever happened to me. God's tom 04-21-2006, 01:02 PM I hated school with a passion! I wasn't one of the "popular" students, & it still amazes me that I actually graduated! When I walked out of graduation with my diploma, all I could think was "FREE! FREE! lostfound77 04-21-2006, 05:16 PM Sunnydale High wasn't that great either. The high school --and the town -left us. EarlhamGirl 04-21-2006, 07:11 PM It sounds like y'all really enjoyed your high school graduations! Did any of you have an "Open House" that week? (Where I come from that's not a wild party, but instead a get together of many people with food and plenty of sugar and cookies!) Just curious cos I'm having one!!! LostMyMarbles 05-02-2006, 09:34 PM Best part of High School for me was leaving. College was the best thing that ever happened to me. Same here. I had NO idea college was going to be so much better than high school. My HS graduation was OK, except that my mom didn't come, so of course that's the main thing I remember. But I have vivid memories of my boyfriend's graduation the year before. We went together. It was at the Municipal Auditorium downtown, and afterward he couldn't find his car in the big underground garage. We wandered around for what seemed like hours, and he was angry and embarrassed. But my older son's grade school graduation in June was absolutely beautiful, so that's my happiest and most recent memory. The kindergarten graduations were wonderful, too! Lost_In_Louisiana 05-03-2006, 03:58 AM My HS graduation was OK, except that my mom didn't come, so of course that's the main thing I remember. Yknow, my mother is still bitter that HER mother didn't come to her graduation. It's been over 40 years and she's still hurt by it. I hope you can let it go and not let it eat you up like it did her. I felt so sad for her. I hated school with a passion! I wasn't one of the "popular" students, & it still amazes me that I actually graduated! When I walked out of graduation with my diploma, all I could think was "FREE! FREE! I suppose that not feeling accepted would really suck in high school, but just to help you feel better, I'll tell you that even being in the popular group didn't shield me from the SUCKAGE that was high school. Ever see the movie "Mean Girls"??? Ah, but I did have some very fond memories of football games and hanging out with friends. The most memorable however would have to be how I picked up a guy in a bar and brought him to my graduation party. ;) Since that was par for the course for me, no one was surprised! But the joke was on them wasn't it? At my 20 year reunion I created quite a ruckus when they realized I had the same dude on my arm! They were just stunned. RamessesIX 05-03-2006, 01:36 PM Same here. I had NO idea college was going to be so much better than high school. They both majorly sucked for me. Adulthood is still stressful, but in different ways. At my high school graduation, it rained. We had to hold it inside. At my college graduation, it rained. This time it didn't start until the 'B's' and they didn't have the foresight to move the event, so things speedily devolved into pandemonium. Totally fit with my college experience. Then, at my graduate school graduation.....it rained. We all got disposable plastic ponchos. I have concluded that, like Rob McKenna in So Long, and Thanks for all the Fish, I am a bona-fide Rain God. I have special responsibility for graduation ceremonies. If your school would care to wire me a nominal fee, I will promise to be at least 100 miles away on graduation day. PhillyGirl2873 05-03-2006, 01:49 PM Senior year in high school was the best. I wasn't a popular kid, but for some reason senior year, we all kind of became friends. It was like we decided this was the last year we were all going to be together, so we all just had fun together. Our 15 year high school reunion is this year, I'm not going, but I will say senior year was tons of fun. College was way better though. If I could I would have stayed in college forever. :p EarlhamGirl 05-03-2006, 09:38 PM I suppose that not feeling accepted would really suck in high school, but just to help you feel better, I'll tell you that even being in the popular group didn't shield me from the SUCKAGE that was high school. Ever see the movie "Mean Girls"??? Ah, but I did have some very fond memories of football games and hanging out with friends. I just wtahced it again last weekend. While extagerrated alot, the basic premise is very sound. Sometimes girls can be monsters! ;) I know because I'm one of them! :D Sounds like you had a great time at your graduation and good job at the 20 year reunion. I'm sure you shocked them all! Sgt Detritus 05-09-2006, 10:04 AM I hated school with a passion! I wasn't one of the "popular" students, & it still amazes me that I actually graduated! I just kept my head down and kept busy. Of course it didn't help that I was bullied for most of time at high school ('84-'89) by the same bunch that had bullied me at middle school ('80-84'):frown: EarlhamGirl 05-09-2006, 08:22 PM I wasn't one of the "in" crowd either. Also I went to an Indian restaurant for the first time in my life. There was however a down-side. There was a girl on my course who I was very attracted to. Unfortunately she was already spoken for and I'm old-fashioned enough to believe that that put her out of limits as far as romance went:down: . We have kept in touch though:1smiling: BTW and this is slightly off topic why is there no I heart Dr Artz smilie??? EarlhamGirl 05-12-2006, 04:58 PM I couldn't agree more!! I had a great time at uni. Sorry about the girl, but I'm sure things worked out for you anyway! And to answer your question, I'm not sure why Arzt doesn't have a smilie! :undecide: Lost_In_Louisiana 05-12-2006, 09:17 PM OMG!!! Sometimes girls can be monsters! ;) I know because I'm one of them! :D That is so funny! Especially because I was listening to a talk show one time when the author of Mean Girls came on and said, "Everyone can name the "mean girls" at their school. If you can't, then it's probably you." :lipsseal: I was telling my daughter that I didn't remember any group like that at my school ........... and then it slowly dawned on me that that was MY group. Those girls were pretty evil. I'd like to think I wasn't like them but I'm sure I pissed someone off along the way that is still bitter toward me! Sounds like you had a great time at your graduation and good job at the 20 year reunion. I'm sure you shocked them all! It was priceless it really was! :24: What's even funnier is that we are one of only TWO couples who got married young and are STILL married. Everyone else is divorced or never married! Yet, I'm still hanging with my barfly and lovin' it. EarlhamGirl 05-12-2006, 10:29 PM That is so funny! Especially because I was listening to a talk show one time when the author of Mean Girls came on and said, "Everyone can name the "mean girls" at their school. For anyone who doens't understand "girl world," this is a crash course in back stabbing, fakeness, and all out girl b****iness! :D I'm glad you got them all back at your reunion! It's awesome you're still married!! You and your barfly showed them all! ;) EarlhamGirl 06-23-2006, 09:04 PM I am so excited!! :D I am now officially a high school graduate! I had an awesome open house and went to tons of awesome parties. Thanks for sharing all your fun graduation stories.;) It really got me excited for my own graduation!! :D Keep discussing the good memories!:toot::rockon: |
