Did anyone else see the Hanso Foundation ad during Boston Legal for www.retrieversoftruth.com? Still exploring it...........is that Vincent?

I saw the ad and went to the site. I signed up for the newsletter and received the following e-mail:

You're about to enter...First let's start this by saying, "thank you." There's a word into which dreams can come true. This email is your gateway to that word and more that will open your mind and your consciousness. Imagine a field - a field of yellow... yellow labs running free, playful, and enjoying each other's company. But in their hearts they are not complete. They miss an integral part of their being and the thing that makes their existence complete. That one thing is the "word"for which we all search - mankind and labkind. But first a story. I was checking into a hotel and a dapper porter escorts me to my room. As we're going up the elevator in total silence I decide to ask him his name. He replies, "Mandrake Wig" and immediately starts to explain the odd name, his German ancestry, and his mother's preoccupation with botany. He ends the story by saying, "my friends just call me Manny."We continue talking about our lives, hopes, and dreams as I'm getting settled in my room. When he's done I offer a generous tip but he refuses saying, "Let me give you a tip, a single word that will enrich your life, as it has mine." I accept. The next day I go to the front desk to leave a tip for Manny. They tellme no such person works there. I question everyone with no luck. I think about what he told me and write down his name so I don't forget it. As I write I see something in the letters. I rearrange a few and create the words, "waking dream."The word he gave me that day was - YOU.Yours truly, Dr. Vincent "Wally" Bole

I'm guessing "waking dream" is a password for something on the Hanso website.

"The things that aren't said can be more important than those that are."
-- Dr. Vincent "Wally" Bolé, to the members of Hanso Foundation, 9/21/05

This is the last "comment" on the left side of homepage.

That pic has got to have something else to it. If not, Bole is one funny looking dude

On Canine Clairvoyance page, looks like Hanso building.

On last date of timeline, says he started site due to overwhelming newsletter requests. "Have you signed up?" is in bold. As I can tell, that's what we are supposed to do.

Did anyone notice that Wally Bole is an anagram of Yellow Lab?

golf_fan

Quince, did look up (ping) on ip. Doesn't match Marl's list of "hanso" ip's (64.207.133.244).

However, sublymonal.com (ran by Sprite of course) has ip 129.33.95.179

Now, since Sprite has been the only "public" site (in that they have agreed to link in-game activity to their new ad site) in LE, this makes sense. Letyoucompassguideyou.com, djdan.am (not a real dj), and of course all the hanso sites have no relevance in the "real" world, so are run from the same server.

Since Sprite has been the only "real" world site to be considered in-game, can we consider this as a "real" world site? That would mean Wally Bole really is a yellow lab guy and this stuff is real life. Very well could be. Could be that TPTB put a second server online for in-game sites and traffic.

Anyhow, until further investigation of the "reality" of ROT or the discovery by Marl or yourself or anyone else of a second server for hanso material, I consider this suspect.

Can anyone post a video of the Hanso commercial that contained this site? Until I see more, this looks fan-made. That being said, when the time comes, I wil be trying "waking dream" and YOU as passwords. ;)

Edit: hansocareers.com is not on the list of ip's (Marl's list). The ip is 63.121.29.1

Leads one to believe that a second server IS online.

Make sure to try yellow lab as a password also. Since the YOU being referenced is Wally Bole, AKA Yellow Lab

No, it's just one of Monster.com's servers, since they're the sponsor of that site. It actually resolves to two IPs for load balancing purposes: http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/lookup.ch?name=hansocareers.com

Either of those IPs are registered under Monster.com's ASN: http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.ch?ip=63.121.29.1 (so, they "own" the IPs).

It's basically like sublymonal.com.

Also, what the **** is up with this site? Telepathic dogs? I mean, at least the stuff on the Hanso site is plausible...

I have looked at WHOIS records, IP addresses, and the email headers sent from the site, and cannot conclude whether or not it is legitimate. If it is a hoax, the perpetrator took the measure of registering the site with the name "Verizon Communications, Inc." which I think could be fraud depending on what they do with email information submitted to the newsletter.

I remain cautiously optimistic that this is legitimate. Can others confirm seeing the commercial with the web address during Boston Legal? or cite other confirmed references to this new website? (www.retrieversoftruth.com (http://www.retrieversoftruth.com))

Now I'm gonna freak out every time I see a yellow lab. :eek2:

I wouldn't think it's a hoax since ABC ran it and Carlton Cuse narrated it and he's one of the Lost writers as well as the person who does all the voiceovers for the Hanso commercials.
I sent my email but I haven't received a reply yet. :frown:

Then entering something bogus like "porter" in the email box takes you to a site that looks like a threaded board for Verizon employees. The title is "MAN'S BEST FRIEND IS THE TRUTH" and the URL remains http://www.retrieversoftruth.com/default.aspx

I think this accomplished by info. stored in a cookie about what you have visited on the site.

BS? No, that just makes it more legit. Each separate side from THF has had it's own sponsor, so this makes perfect sense.

"We've discovered that our beloved company, Verizon, is being used by the Hanso Foundation to further their plans for global domination"

Wow, Verizon's got some balls to get involved with a marketing campaign like that...

I already posted this at insidetheexperience, but I'd love to see what the sleuths here at the 'fuse can do with this, if anything...

In this thread (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/archive/index.php/t-49055.html) mention was made of a hidden pic behind Alvar Hanso's pic on THF.org's television ad page. The pic in question is this one: http://img129.imageshack.us/my.php?image=newhanso0yt.jpg

Does this bear more than a slight resemblance to Vincent "Wally" Bole, or am I just a nutter? The nose, eyes, brow, and chin appear to be very similar, but the mouth appears REALLY different. I'm not sure if this is a legitimate lead, but those eyes and glasses immediately sparked such a strong connection that I had to see if it lead anywhere. Leave no stone unturned in this experience, right?

First post on the boards, by the way... I'm a believer in keeping my head down and not getting in the way of the good work of others here. That being said, I hope I'm not throwing an unintentional red herring out with this.

How much have you learned thus far about the Hanso foundation that applies to Lost from the Lost experience? I'm not sure, but I bet you could name all the Corporate sponsors thus far.

Just a suggestion : discussion about the marketing aspects of "The Experience" is fine, but how about starting a separate thread for that rather than sprinkling it about threads that are posted for the purpose of discussing the game contents/clues? Not disrespecting anyone's opinions, just would like to keep the game discussion from getting side tracked by the meta-game discussion ... In fact, I'll start it for you and be back to link it here.

There is a comparison of this: http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Image:Iswallyalvar.jpg

I'm not sure, but the nose and eyes seem to match up.

In any case, that Wally pic freaks me out and looks like it was chewed up, spit out, thrown back together, and shined up in Photoshop.

just wanted to pop in to say that on the ROT page reached by typing 'porter' in the newsletter box is hilarious! did you read it? aside from the typos (which makes me wonder about it's authenticity, but then i've found them on the Hanso site as well) it's pretty funny. there is also a direct link to the Hanso site from the "i have a very bad feeling about this" thread. wonder if there's a connection between this and the Hanso site countdown clock in Genomic Research???? seems the timing would make it so......?

eta: now that i've gone to the linked site mentioned above, i cannot return to the original ROT site without deleting the cookie....

If you look at the timeline for the Yellow Retrievers in 1899 a black retriever gave birth to a yellow retriever

(not unknown - one of my inlaws black labrador retrievers mother is a yellow labrador retriever - actualy also the mother of the Andrex Puppys mentioned on the site)

anyway- it says that the dog was going to be destroyed by the Porter family (both the password and the name of Walt's step dad - Brian Porter) but was saved by the child of a kindly servant named Lloyd .... mmn would that be any relation to Walt Lloyd :)

Don't know if this really adds anything, but . . .

If you mouse over the two red circles in the mutant cell and a tiny red circle at the top (in the middle) of the normal cell on the IGA page at THF.org, the words "Retrievers," "of," and "Truth" pop up (respectively) in the X-Ray below.
