Peephole 05-05-2006, 07:18 AM When you go to active projects and then to the mental health appeal link there is a space on the right to click that says Inquire today. It open a space that says tell us more about yourself. No matter what I put in there I get a session timed out message. Has anyone else figured out anything here?
Also has there been any mention that the profile of the pictire of Alvar Hanso really looks like that of Jacks Dad. Could he be on the life extension project and maybe just made to look dead for transport or something?
I could be grabbing at anything but the picture really reminds me of Jack's Dad.
The man in the picture is NOT Jack's father. He looks kind of the same but it's not him.
I do think Jack's father will have a connection to the Hanso Foundation though. I think we're gonna discover all of the characters of the series have a link to the Hanso foundation. Although I must say so far there isn't anything that links Christian to the Hanso Foundation. The only possible links to the Hanso Foundation we have at the moment is Sun's father who most likely is the owner of Paik Heavy Industries and Walt's mother who died of unexpectedly of a mysterious illness in just a couple of days.

lrdgrifter 05-05-2006, 08:17 AM Just a quick note, and I do not mean to sound snarky when I say this, but remember folks, they (TPTB) have come out and said that you don't really have to know much of anything about the show (or even have watched it) to play the game. Just something to keep in mind when you're letting your mind churn away at the possibilities. :)
lopezfamilymail 05-05-2006, 10:04 AM Alright - some random information I have found. I do not know if any of it has been found or suggested by others. (BTW - This place needs to be freaking organized better. It's a bigger mess than my 7 year old's bedroom.)
In the rap song that plays on Option 1 on the US phone line, part of the lyrics mention a Sprite can. Maybe we should look around the Sprite website? Maybe a clue will be placed on Sprite cans? I don't know. Crazy but entirely possible with these guys! LOL.
Some people have come up with excellent anagrams and name definitions. Love it. Great work.
I Googled Joop and one of the results was a Wiki entry for "Gerardus Joseph (Joop) Zoetemelk", a dutch cyclist. Accoding to Wikipedia, "He became the oldest World Cycling Champion in 1985, at the age of 38 years and 9 months."
Has anyone been researching the "band" Geronimo Jackson and the album "Magna Carta" to see what they can get out of that?
And.... darn. My brain just froze up. I'll be back when I think of more things to send people hunting on. ROFL.
glittersaturn 05-05-2006, 10:34 AM Not sure if maybe someone thought of this already...but I know a lot of people have mentioned the resemblance Jack's father bears to the dude on hansofoundation.org....I was actually thinking that, from afar, you could easily mistake Jack's father for Alvar Hanso...or vice versa....I was recently thinking that maybe the man in season one that Jack saw that he thought was his father actually is Alvar Hanso......or maybe I am completely nuts, ha ha. Any thoughts?

There's nothing to be found on the internet about Geronimo Jackson, they're just too obscure.

Do you have a link to this quote? I don't recall TPTB saying this. What I've read is that you don't have to play the game to continue to enjoy the show, which is kind of the opposite of this claim. But if you have a link I would appreciate it.

Has anyone been researching the "band" Geronimo Jackson and the album "Magna Carta" to see what they can get out of that?
Yeah, we've been researching Geronimo Jackson for months. Ever since the record showed up in "The Hunting Party" and Damon mentioned the band by name on the podcast. As far as anyone can tell they are not a real band. The band and the album were made up for the show. How they will factor in later remains to be seen.

soundchick 05-05-2006, 12:23 PM After hearing about the info in the voicemail or after calling the 800 number, I did a Google search on Sri Lanka. Remember how the lady says something about "I don't like what's happening there." A result for Wilkpedia comes up and one of the things highlighted was: "The lowest gravitational field on Earth lies just off the coast of Sri Lanka." Does this have anything to do with anything? I have no clue because I am not a Physics major nor ever want to be. I tried doing a search on islands off the coast of Sri Lanka or find out where the exact location of the the lowest gravitional field is but I came up empty. Does anyone else think that there could be something to this?

http://www.theholisticshop.com/acatalog/Namaste.html
I think the greeting "Namaste" has a lot of meaning. It is said by everyone on the phone line - even by the guy who is freaking out and angry - he ends it with Namaste. LOL. The lady on the website ends with "Namaste".
Here is a very interesting text from: http://www.flex.com/~jai/articles/namaste1.html
For, Hindu(s), of course, the greeting of choice is "Namaste,"
the two hands pressed together and held near the heart with the
head gently bowed as one says, "Namaste." Thus it is both a
spoken greeting and a gesture, a Mantr(a) and a Mudr(a). The
prayerful hand position is a Mudr(a) called Anjali, from the root
Anj, "to adorn, honor, celebrate or anoint." The hands held in
union signify the oneness of an apparently dual cosmos, the
bringing together of spirit and matter, or the self meeting the
Self. It has been said that the right hand represents the higher
nature or that which is divine in us, while the left hand
represents the lower, worldly nature.
In Sanskrit "Namas" means, "bow, obeisance, reverential
salutation." It comes from the root Nam, which carries meanings
of bending, bowing, humbly submitting and becoming silent. "Te"
means "to you." Thus "namaste" means "I bow to you." the act of
greeting is called "Namaskaram," "Namaskara" and "Namaskar" in
the varied languages of the subcontinent.
Namaste has become a veritable icon of what is Bharatiye. Indeed,
there must be a Bharatiye law which requires every travel
brochure. calendar and poster to include an image of someone with
palms pressed together, conveying to the world Bharat's
hospitality, spirituality and graceful consciousness. You knew
all that, of course, but perhaps you did not know that there can
be subtle ways of enhancing the gesture, as in the West one might
shake another's hand too strongly to impress and overpower them
or too briefly, indicating the withholding of genuine welcome.
In the case of Namaste, a deeper veneration is sometimes
expressed by bringing the fingers of the clasped palms to the
forehead, where they touch the brow, the site of the mystic Third
Eye. A third form of namaste brings the palms completely above
the head, a gesture said to focus consciousness in the subtle
space just above the Brahma-randhra, the aperture in the Crown
Chakr(a). This form is so full of reverence it is reserved for
the Almighty and the holiest of Sat Guru(s).
ImpatientUR 05-05-2006, 01:14 PM I have been saying the same thing. So far we have so many connex to jack's dad AND his body was NOT in that coffin.....He's part of this somehow - I just don't know how yet.
Except that in the original pilot Jack was supposed to be killed
so if TPTB truely knew the main idea of the show when created, like they say they do, then why would they want to do this because
there would be no Jack flashbacks showing his dad
Sorry, this is completely off topic of the thread.
In an attempt to make this post somewhat relevant, has anyone tried typing different diseases in the mental illness inquiry on the site (sorry, I don't have it pulled up right now so I foget the exact name)?
lopezfamilymail 05-05-2006, 01:27 PM Ok - forgot who said that one doesn't necessarily have to be a fan of the show LOST to play the ARG - but someone questioned if that was really said. It was.
"
The game's premise will be rooted in Lost history, but ABC said that you don't need to have watched the show to get in on the game, which will feature new characters and delve deeper into the manipulative Hanso Foundation that was introduced in season two as the benefactor of the button-pushing Dharma Initiative.
There is no grand prize for those who manage to piece the puzzle together, but ABC promises that those who play will end up learning some of the island's better-kept secrets. "
Source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/eo/20060425/en_tv_eo/18877
----This means that someone can play (supposedly) without ever having watched the show - BUT - fans of the show may find something in it to enlighten them to the show... So hard to keep straight! My brain wants to mix them so badly! LOL.
Still nothing up at www.geronimo-jackson.com/ (http://www.geronimo-jackson.com/) . Description says Geronimo Jackson 2006. We're getting back together!" - but site won't come up.
Still "no new messages" at the Hanso Foundation.
Lastly, and this could be completely irrelavent, I was watching a show last night on National Geographic or Discovery or something - can't even remember. It was a show about the "aura" - better known as The Northern Lights and how they send like satellites up to view it from different angles - and how vast it is, etc etc. At one point they said something about "a place where only polar bears live". .. The pic on the Hanso foundation immediatly jumped to my mind - the one of the Northern Lights from space - and the infamous Polar Bear from LOST...... LOL. Probably nothing important here. Just something to give to the psychiatrist when I finally lose my mind playing this ARG ;) ... I know ARG stands for Alternate Reality Game but I think the frustrated sound "ARG!" ties in as well. LOL. ;)

sure there would: we would see christian in sawyer's, anna lucia's, and others as i am sure we are going to find out. the question is how did jack become significant enough for TPTB to keep him around?
darkpiranha 05-05-2006, 01:40 PM The "dead Jack" idea was abandoned long before most of the mythology of the island was created, so I don't really think the fact that Jack was supposed to die in the pilot (in the first draft) has any bearing on his importance later on.
In fact, I recall in an interview with Damon Lindeloff (I believe), when writing the pilot episode and planning out the ground rules for the show, JJ Abrams said "I want there to be a secret hatch on the island. I don't know what's in it yet, but we'll figure that out later."
And besides, they change this stuff as they go, anyway. Until the moment something is mentioned on-screen, it can be changed however drastically they want. Case in point, one of Ana-Lucia's initial reasons for being on the show was to give Jack another love interest, and in early episodes, you can sense that's where they were going with that. But the producers have stated that in reality, that idea just wasn't working out like they planned, so they abandoned it.
rabia 05-05-2006, 01:42 PM when when they were doing the screenings to the test audiences (which they doto get feed back) that Jack got lots of ooohs and awwws from the ladies and kept him around for the chick factor...
also if you look at the characters they all seem to have a yin to their yang
jack vs sawyer
claire vs ana lucia
etc etc
also i just thought of something:
didnt claire's boyfriend say that he couldn't have gotten her preggers? i am wondering if this is a Virgin Mary reference?

It sucks to be even one day behind everybody especially when this folder is so hard to navigate. (THAT'S ANOTHER PLEA FOR ORGANIZATION!... anybody?)
The US number does not contain the password you need for the Hanso Foundation website. This password was revealed on the UK phone number.
Go to http://www.thehansofoundation.org Click to sign up for their newsletter. Type your name. Type "Yes". Type "Breaking Strain" (that is your password). This will "unlock" the website for you and allow you to get updates on what's going on - so far there have been no "new messages" or updates though.

I think the US phone number did have the password, but you have to call several times. Sometimes Persephone breaks in with the password, and sometimes you just get other stuff. I think the UK number did the same thing, which is weird.
ETA: Not sure if you've come across it, but you can make suggestions about how you think this forum can best be organized here. (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=46061)
DharmaChick 05-05-2006, 02:35 PM Some of the words DO sync up like when she is indicating the menus to her right and at the end "Thank You and Namaste".
So it would be odd that it would sync up in some places and not others. Unless she just has some funny mouth movements, there are definitely a few parts that are different.
lopezfamilymail 05-05-2006, 02:37 PM Ok - I am still hung up on that rap song when you call the US number and pick option #1. Seems like you're on hold or whatever and there is a rap song by what sounds like a black female artist. The lyrics I caught were "Got my mind on white man jealousy like colors on a Sprite Can, color of the sun"....
If this isn't trying to lead us to something what is it? Just to keep me busy? Cause I'm wasting hours trying to figure it out. LOL.
First I looked to see if this was a "real" song by typing "Sprite Can lyrics" into Google. I just got a Lil Kim song - which at first is like - WOW, this is something! Because she is a black female rapper... But then I read the lyrics. http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/Lil-Kim/The-Jump-Off-Remix.html
ROFLMAO... I don't see anything intellectually signifigant here. (No offence Lil Kim).
"You thought the Sprite can was off the meter - Imagine what I'd do with a two litre" (Gross. LOL.)
Anyhow - then I was like, fine, whatever (don't you like how advanced my vocabulary is when I talk to myself?) - and I went to http://www.sprite.com/index.jsp
I remembered their slogan - "Obey Your Thirst." ... Something? Nothing? I don't know.
On the website they have this big blue flashing handprint, which is kinda like creepy in a flashing Hanso website-esque kind of way. Next to the hand it says "Do U have the proof?"
Click on that hand and it opens another window with an explanation of what they mean by "Do U have the proof" - like some kind of campaign to "be yourself" or whatever and they say "Sprite shows it's proof June 2006." ... I was going to give up but then I ran my mouse over some of the photos of people and they get creepy and fuzzy. Also in the upper right hand corner - look at the Sprite can all freaking out graphically and stuff. LOL.
Then I was like, Ok, but why would Sprite get involved. So I decided to check out who they're owned by. They're owned by Coca-cola company and Coca-Cola company is owned by ? ... I'm exhausted! Someone please find out if Coca-Cola is affiliated with Disney/ ABC. If not, do Coca Cola or Sprite advertise on ABC?
Whew.

bossofrandr 05-05-2006, 03:42 PM great find, now what the heck does it mean?
#32 seems to appear the most, maybe it's important or a way to seperate the strands of #'s?
Man of Science 05-05-2006, 03:46 PM @ http://www.thehansofoundation.org/, go to the WWP DP under Active Projects. Then click on "World Map". You will see there are 3 hospitals there. There is another one off the coast of Florida too. Then move your mouse over the left and and you will see some faint text. It's was unreadable... until I took a screen shot and cropped it. I also changed the colors to B/W. Here is a link to the image I created: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a196/conorflynn/lost.jpg.
Does anyone know what type of font that is??? Can anyone use OCR to decypher it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
bossofrandr 05-05-2006, 03:49 PM It was done already, we all think it is "missing organs".
Passenger 23B 05-05-2006, 03:50 PM It's in the swf file for Persephone section. Actually, there are two text files with this "code", one has white letters and the other one has green ones...
Here's the original text (with green letters): http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/4373/code6xh.png (http://imageshack.us)
I know about the white file in the map section... how do you find or access the swf file in the Persephone section? I still can't find it.
bossofrandr 05-05-2006, 03:58 PM Ransak found it intially on this site, but I found it by right clicking anywhere on the page and choosing to let the hand select text. Then highlighting the entire page, it's at the bottom left.

my brain hurts I posted this press release thing in "clues" with all of the details I have found so far (not sure if that was the appropriate place).
Anyway, those numbers, decoded, are a link back to thehansofoundation.org, according to some. I'm double-checking that.
sskeard 05-05-2006, 04:13 PM I have my boyfriend on the task of decrypting the numbers on the persephone page. I am sending the following email to the link at the bottom of the media release:
Good day sir,
I am emailing you today to inquire about the problems on your website. Does the word, Dharma, mean anything to you?
Thanks and Namaste
Stacey Skeard
Edit: Just before sending, I added the following sentence: How about the phrase, missing organs?
bossofrandr 05-05-2006, 04:19 PM I emailed it, it didn't go thru.
harrisaimster 05-05-2006, 04:22 PM DUnno if this is repetative but if you go to joops corner and then send message type in persephone and it comes up with a blue thing with circles click on the circles and they will make some sort of strange diagram and a red circle will pop up click on that then a letter will come up read it and then click on the signature then click above the signature then do the same for the next letter and then thats where my fun ended..................
100%
does anyone know what to put in the login box at the bottom right hand corner????
sskeard 05-05-2006, 04:27 PM Okay, it bounced back for me too....that email was McIntyre@thehansofoundation.org
I noticed that the email address printed at the bottom of the release was Hugh.McIntyre@thehansofoundation.org so I tried that, as well as 861-5017/Hugh.McIntyre@thehansofoundation.org.
The email address with the numbers bounced back (don't even know if you can have a / in an email address) but the Hugh one didn't. Yet.

Seriously?
Both of those posts have been discussed at length in any number of threads here. Try the search function on this site, it is very helpful. Just a friendly suggestion.
The letters have been posted in their entirety in a few threads.
We have not found a log in for the box at the bottom right. So far it seems like there is no login. That part of the site is believed to be inactive at this point. We will probably get a log in later.

No, you can't have a ' / ' in any kind of 'title' or 'variable' for pretty much anything computer related as it is almost always an operator/function of some sort. It's usually designates different levels of a path.
Ok, too much geeky info? Sorry. :)
Anyway, keep us posted on the email.
I'll give it a try, too.
I wonder, though, if there is something specific that must be sent to him?

I dont see a spot at the top left to write anything so if anyone know what this is please let us know.
sskeard 05-05-2006, 04:44 PM I think on the last page, some said that they had decrypted the numbers from persephone's new 'press release message' and it led back to the main site. Is this true? It looks like a phrase to me, not a web address (but I'm no code expert).
Anyone else working on this?

Though it's rather odd that part of his phone # is included in the blue underlined hyperlink-type text.
rainyhoney 05-05-2006, 04:50 PM go to Joop's corner and as the page comes up and spells out "joop's Corner' in scribbly lines on the top left, move your cursor around under it and your cursor changes for arrow to letter writing cursor and you can type
100%
but there is no send button, if you hit enter it just goes to next line, hit backspace to go back to what you typed
I dont see a spot at the top left to write anything so if anyone know what this is please let us know.
In the Joop's Corner section right under the handwritten 'Joop's Corner'.
Below the first O of Joop's the cursor changes and you can enter something.
Well, if that was too late:
http://the-lost-experience.blogspot.com/
It seems that someone cracked Persephone's code with the ROT13 algorithm.
But I can't retrace this step. As far as I know there are only the letters A to Z in ROT13.
For additional characters you need ROT47...
And "May 1" was five days ago...

DarthDogbert 05-05-2006, 05:18 PM there is a hidden link at the bottom of the news release:
http://persephone.thehansofoundation.org/

my brain hurts
Converting from ASCII to text (http://www.neurophys.wisc.edu/www/comp/docs/ascii.html), and then running the result through a ROT13 decoder (http://www.rot13.com/index.php) (shifts the characters up 13 spaces), gives you the following:
wob efas si sirT 1 yaM gho.FRT ta bi goV
Reversing, you get:
Vog ib at TRF.ohg May 1 Tris is safe bow
Exchange V <-> L, R <-> H, and B <-> N, it becomes:
Log in at THF.org May 1 This is safe now
Finally, since the ROT13 decoder didn't shift up the 1 in "May 1", I'm assuming the message is saying to log in to thehansofoundation.org on May 14.
ASCII !
Now I get it...
Thanks @DarthDogbert.
I guess now we just have to wait 9 days... oô
mattwan 05-05-2006, 05:47 PM Thanks, Darth Dogbert. I'd been wondering how that was supposed to work.
*sigh* Setting the system clock ahead to May 14 (or back to May 1) doesn't seem to do anything. Guess we'll have to wait for the real date to roll around.
sskeard 05-05-2006, 05:58 PM Alright, first of all, still no response to my email (it hasn't bounced).
Second, there is an actual THF.org site for Dreyfus Health Foundation. It appears to be a legitimate site, but I wonder what they're going to think about the increased traffic if they're not disney/abc affiliated.
Thirdly, the way the mental health guy's pic shows up over Joop's has been nagging at me. Was there any point in that? Looking over the Mental Health Appeal section (focussing somewhat on the guy's picture) I noticed that the first letters of the first four lines spell out 'I HopE'. The rest of the lines appear to be gibberish. I don't think it means anything, but is anyone else still wondering why our attention was drawn to this picture in the first place?
anijen21 05-05-2006, 06:31 PM okay maybe I'm on crack but I cannot find the link to this press release anywhere on the hanso site. Anyone want to lend a helping hand?

I've thought a about this a little too. My first impression is that the mental health guy is somehow involved in the Life Extension project.
In the Joop video, he goes berzerk at the very end. This may suggest that the Life-Extension project, however successful in primates, causes severe mental instabilities the more "unaturally young" one stays. If history shows us anything it's that nature always catches up in the end.
If Joop really does suffer from severe mental illness as a result of the Life Extension project then maybe the mental health guy is the one responsible for treating, or researching the causes in order to better understand the programs effects on humans.
Anyhow, The Joop video interesed me too, my theory is probably complete rubbish.
Eisenhower 05-05-2006, 06:36 PM here is the press release: http://www.thehansofoundation.org/press/05_05_06.pdf
In the press release he said :
“From the dawn of our species, Man has been blessed with curiosity. Our
most precious gift, without exception, is the desire to know more - to
look beyond what is accepted as the truth and to imagine what is
possible.” Alvar Hanso, Address to the U.N. Security Council, 1967"
When jack was talking to Zeke , Zeke told the exact same words ( may be this is old news)

Thanks for your help, everyone!

go to the joop page, where it says "leave a message for joop"
on the first line enter "4,8,15,16,23,42" and send it
A video pops up and it goes to this amazing screen, it looks like the blast door map!

urbandruid 05-05-2006, 11:23 PM When you get
Vog ib at TRF.ohg May 1 This is safe foh bow
why replace the R with an H? Just because an h is replaced by a r right after? OR is it some sort of mathematical clue?
Replacing V with L is 16 places
b with n is 11 places
R with H is 16 places
h with r is 11 places
16 11 16 11?
Of course in ASCII it would be diferent values...but I've got a headache from doing the ascii decoding off a table by hand because some guys at the blogspot site are reporting an extra S in the .org addy...so I'm not going to try and firgure it out now.
Thank you mod
holycanoliz 05-05-2006, 11:53 PM Ok - I am still hung up on that rap song when you call the US number and pick option #1. Seems like you're on hold or whatever and there is a rap song by what sounds like a black female artist. The lyrics I caught were "Got my mind on white man jealousy like colors on a Sprite Can, color of the sun"....
just my idea...the colors on sprite are usually green, silver, blueish, at least that's how they are here. the picture of the northern lights on the hanso website, (where the caption says something like "morning of october something 2001") are these same colors. significance?
someguy 05-05-2006, 11:56 PM the ROT13 was wrong, if you do it with a ROT18 it says May 6th.
I guess we'll get a message when we log in to the newsletter on the 6th
urbandruid 05-06-2006, 12:01 AM Another thing about the picture of the northern lights: if you Google the date the first thing that comes up is a NASA page about solar storms. If you look around a bit you can read the effects of various solar storms on Earth. They include radio interference and effects on passengers and crew of high flying aircraft. I don't know how high 40,000 ft is relatively, but could this have something to do with the plane going down?
A similiar page about a major solar storm comes up for Oct 28 03, the date below Hanso's picture on the Exec Bios page.
Could the island be some kind of magnet to such energies?
Thanks someguy.
lister_to 05-06-2006, 12:34 AM well it's now May 6th, and if you enter a name in the newsletter signup field, you get something new.. although there isn't much too it (that I can see so far).
this is what comes up:
Welcome back
No new messages
bye, bye
...
Then a shot of Joop freaking out for a second, and that's it.

Yeah, I tried it too, same thing. That message is what happens every time you sign in after the first time, however. Either we deciphered the numbers wrong, or else the people running the site haven't updated it...but then that seems to destroy the purpose of the clock in the upper left hand corner, doesn't it? Oh well we won't know for 24 hours if we were right or wrong, will we?
jerrybergin 05-06-2006, 02:18 AM I read through 23 pages of replies regarding the hansofoundation.org updates. I didn't read anything about this but it's interesting: When you go to "Active Projects" and then to "Mental Health Appeal" it mentions the VIK Institute. At the bottom it says "Inquire Here." When you click on that it asks "tell us a bit more about yourself." Every time I writes something and enter it says "Sorry connection timed out."
Does anyone get something different? I'd love to hear!
Thanks!

DaSenor2427 05-06-2006, 02:42 AM OK, I'm dumb... How do you do ROT18?
Carencey 05-06-2006, 02:44 AM OK, locking this thread but keeping it for archival purposes. We now have a separate thread for each main page/section of the hansofoundation.org website because of the sheer volume of stuff to discuss on here, and that seemed like the simplest way to do it, considering the amount some of these topics can overlap. Therefore each Easter Egg/update can be discussed on the page where its link appears. For instance, the new PDF with the code is linked from the homepage. I've tried to update each front page post with a description of the page as it looks currently and the known easter eggs so that posters can look at the first post and see if what they're about to post is already known, and as the threads get longer, we can add page jumps to the newest information. If you know of anything I've missed or made a mistake on, please post in the appropriate thread and I or one of the other mods will update the post. Thanks.
