So, inspired by the recap episode, I've gone back to the eps I bought from iTunes to get caught up with season two (and then kept downloading even after I was caught up just for fun).
While watching "Man of Science, Man of Faith," I noticed that there are several scenes in the episode where the castaways try to talk about everything that's going on, on the island, and we see the fruitlessness of it...(accusations of craziness, murmuring restless crowds)
I have to wonder if the people who accuse the Losties of not talking to each other are remembering these scenes.
they were a long time ago. I must say that rewatching these episode is raising my opinion of the season. I'm not sure if it's because I've read so many negative posts about it that it looks that much better, or if my memory was just dimmed after so long.

Example of not talking- Kate not telling Jack about the medical hatch.

Yeah, It definitely happens, and I always chalked it up to continuity issues and trying to stretch out the mysteries. But early in the season they talked a good deal and you can almost see a wedge starting to come between everyone (ie. in one of the first two eps, Hurley tells Jack about the numbers and Jack is a real jerk to him about it) in terms of communication.
It's definitely frustrating that they don't now, but I think it was actually written into the story pretty well--for the most part--and my opnion was informed more by peoples complaining on the boards.

I think that's why Fenry mentioned they had "issues". I think that was more for us, the viewer, then them.
I'm more mad Charlie or Eko never said anything then Kates Hatch.
I mean, smoke attacked him. You'd think you'd mention that at some point.

The Losties already think Charlie is back on drugs. He tried to kidnap Aaron. He lit the jungle on fire. He was caught with a whole cache of heroin statues. He attacked Sun (although only Sawyer knows.) Why would he reinforce the idea he was on drugs by saying he saw Mr Eko get attacked by smoke?
Mr Eko is a very private person. He looked on the smoke as some kind of religious revelation or miracle. That's very personal. Why would he share it and who would he share it with?
Weird things happen on the island. From polar bears to black horses, things appear that leave people questioning their sanity - people who have known each other only for about sixty days. If you think you are losing your mind, you certainly don't tell anybody and on the island who would you tell? Maybe you would go to the doctor but after seeing him scoff at Claire's concerns and then her being kidnapped and almost killed because he didn't take her seriously, I wouldn't trust him for a second.
The Losties have not organized and have not chosen leaders. We see Jack and Locke as the leaders. The rest of the survivors don't necessarily see it that way. While Jack and Locke are in the hatch sparring with each other, the rest of the Losties are back on the beach trying to deal with their situation.
[QUOTE][Jack is a real jerk to him about it/QUOTE]
Jack's a real jerk to a lot of people. Each of the survivors needs to confront some huge flaw in their character. Jack's flaw is his arrogance. Jack needs to face the fact that he is not God, he is not always right, and in fact, he has made some very bad decisions for himself and worse, for other people.

It isn't that no one shares information at all, just that there's no central person gathering all the information together. I keep expecting one of the sideline characters to turn out to be a journalist or a writer who will come to Jack or Locke urgently trying to get them to see the big picture that they've pieced together from talking to the various cast members.
