When the Fuselage offered the Boxed Set of Season I, we got a really great deal if we bought it through here but the Season II set is just as expensive as most TV show sets are ($59.99). I wonder if they'll have a lower price as we get nearer to the release date? I sure hope so as that's too high for my budget. :frown:

Well, I'll probably buy it no matter what it costs but it would be nice if they wouldn't sell these box sets for so much. I mean yeah, it costs a lot to have that nice glossy packaging and that heavy weight paper but the disks only cost like $0.12 each. I know there are other costs going into it than just the materials but $60 each?

Take my advice everyone and don't pre-order. If you do, you'll lock in at the full list price of $59.99. I bought Season one a few weeks after it came out and Amazon had it for $38.99, a much nicer price. Amazon lowers the price almost as soon as it is released so if you order it early, you'll get snookered.

I look at it this way ... if the price goes down and I've pre-ordered, I'm stuck. If the price stays the same and I don't pre-order, nothing lost (pun intended ;))

Thanks!!

It usually will get cheaper closer to the release date. But, compared to other DVD sets, it is still a great value, 7 discs (one whole disc for features). I remember paying almost that ($44.99) much for my House M.D. season 1 DVDs, and it only had 3, double-sided discs, AND lame extras.

This is probably a stupid and obvious question, but would amazon.com deliver to the U.K for an added fee, but then would those discs even work in my U.K dvd player? So far I've been living with "home made" DVD's of the episodes. ;) Sad, but damn I've seen more lost than mostly everyone in the U.K so im happy with my choices.

I know many European VHS players/recorders are multi-regional but I don't know if that's how the DVD players are over there. I know my friend in Holland has one that is multi-regional but it was pricier than the one that only plays the Euro versions.

Ahh kk, you see thats why i thought it was an obvious question, lol. Well I'l look into it, thanks. If i cant then I'l just stick with my current dvds. I have up to episode 19 in High definition, about 4 discs with epi's 1-9, and another 2 with epi's 1-21. Soon to have the last episodes. Good old ebay, the modern black market. :P

60 bucks is the set retail price, but retailers usually sell it for 10 bucks less. Go to dvdactive.com or any other dvd site, their retail price is always 10 bucks higher. DVDs that are single discs usually go for about 30, but are sold for 20 (or even lower in some places). Special edition 2 discs go for a retail 40 bucks, but are sold for about 30.

i suggest buying your dvds at www.deepdiscountdvd.com. It the best place to buy DVDs for cheap, although the shipping may take a while.

Normally the week the dvd comes out places like Best Buy and Circuit City will have it for 10 or 15 dollars off. I'd just wait until that week and not even bother to pre-order it. I have yet to go and find an item sold out.

The sad thing is that if it doesn't drop below $60, we will all still find a way to buy it anyways. I paid that much for the only season of the Oblongs and more than twice that for each of my Twilight Zone sets....course I lived on burritos and grilled cheese for two weeks at a time, but it was worth it.

Well if it stays at $60 bucks, then I have two words.

Lay.
Away.

Thanks for all the ideas, suggestions and tips! I just can't see paying that much and if it stays that high ... I have one word ... eBay!

DVDs whether movies or television collections always are on sale the first week they're released. I remember hearing plenty of people complain about how when they pre-ordered Lost Season One from amazon.com, they did not receive it until a week or so after it being released. They don't pre-ship. So, make sure that you buy it in a store...plus you will get it on sale.

Those are MSRP prices. I think it was $39 at Walmart when it came out last year. I would be willing to be S2 will be the same. Only paramount is dumb enough to make season sets that cost over $100.

You crazy fool, you read my mind!

I actually bought both Lost and House on the same day, I spent $45 on House, and $30 for Lost (though I got it from a record store...which I now blame for my addiction...), and the Lost box kicks the butt of House, no question. No commentary, three two-sided discs (yick), terrible extras...I got gypped on it. If it wasn't, y'know, HOUSE!!!, I never woulda payed that much, especially for such a crappy set.

The Lost box, however. I bought the set before seeing more than one episode, because, y'know, money to burn and I was sick of hearing people rave about it. I thought that it was a sound purchase, even if I didn't like the show. The packaging is just so satisfying, really. 7 discs, one entirely devoted to special features (albiet ones that are lacking, but still good), beautiful menus...it's a great set.

And to think...I almost bought Seinfeld instead of Lost...good lord, the concept of What If never struck me so hard...I got into this bloody show because of that blue and gray box of evil. *wimpers*

Well, I'm in the US and I've ordered things from Amazon UK before with no problems, so I don't see why US Amazon wouldn't ship to you! ;)

I do think the region thing would be a problem, though, as the US version would be region 1 and the UK is region 2 (I think?). The best way to get around this problem is buying a regionless DVD player, which these days are pretty darn cheap compared to what they used to be. If I were you, I'd either look into that, or just deal with your "home made" DVDs until the series is released over there. Good luck!

I think I remember last year when season 1 was coming out on dvd that I thought they were going to be 60 bucks too. I got mine in target for like 39.99 the day they went on sale though. Hopefully everyone can get a discount. The best thing to do is buy it right away, that's when you can get the best deal. Best buy is great too, i think someone said that already, they do have good prices though. good luck to everyone!!

I just pre-ordered from Overstock.com. The price with shipping was $43.81. That's not bad since I paid $40 for Season 1 from Amazon way back when. I figured that way I have it and the price was not too bad. And they say they'll try to get it to you by the release date. Amazon used to do that but they don't anymore. You know what, Amazon prices for dvd's in general has gone way up. They are charging $29.99 for alot their hard to find dvd's. I guess that's because you don't have to pay s/h if it's over $25.

Guys really don't pre-order. I was thinking of it last year for Lost, but decided not to. Guess what? I got it at target for 40 bucks.
