Damn! That's an interesting part. And when it gets even more interesting it cuts off again, great stuff.

Ok just watched it, interesting but one big thing that needs explaining.

If Gary Troup wrote The Valanzetti Equation surely he and/or his publishers would hold the original manuscript and copies of the book. Ok Alvar Hanso bought every single other copy but surely an author keeps a copy of his book, even if it were notes, rough drafts, electronic copies etc.

Well it's not like he wouldn't know what's in it. He *wrote* it.

I was under the impression that TPTB first introduced Gary Troup as the guy that was sucked into the jet engine in the Pilot... though I can't find that now. Maybe I made it up?

Probably why they had to send him off on Oceanic flight 815.
I'm sure that they took care of whatever he left behind.

So do you think thats the sole reason the plane crashed? To kill Gary Troup?

What if The Valenzetti Equation was actually encrypted into Bad Twin some how?

Not at all.
I doubt that it's the only reason, but that's probably why he was on it. Well, not necessarily to die (as he may have survived), but at the very least to get out of the media and to a place where he could be kept under their watch.

It's a different actor, that's for sure.
TPTB just said that Gary Troup died in the crash, when someone asked if he was the turbine man they said something like: "it could be but noone really knows".
