Ok... I just watched Con Air for the first time in AGES. MC Gainey, the fake-bearded fellow, credited as Mr. Friendly was the pilot for the convicts... I recognized him at the very end of the movie. Anyway, I IMDBd him and figured out why Sawyer called him Zeke. It's typical Disney cross-marketing. There's a Disney flick called Country Bears, in which MC Gainey plays excentric Roadie, and in a promotional photo we can see Gainey's character in front of a tour bus with ZEKE written on the side (http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0276033/Ss/0276033/03CT-10618.jpg). I think it was just a wink at Big Corporate Brother, and not a nod to The Wizard of Oz's cowardly lion. Just a thought.

That's funny, redbarron! I never knew that and haven't seen ConAir in so long I don't recall anything but the stars. You're right, too, about Disney and their cross-referencing. They do it, I think, more than any other studio.
Good catch!

I've seen only bits and pieces of Con-Air. But that is good, I would have never caught on to that. Looks like Zeke has experience with planes. I actually like the cross-reference stuff myself. It's really cool.

I saw DH tonight. I was thinking to myself “why does that guy seem familiar? What has he been on? During commercial I had to look up the episode cast list on IMDB before the lightbulb went on.

Haha. I remember reading that Gainey would be on DH. I SO wouldn't have recognized him if I didn't remember his name! Agreed - he's much better on Lost!

If you're a fan of MC Gainey, see the movie "Sideways". You get to see him fully nude in that. Oh baby.
