Could someone tell me or direct me to any threads about theories on why the others took the children from the tail section? Also, why were there more children in the tail section?

Also, why were there more children in the tail section? thehiredgun 04-26-2006, 09:17 PM I think the reason the "Others" take the kids in general is because they want to recruit youngsters before they have any idea that the world is bigger than just the island. Its like raising a utopia where no-one knows that there's a larger world out there.. better for running all those Dharma experiments :) ellejaygee 04-26-2006, 09:21 PM They were all in the tail section so that their parents could yell, "If I have to come back there one more time..." //Sorry. Lame. Desperate for entertainment. BlindWatchmaker 04-26-2006, 09:22 PM Another thing, sort of related...If the others were so keen on getting Walt, why did they target Claire and her baby and wait to get Walt later? Why didn't they just try to abduct Walt in the first place the same way they did the other children? SmokeMonster 04-26-2006, 10:06 PM walt needed to be cornered to be caught. he's "special"! Why didn't they just try to abduct Walt in the first place the same way they did the other children? The other children were in a different place on the island then Walt. The fuselage side of the island didn’t suffer the same fate as the tallies because their infiltrate (Ethan) failed in his mission, which was to make a list of the all good people to abduct (including Walt) Without the list, they must have decided to formulate another plan. synchrony 04-26-2006, 11:02 PM Another thing, sort of related...If the others were so keen on getting Walt, why did they target Claire and her baby and wait to get Walt later? Why didn't they just try to abduct Walt in the first place the same way they did the other children? maybe the others are just as interested in aaron as they are in walt, but he would do better health wise to stay with claire while he is so young...so they focused on walt first? piscescat 04-27-2006, 01:56 AM I'm curious as to why the Others haven't tried to get Aaron again. They did take Alex when she was about a week old. I wonder if the Others are a little wary of Claire because she escaped and has memories of what they did to her. She could blow their cover, so to speak. Without knowing exactly what the Others are up to and how many of them there really are, it's hard to know if Claire really is a threat to them or not. But certainly, the Oceanic 815 survivors are putting up a good fight which perhaps wasn't the case with the other crash/shipwreck victims. ostrich1 04-27-2006, 01:35 PM Since there is so much going on, the writers don't have time to focus on everything, you know? That's probably why they haven't said much about the others wanting to take Aaron again. I think Aaron is more protected, too. Why didn't they just try to abduct Walt in the first place the same way they did the other children? Remember that the others drew a line in the sand for Jack and the fuelies. The tailies were well on the other side of that line. I think this adds alot to the way the tailies were treated harsher than the fuelies. But if you buy into some of the stranger Walt theories maybe the others were waiting to corner him somewhere where his abilities couldn't be used to stop them. It would suck if half of the other's party got mauled by a polar bear trying to get Walt... see kate run 04-27-2006, 02:30 PM I was thinking that the children might be more susceptible to the sickness and therefore the others are taking them as sort of protection. That being the reason for Claire being injected with the serum Ethan gave her. Also with the statement from Goodwin that the "children are better off ". Now also I think that Walt was taken because for some reason he maybe immune to the sickness from the statement of Zeke "Walt is a very special boy". So maybe they are experimenting on him to come up with a cure. It seems that everyone from Fenry to Goodwin say that they are "good", maybe in their eyes they don't seem to think taking the children is bad. Anyway that is my take on it! tatoomahmut 04-27-2006, 04:30 PM It seems that everyone from Fenry to Goodwin say that they are "good"... Not to change the subject but that reminded me of something they showed in the clip show. Remember when Sayid was going to kill Fenry and Fenry said something to the effect of "I'm a good person!" It really seemed like he was saying it as if "good" people don't die or get killed or punished or anything. It almost seemed it was not possible to him that he would be killed or harmed since he was "good". |
