View Full Version : Best plot in season 1
evassu esaelp 04-21-2006, 02:05 PM Hey i havent really started a big thread before he he *nervous laugh* anyway i was wondering what you people thought was the best plot in season 1 before season 2 starts, was it the others? the hatch? the monster? or a character plot?
ps i think the hatch was my personal fav.
KelseyLovesBoone 04-21-2006, 02:10 PM I liked the whole ethan and claire thing :)
mygoodeye 04-21-2006, 02:11 PM yeah, the hatch, and Locke's hardening up of Boone(not meant to sound rude honest), i loved the scenes between them.
awoken 04-21-2006, 02:22 PM i'd have to say everything around the Hatch too, especially the Locke/Boone bonding - those episodes were some of my faves. I also loved the building and the launching of the raft..
evassu esaelp 04-21-2006, 08:06 PM i was going to try and put all of the plots into a poll but there are just too many. i liked the way locke drew boone away from shannon aswell. locke is so clouded with mystery you cant tell what hes thinking like the others.
Captain_Falafel 04-21-2006, 08:25 PM For me it is a choice between...
- Ethan kidnapping Claire and Charlie
- Sayid meeting Danielle
- Hurley's numbers
KelseyLovesBoone 04-22-2006, 06:15 AM yeah, the hatch, and Locke's hardening up of Boone(not meant to sound rude honest), i loved the scenes between them.
Lmao that made me laugh
mygoodeye 04-22-2006, 09:22 AM Lmao that made me laugh
before i edited it it said 'Locke hardening up Boone'...:eek2: whoops heheh
Bluemorbo 04-22-2006, 10:17 AM There's alot of storylines I enjoyed. I think the biggest was the revelation about Locke's disability.
Then the whole Others/Claire/Charlie storyline really gripped me too. The episode where it ended with Hurley telling Jack Ethan wasn't on the plane, that was a jaw-on-the-floor moment.
Awesome =D
Finn Buzzing 04-22-2006, 10:51 AM Its got to be the hatch really, doesn't it? Whilst all the other plots i.e. numbers, the pissed off giraffe, ethan, lockes legs and his apparent hardening up of boone (LOL) are really exciting and all relate to the whole plot, the hatch is the plot that takes us from one season to the next.
The 'others' is obviously an extremely close second, but as they were only part of the season for like 2 minutes, my vote goes to the hatch.
PinkPig 04-22-2006, 11:25 AM Locke's legs were the most exciting for me. Um...
I found the hatch storyline pretty uninteresting. Where's the interest? Hatch found. Hatch won't open. Yay, we've opened the hatch.
Maybe it has some more purpose in the second series, but the fact that it links the series doesn't make it any more interesting as a season 1 plot. Just my opinion.
mygoodeye 04-22-2006, 11:28 AM the hatch itself isnt very intersting, but it was a fantastic plot device to cause the interactions between Boone and Locke, and to bring out elements of their characters we might not have seen. Boone was nothing before the hatch.
Heroic Poser 04-22-2006, 12:46 PM The tree shaking monster.
luv me_ luv lost 04-22-2006, 12:57 PM I liked the whole Claire/Ethan/others thing, but i also like the french transmission.
Tiny Time Machine 04-22-2006, 01:13 PM how can you guys say the hatch wasn't interesting? they're treking through the jungle on a seemingly deserted island and they find some metal structure BURRIED IN THE GROUND. that was amazing, i thought.
but the most exciting thing in season one for me was the revellation that ethan wasn't on the plane. that completely blew open the series for me. up until then it was the survivors on an island with a scary monster. with the revelation that ethan had been on the island prior to the crash... well anything was possible. that plot was what really got me completely hooked on this show. i'd really enjoyed it up til then, but that was when i became obsessed.

This is just my own opinion, so if you disagree, don't worry about it, but...with the hatch..it was just so unexpected...so...interesting. You're wandering through the jungle of a jungle in the middle of the nowhere, and you come across a bunker. It was a mixture of hope, confusion, and curiousity. It meant people have been here before, yet...if that's the case, where are the survivors? Which is also where the curiousity came from :)

I completely agree, it kind of ties in with the whole Ethan plot anyway as we now know there are definately 'Others' on the island, and possibly they don't even know about the hatch.
Genius.
evassu esaelp 04-23-2006, 09:51 AM When you first see the aftermath Ethan episode, i believe its called all the best cowboys have daddy issues, when i first saw them find a piece of metal in the mud i though whats the point? why are they excited? but now i look back and think OMG THE HATCH IS UNDER THERE!!
I think Lockes story is the best, it was just so heartbreaking seeing his reaction after his dad had conned him (brill acting). i think Hurley's story is a close second, seeing Hurley i thought he was going to have a little story but boy was i wrong, the numbers seem such a huge part now, maybe we learn what they mean or are in season 2.
Finn Buzzing 04-23-2006, 10:20 AM Yeah, I think the fact that Hurley only has 1 flashback ep in season 1 is on purpose, they couldn't give the numbers plotline away too early and you think he's not that important till you see his episode and then you realise his is probably one of the most significant fb's all season. You dont get anything new on Hurley in s1 which heightens his mysteriousness.
Passport 04-23-2006, 11:55 AM My favourite was the Shannon and Sayid romance because it was sweet and lovely. *blush*
Though anything from Exodus Part 1 rocks.
Occono 04-24-2006, 09:45 AM Well, Danielle was on The Island before the Losties, so why is Ethan so scary in that sense? I think it's more that he infiltrated them and seemed so...different.
evassu esaelp 04-28-2006, 08:51 AM think it was more of the way it happened with eithan's charater seeming like an ordinary guy with a really light voice and nice smile and the way he was just stood there at the end of the episode looking serious staring at claire that really did it. i cant believe he did that to charlie though
jhill89 05-02-2006, 11:23 AM Does anybody else besides me think that Ethan was one of the "Science Team" with Danielle? His name may not be Ethan and he may also speak French. Think about it.
Anyway, my fave episodes are Exodus P1 & P2 and also Walkabout which introduced Locke's background. Legend.
