View Full Version : Sunshine, Wedding Plans, and other things that ROCK...
themarvelousmattyd 01-31-2005, 11:24 AM So we've all enjoyed ranting and raving and sighing on Ophelia's B,M,&C thread about mushy oreos and other things that suck... but I thought, wouldn't it be nice to have a place talk about things that are going good too?
What got me started is that after two solid weeks of rain/snow cloudy dreariness, we have now had 3 days of sunshine, and it has me so happy, as I'm a solar powered kinda guy...
Also, on friday my fiance and I started marital counseling, and all day Saturday we drove around do different shops looking at tuxedos, jewelry, and decorations for the wedding, and went furniture shopping to see how much it'll cost to furnish our apartment after we are married, and it just plain old ROCKED.
And I was happy... and I was SO HAPPY, that I just wanted to share with everyone here how good my weekend was...
So if YOU have been having some good stuff in your life, feel free to unload here, cause we'd all like to know.
Awww.. it makes me happy to know that YOU are so happy about your upcoming marriage!!
What a great thread and a great idea mattyd!! ;D
I'm happy that I've worked so much overtime that my check tomorrow is going to be FAT!!!
JON@H 01-31-2005, 11:52 AM well have a fever at the moment but thats ok, nothing like a good sweat *:lol2:
um cementing plans to get to London to see my Godchild, and hopefully if all goes to plan (as they seem to be) to be in LA in September to meet my friend and just happen to attend the greatest movie Premier as well (Sept 05 - watch the sky)
apart from that life is pretty damn good all round. *;)
themarvelousmattyd 01-31-2005, 02:10 PM jme... so is this going to be the last overtime check? now that you are going salary and all...
JON@H, that's cool about going to see your Godchild in London... of all the places I've been, I've not been to Western Europe yet.
LearnToFly 01-31-2005, 02:55 PM Something that rocks- When you go to the vending machine to buy doughnuts, you see the doughnuts start to get stuck. That makes you start to freak out, until suddenly, two packets of doughnuts pop out. So two for the price of one.
dramapunk 01-31-2005, 03:15 PM Its a sunny day the rain is gone, I am not sick anymore, the paper went out on time all be it the printer hasnt called me back yet, my class was cancelled today and I am feeling wonderful :D
Cheshyre 01-31-2005, 05:17 PM I'm currently about twenty minutes away from having my sweet potato bread come out of the oven. Once it does, my happiness stock will shoot through the roof. ;D
themarvelousmattyd 01-31-2005, 06:36 PM Cheshyre, lol... I'm as much of a bread and pasta guy as they come (yes, I'm part italian), but I don't think I've ever had sweet potato bread... but I love sweet potatoes, so i'm sure it would raise my happiness stock as well... ;)
Varda 01-31-2005, 06:42 PM Getting on the bus and only having to pay one dollar, then getting to where you have to get on another bus to find that there is a train so the early bus is still there and you dont have to wait in the cold, then getting to your corner and finding out Officer Burg (the crossing guard for the elementary schools) is a Lost fan so you get to talk to her about it, and also using your extra dollar to get a Take 5 (yummy) and spliting a big Laffy Taffy with a friend.... thats fun...
JON@H, your icon is amazing. That is a wonderful thing.
Wonderful Things That Have Happened to Me Today:
1) I got DSL.
2) I don't have massive amounts of homework.
3) I got the TV Guide with Dom on the cover, but I wanted Josh. Turns out, my friend (who is a bit of a Dom fangirl) got Sawyer. We traded. It made me happy.
4) My grandmother stopped by, and gave me her People magazine and her TV Guide with Evangeline on it.
5) I cleaned my room--that makes me feel wonderous.
6) I love the French language. It's a truly amazing class as well.
7) I have a 4.0 GPA.
Lovely thread. I'm glad people are experiencing positive stuff.
Cheshyre 02-01-2005, 01:06 AM Cheshyre, lol... I'm as much of a bread and pasta guy as they come (yes, I'm part italian), but I don't think I've ever had sweet potato bread... but I love sweet potatoes, so i'm sure it would raise my happiness stock as well... ;)
I definitely suggest you try it. If you need a recipe for it, just lemme know. It's good for the happiness. ;)
4) My grandmother stopped by, and gave me her People magazine and her TV Guide with Evangeline on it.
My Grandpa does that for me with Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter stuff. Nothing makes a person smile quite like a grandparent indulging an obsession, I think. :)
TRoss 02-01-2005, 02:39 AM Also, on friday my fiance and I started marital counseling, and all day Saturday we drove around do different shops looking at tuxedos, jewelry, and decorations for the wedding, and went furniture shopping to see how much it'll cost to furnish our apartment after we are married, and it just plain old ROCKED.
And I was happy... and I was SO HAPPY, that I just wanted to share with everyone here how good my weekend was...
So if YOU have been having some good stuff in your life, feel free to unload here, cause we'd all like to know.
I wasn't feeling that happy till I read that! It made me all warm and fuzzy inside thinking about someone else be that happy! So let me try again.
Hmm. . .just went back to work today and I was dreading it, but it was . . . . .fun! I like this thread!
themarvelousmattyd 02-01-2005, 10:23 AM 1) I got DSL.
6) I love the French language. It's a truly amazing class as well.
Getting DSL does rock... can you believe that you can't get it where I live??* two miles down the road they can, but right where I live some small phone company has a strangle hold on everything so we can't get it* :(* but I can always come to work and enjoy my T1...* WOOHOO...
I need to brush up on my french... i've always found it to have a certain je ne sais quoi... lol, it's flows so nicely it's like wiping your rear-end with silk (as one man once said), haha
I definitely suggest you try it. If you need a recipe for it, just lemme know. It's good for the happiness. ;)
My Grandpa does that for me with Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter stuff. Nothing makes a person smile quite like a grandparent indulging an obsession, I think. :)
I would most definitely like your recipe if you would be so kind as to type it out for me...* I use to work as a fine dining chef and LOVE to cook, so yeah, I'll unblock my email addy so you can send it to me..
Also, my g-rents do great stuff for me all the time STILL, even though they are getting really old, and I am kinda past the 'kiddy' stuff, they still find ways of saving neat articles and stuff for me, and they tape lost for me EVERY week, because I mentor highschoolers on Wednesday nights...* my g-rents ROCK, haha...
*Oh and everyone else's stuff is good too...** TRoss 'just keep swimming, just keep swimming' (finding nemo) and I'm sure you come across more positive stuff...* ;D
jme...* so is this going to be the last overtime check?* now that you are going salary and all...
Oh no... LOTS more overtime for me. Just the two people below me on the corporate ladder are going salary!! Tomorrow, I might even get a raise and a bonus!! *crosses fingers* ;)
themarvelousmattyd 02-01-2005, 10:31 AM Oh no... LOTS more overtime for me. Just the two people below me on the corporate ladder are going salary!! Tomorrow, I might even get a raise and a bonus!! *crosses fingers* ;)
WooHoo...* I'm salary, thought they calculate my salary through an hourly rate... anyway, I got pulled into a room a couple weeks back and they told me they were giving me a raise, a big one... in fact a whole whopping SIXTY CENTS...* I almost gagged cause I couldn't believe that anyone in corporate cube-dwelling america would consider a 60 cent raise a BIG raise... but hey I guess every little bit helps... at least it helps to offset my taxes a little...
oh yeah and good luck on that raise/bonus, jme...
Heck ya!! 60 cents from the suits is great!!
Varda 02-07-2005, 08:14 PM knowing you should be doing your math homework during study but coming on the 'lage instead and having some lovely chats. then knowing you should be doing it during lunch but not, and then getting to math, ready to make up an excuse, when you discover- you hd no math homework, you did it all in class thursday
