View Full Version : What's the worst injury you've ever suffered?
QuiGonZel 04-25-2006, 09:06 PM Myself, I tore all the ligaments in my knee while I was out in Iraq.
...good times. I've also dislocated a finger, but that's nowhere near as bad.
Baileysdad 04-25-2006, 09:33 PM Playing hide and seek after sundown on a friend's farm...I was running full tilt from a group of pre-schoolers and turned my head to see where they were..
In the weeds was an old fashioned plow..they kind with the big wooden handles in the back for the farmer to push as a horse is pulling it..
Those handles caught me flush in the thighs and flipped me over so fast that my arm crashed down with the full force of my body on top of it...
Dislocated elbow...broken radius and ulna, torn ligaments in my wrist and a broken thumb, lacerated my face and tongue and had such a deep thigh bruise I couldn't walk for a week. Took three months of casts and 12 months of rehad to use my arm again.
Hide and seek...the true contact sport..
On a funny note...I broke my thumb taking off a wet pair of sweatsocks once after playing hoop...no really.
LOSTrocksmyREDSOX 04-25-2006, 09:51 PM I broke my coller bone. thats all :P
tuesdaymorning 04-25-2006, 09:57 PM When I was younger, I stepped on some glass (not on purpose, of course) while barefoot. It's not as bad as some other people's accidents.

Superman 04-25-2006, 10:52 PM that's the problem with these types of injuries, BD... it would heal a lot faster if i would stop tongueing it... :crutch:
Aurora10 04-25-2006, 11:52 PM I use crutches when I bite myself, too. ;)
Ahhh, injuries. Let's see now. I've dislocated my left knee 3 times and had to have surgery on both knees. Bleh. A box cutter stabbed my thumb and woah-ho, I've never seen so much blood in my life! This was at work so I had to run through the big store to the back, leaving a trail of blood. Not fun. *looks at scar*
I'm actually quite paranoid now.
Danny 04-25-2006, 11:52 PM Haha, you guys crack me up

acp28 04-26-2006, 02:09 PM This thread is making me squirm!
I'm totally accident prone, it would take me hours to list all of the injuries I've done myself, so here's the highlight reel: Fell down the stairs and fractured my wrist the day before I moved across the Atlantic; had a competition with my brother (a blackbelt - I was a dancer) to see who could kick higher, ended up kicking over my own head, flipping over backwards and breaking my arm; had an extremely large man step on my sandal-ed foot and break my toe in a club; took all of the skin off of my knee on a stationary bike at the gym (left a nasty scar and even I can't explain how it happened!); fell off a platform shoe getting off a schoolbus and broke my ankle; took a lacrosse ball to the face in the middle of a game, giving me a fat lip and two very sore front teeth (and a banning for 4 games for screaming some, erm, colorful words when I got hit); fractured my jaw - I don't even know how, and only found this out when I got my wisdom teeth out and they took an x-ray - the doctor was like "when did you break your jaw?" and my reply was "your guess is as good as mine"; stepped on a fishhook, which got lodged in my foot; fell off a dock and broke 3 toes ... the list goes on and on!
sunshinekitty1 04-26-2006, 06:54 PM I had a tonsillectomy and uvulectomy last year. It's not an injury, but for a month it was pure torture. Trying to drink was painful; the only two things I could tolerate were spoonfuls of whipped cream and warm milk. I've always loved whipped cream, I'll eat bowls of it just by itself.
Joshypoo 04-26-2006, 06:58 PM I fell through a plate glass window when I was 12 and have scars up and down my arms and hands.
Danny 04-27-2006, 09:27 PM Bobby... holy cow man! That was sooo nasty looking hahaha. *shiver*

dang girl...as for the platform shoe incident...see fashion is evil lol
Jezz1226 04-27-2006, 10:37 PM When I was in middle school I was going through one side of the door as someone was coming through the other side, and the door hit my foot. It was hurting really bad so when I got to class I took my shoe off (I was wearing tennis shoes, which really mystifys me as to how this could have happened) to look and see if my toe was bruised or anything and the nail (on the big toe) was standing straight up, the door must have caught it. Don't cringe yet though because thats not the end of it, we had a substitute in class that day, who made me walk all the way to the clinic by myself with the toenail sticking straight up and bleeding (yeah, I'm still bitter about that). In the clinic they decided the best thing to do was to push the nail back down, which hurt like anything, and to just leave it like that until it fell off by itself. Then about a week later I was over at a friends house and was barefoot and she accidently stepped on my toe, while wearing shoes, this caused the nail to completly fall off and start bleeding like crazy. Oh, and we have that second part (where my friend stepped on my foot) all on tape (can't remember why we were video taping) and I'm sure they could hear me scream "Get off my toe" for miles around.
Danny 04-27-2006, 10:42 PM Why do i keep torturing myself? lol.... that sounds so nasty Jezz! hahaha
stoo303 04-27-2006, 10:44 PM I broke my right elbow and wrist (at the same time) skating a few years ago. That was the first time I had ever broken anything. Sprained my ankle pretty bad when I was in high school. Other than that, nothing too bad.
Oh, but my nieghbor did clock me in the head with a golf club when I was about 4 or 5. That was the only time I have ever been knocked out.
Judging from this thread, I've been fairly lucky :) (knock on wood)

acp28 04-28-2006, 11:54 AM dang girl...as for the platform shoe incident...see fashion is evil lol
LOL it is! I forgot about the time I was blowdrying my hair and dropped the dryer on my toe ... it broke, and I had so much blood under the nail that they had to drill a hole in the nail (SO unpleasant) ... oh how we suffer to look good!
Danny 04-28-2006, 04:23 PM did you know that ten million people die every year just by sitting around the house? :p
then again..... i'd bet 95% of that is just the elderly ;)
Emptyy 04-29-2006, 09:37 AM I've never really had a bad injury. The worst was when I was jumping on my couch and then I fell and gashed open my head on the corner of the coffee table. Ouch. And then I pretended like nothing happened because I didn't want my mom to find out, because she told me not to jump on the couch. But, obviously, she found out what with the blood and me crying. I got a lot of stitches.
