View Full Version : Bird Flu commercial
Knight of Nih 05-07-2006, 12:06 AM OK, when I saw the Bird Flu commercial Wednesday, I almost missed when TWICE, there was a full screen display of numbers and some legible text. I paused the ol DVR, went back slowly and couldn't make anything out of them, but they didn't seem to refer to the movie. I didn't record it, so no screen caps. Anyone else see that? Am I making too much out of this? It would almost make sense that fictional "hanso" would embed code during a fictional movie about something the organization would be trying to control.
I hope someone else saw it. I'm not wacko. It aired before the Hanso commercial somewhere after 8:30 CST If it's a clue, it's a doozy!:eek2:
lostinme 05-07-2006, 01:40 PM Yes, I saw that, and originally though it was the ARG phone clue we were looking for. It was a page full of binary.
Knight of Nih 05-07-2006, 11:51 PM Saw the same commercial during the San Antonio/Maverics Game.Tthere was a Lost banner on the sidelines in the Fourth Quarter. At the next TV timeout, the Bird Flu commercial ran again. I saw the words "readout" and the binary code. The last time the page flashed on, it was different. Something about "respond" or reply. Not long after that, the promo for Wednesday's Lost aired. The other thing is that there were 3 pages of the code this time. I am guessing this is nothing, but maybe ABC is trying to boost viewing for the movie if Lost fans think there might be some new clues. Someone tell me how to do a screen cap!!!
DharmaChick 05-08-2006, 02:45 PM Are you referring to the ads for this: http://abc.go.com/movies/birdflu.html ?
If so, I've seen this commercial.
For anyone who hasn't seen it, there are 3 black screens with numbers on them that flash briefly during this ad. The ad is for a made-for-tv movie, set to air tomorrow night, about the avian flu.
It certainly catches your attention.
However, I am 99% sure that I saw twos, threes, fives, and other (non-binary) numbers, so this was not "binary code".
I don't think that it is easy to dismiss anything, especially any sort of numbers being aired on ABC, as being part of the game. Personally, though, I'm not sure if this one is relevant or if it's just a dramatic counter or sorts for victims of the bird flu in this movie.
chellly 05-08-2006, 09:40 PM I just saw it and really think it's just part of the commercial for the movie and not related to the game.
PinkDog 05-08-2006, 09:51 PM Good lord. I hope that movie's not related to the game because I'd hate to have to waste two hours of my life watching it. Especially if I had to watch it closely for clues. Argh.
Oggie 05-09-2006, 09:00 AM Actually I plan on watching it tonight anyways. I'll keep my eyes peeled to see if there are any connections between the movie and Lost. But I highly doubt it.
Alot of people are slamming ABC for putting out yet another doom and gloom, oh we're gonna die, it's the BIRD FLU!!!! Crap made for TV movie. But it's all entertainment as far as I'm concerned. And if the movie sucks I'll get a good laugh making my own MST 3000 show while watching it.
DharmaChick 05-09-2006, 12:54 PM Good lord. I hope that movie's not related to the game because I'd hate to have to waste two hours of my life watching it. Especially if I had to watch it closely for clues. Argh. No kidding!!
Knight of Nih 05-09-2006, 11:09 PM Well, there were plenty of Hanso commercials, plus the longer Lost Promo for tomorrow during the movie. I DVR'd it and fast forwarded to the commercials(take that ABC). sublymonal.com is a neat site, and should continue to reveal new stuff. The displays during the commercials for the movie were never explained, just showed up in the opening credits. For some reason, the numers and text were shown upside down and also sideways.
I really think the whole commercial run for the movie was a way to get us to watch this stupid thing. But, if you missed the new info and hadn't seen the longer promo, it was worth it.

Is it just me or does the wallpaper contain circles & coloring that kinda look like what you have to click on in the flash game inside joop to get the memos???
cameronbh206 05-10-2006, 07:02 AM That was the exact same thing that I thought when I looked at it. The blue circles with the dots inside are the same things as in the Joop thing
MrsMas 05-10-2006, 08:10 AM I went to the sublymonal.com site and it was just TVs flashing around. Does anything else happen?
Oggie 05-10-2006, 08:15 AM Yes, go back and look at the TV's again. If you move your mouse around you'll find one of the TV's is clickable. Click it 4 times, all the TV's will rotate and the next one in line is clickable. Use the numbers. 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42. Click each TV the right amount of times to proceed. I'll let you experience the rest from there.

Huh! I didn't catch that, but yes they do look quite similar. Well, it's Lost night, so that's all that matters for now. Go Eko and Locke!
kandon 05-10-2006, 04:01 PM Is there anywhere to view the commercial(s)?
DharmaChick 05-11-2006, 12:24 PM Is there anywhere to view the commercial(s)? Not for the Bird Flu movie, but for the Haso foundation commercial...
