I've heard many conversations on a "Black rock, White rock" significance, does anyone have any ideas?

I used to think a lot, now I just think nothing, can't be too significant to never hear from them again. I don't care anymore I'm no more curious, they've totally killed it for lizardcakes I'm honest. You leave people hanging and stuff like that will happen if you watch out, guess they don't really care. Cause I've slid into a state of total apathy concerning the black and white rocks.

It's not so much apathy as the Black and white rocks were just funnelled into the opposites discussion because of lack of more information on the show about them. Plus, the Black Rock being a ship instead of a rock distracted enough people that they figured that was all there was to it other than the opposite thing. I still remember the black rock drawn in Claire's diary but like most things with the Losties, it's been dropped to the wayside along with so many, many other story arcs.

I think the black and white colors do, not the rocks themselves.
Black/white.
Good/bad.

That site, while REALLY, super cool, is not an official Disney site. It's put together by the UK's Ch. 4...So, I wouldn't put to much stake in anything from there...although I'm sure they had TPTB's help and blessing in putting it together. I think it's better than any of the "official" Lost sites Disney has going.

The Black and White rocks were used to set up the binary oppositions that would run throughout the whole show. They don't need to reappear ever again because they've done they're job. Every instance from here on out of a binary opposition springs from the first mentions of black and white in the earliest episodes.

If anything it's not an insult to the fans that they've not appeared more often because Damon and Cuse probably think they're significance is obvious.

Most signifcant binaries:
Good/Bad (as defined by The Others)
Faith/Science
Gilgamesh (Civilization)/ Enkidu (Society)
Before the Crash / After the Crash
Yin/Yang (as appears in the DHARMA logoes)

What's interesting is no one ever says black is bad and white is good... Locke just says there's always two sides. Depending on your life expereince, your point of view, The Others may end up being the good guys and the Losties the real baddies. (Granted we're going to have to be shown something very outside the box, but I think that may be coming.)

All that matters regarding the black/white is recognizing that all facets of existence are always organized as two opposing forces. As Yoda once said, "There is always two..."

That's a good point, but when Lockes says, "one is dark, and the other light"... can that be assumed to be good and evil? Or am I confusing the myothology of Star Wars here. lol. Anyways, I am inclined to think black and white mean more about balance of opposing forces... such as the ying yang does so well. The opposing forces do not have to be evil and good, but can be fire and water....

Isn't it obvious? The Others arranged for a series of random events to bring new blood to the island so they could finally have the Go tournament of their dreams.

The black and white rocks were found at the same time of Adam and Eve.

They rocks only represent Bernard and Rose and were to reemphasize about Adam and Eve.

It is just symbolism and foreshadowing that Bernard and Rose will not leave the island...Adam and Eve died on the island....

I don't think we should discount this website just yet. There is a lot of new information here, and the site design is consistent with that of the Oceanicflight815 site. A lot of people have been looking for Sayid's last name, that information is there. It is Jarrah.

More soon as I fiddle about with this thing more...

Gilgamesh (Civilization)/ Enkidu (Society)
Has this dichotomy been proven to be relevant to the show?

Has Blackgammon been mentioned? Didn't Locke say it was an ancient game?

Gilgamesh and an unlikely friend Enkindu travel to the Cedar forest to hunt the demon guardian of the forest, Humbaba...
