Well during the last 10 minutes before the magnetic pull went off....my husband and I said to each other.....

"I bet the Others are going to kill Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Sawyer. But right when they go to shoot, the magnetic field is going to pull the guns right out of their hands!!"

Man that would have been sooo awesome!!!! Heck, it pulled a freakin plane out of the sky!!

At first I thought the object falling from the sky was a satellite. WOW. Nope, nevermind, just a hatch cover.

I still think there are endless possibilities as to the ramifacations of the button not being pushed. Very little time elapsed between Desmond turning the key and the end of the episode, so hold on; a plane may be falling, or a satelitte, or whatever else the writers may think up before season 3 starts.
