I was just wondering whether 'The Tempest' had any influence on the idea for the series, as there are kinda similarities - in that theyre all stranded on an island - and each of the characters have lost something - i.e. Prospero lost his power, Caliban lost his island, Ariel lost his freedom, Ferdinand lost his father.... etc.* Also the people of the island have control over the island - and many wild theories suggest maybe the characters in LOst also effect the island in the same way, or the mysterious island monster is a manifest of theyre own states of mind.

Just noticed this whilst i was zoned out in my english lecture.* Am i on a crazy loop?* Most possibly yes, anyway, gotta go the voices in my head are calling...

Damon and JJ weere influenced by a lot of things, consciously and subconsciously, when they created the show. THE TEMPEST is certainly one of those things. As is THE STAND, FORBIDDEN PLANET, CASTAWAY, BLAIR WITCH, and SHOWGIRLS.

I'm just kidding, of course. There's no BLAIR WITCH influence.
