View Full Version : Arzt the Other
EdMuse 06-20-2006, 01:42 PM And now...with tongue firmly planted in cheek...allow me to present...
:surprise:THE "ARZT WAS ONE OF THE OTHERS" THREAD:surprise:
1. Where was this Dr. Arzt in the weeks of show-time between the pilot and Exodus, Part 1? Why did he just seem to appear out of nowhere? Dr. Arzt moves like the wind-- maybe he's a ninja!
2. Some people have hypothesized that the Others wear certain colors. Arzt sure was into his earth tones, wasn't he?
3. Knowledge of survival (did you see that neck band?), the weather (the wind blows north, and it rains!), navigation (Antarctica is south!), and explosives (lotta good that did him).
So here's what I think... there has been hypothesizing that the Others, as a group are comprised of two types: paramilitary and researchers. Arzt was a researcher. The others wanted access to the Swan station, leading Kelvin to call them "hostiles." When they found that Locke had dug up the hatch, Arzt was assigned to help them retrieve the dynamite to blow it open. Why him? Because he was annoying them. They wanted to get rid of him for a while. Now I'm not saying they wanted him to get blown up or anything, they just didn't want him around. So they sent him off to infiltrate the Losties. Hey, it was a win-win situation-- they get rid of him, and he gets to feel good about himself for doing something useful and adventurous.
So, in season 3, I wouln't be at all surprised to hear Fenry mention Arzt. And that would absolutely change everything!
Oh, wait, no it wouldn't.
Wait, I just realized: Hurley mentioned that Arzt's name was on the manifest. I suppose the others could have had a copy and assigned him an assumed name of one of the dead passengers, or maybe...
Ah, forget it .
jpbila 06-21-2006, 12:07 AM Great catch, sure thing that the "innocent science teacher" is one of the Others, but i am sure that do not change much thing, except that will increase the paranoia from each Lostie.
Finn Buzzing 06-21-2006, 12:34 PM Thats if he is really dead!!!! if you remember, in the Wizard of Oz, the witch disappears by an explosion where she is standing, Henry Gale is a character name from the WoOz, too many connection to Oz it just can't be coincidence, I reckon they find a yellow brick road in season 3.
EdMuse 06-21-2006, 02:19 PM Maybe Arzt is "Him.":eek2:
We're off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Arzt...
jpbila 06-21-2006, 03:54 PM One more reference to Wizard of Oz, and i gonna be scared of Lost... That film give me the creeps... :o
my t dux 06-21-2006, 04:10 PM In one episode Arnzt is seen waiting in line to go through security in the Airport. If he boarded in Australia he couldn't be one of the Others
Narrim 06-22-2006, 01:28 AM Yeah, I was going to say the airport scene in, I think, Hurley's Exodus flashback, plus the manifest, but it still would have been awesome if you were right.
IStoleCindy 06-22-2006, 07:00 AM Here's some irrefutable evidence:
I googled 'Evil Leslie' and got 6,360,000 hits.
I googled 'Leslie Other' and got 54,300,000 hits.
Therefore Arzt is 10% evil and 90% other.
Also, 'Leslie Arzt' is an anagram of 'LIES ARE TLZ' (TLZ stands for 'Told Like Zeke'). This confirms not only that Arzt lies, but also that he's connected with the Others.
QED.
P.S. re: The scene in Exodus where he's at the airport, he was sent to crash the plane. He used his super Other-strength to tear it to pieces. What we didn't see is when he dealt with the man taking the laptop out of the bag, laying the smack down firmly on him. We will see this in season 27, when Arzt finally gets his flashback episode after being reborn in station 19: The Llama. When he exploded, he was actually passing on the sickness to everyone.
Finn Buzzing 06-22-2006, 05:06 PM Well thats all the proof I need! lol:biggrin:
Also, regarding Artz's appearance in the airport, let's not forget he can appear and disappear at will in a Wicked Witch of the West stylee!

That is some of the funniest stuff I've seen in awhile.
I love absurdist comedy.

You have some very good ideas about Arzt! :D Don't forget it!! ;)
EdMuse 06-24-2006, 03:50 PM I love absurdist comedy.
Y'know, I never would have guessed that about you. I mean given your avatar and all.;)
Fuselogic 06-26-2006, 08:57 AM Well, Dinosaur Comics is great, and so is Shoop, so adding the two together is just an explosion of awesome.
It's a weakness of mine. I always laugh hysterically when confronted with non-sequitur.
Heeeeeey....
WAIT! I'VE GOT IT!
Desmond not pressing the button didn't bring the plane down! IT WAS ARZT!
Yes! He was hired by DHARMA to infiltrate the flight, and as they were flying over the island, Arzt broke into the cockpit, knocked out the pilot, and screwed up the plane!
Now I know what you're thinking: BUT FUSE! THE COCKPIT DOOR WAS SHUT!
You think he'd be stupid enough to leave it open?! He closed it before leaving!
YES! AND HE WAS TOLD TO DO IT BY VINCENT!
It's like Son Of Sam, who was told to kill those people by his friend's dog!
Vincent is Him!
*changes profile*
IStoleCindy 06-27-2006, 08:44 AM Of course! The laptop that the guy at the airport was taking out of his bag was basically a super-hi-tech remote-access Execute machine. The Swan's computer has nothing to do with it! Arzt leapt across the seats shouting "dab s'nottub .nottub eht hsup t'noD", laid the smack down firmly on that fellow, and stopped him pressing the button. This led to the universe turning inside-out, with Ottawa turning transparent and forming the outer dome of the snow-globe.
Fuselogic 06-27-2006, 08:48 AM THAT'S IT!
AND IT WOULD EXPLAIN WHY EVERYONE WHO LIES ABOUT THEIR IDENTITY SAYS THEY'RE CANADIAN!
First Kate said she was Canadian, then Ethan, and I'm pretty sure Goodwin said HE was Canadian...THE PIECES ARE ALL FALLING INTO PLACE!
IStoleCindy 06-27-2006, 10:25 AM THAT'S IT!
AND IT WOULD EXPLAIN WHY EVERYONE WHO LIES ABOUT THEIR IDENTITY SAYS THEY'RE CANADIAN!

I think it was Nathan, not Goodwin. And he told the truth about his identity, I believe. UNLESS HE WAS ARZT'S ACCOMPLICE!!! Could one man (albeit a ridiculously strong one) really crash the plane all on his own? I think not. And we all know Ana-Lucia is incapable of being in the wrong.
Plus, the return of the irrefutable evidence... *drum roll*
'NATHAN CANADIAN' is an anagram of 'HAN AND A CANTINA' and, as any good Star Wars fan knows, Mos Eisley Cantina is a shady place where many dodgy criminal-types (including Sawyer Mk1: Han Solo) like to hang out and trade their stolen television and the like.
Therefore Nathan is evil.
Finn Buzzing 06-27-2006, 11:42 AM Then why did Goodwin kill him? I believe you of course, after that damning evidence of the anagram as well as Ana Lucia never being wrong!
Maybe Goodwin didnt kill Nathan, maybe Nathan is a cyborg and Goodwin merely turned him off by unscrewing his neck (thats what it looked like to me!) and put him in his pocket for later, which would indicate that Goodwin in Arzt's real sidekick. I wonder who else is a cyborg on the island, Vincent could be one of those i-dogs!!!!
I think it's about time this post got moved to the 'credible theories' section! :D
EdMuse 06-27-2006, 12:07 PM No, no, Arzt didn't do anything to the pilot. I'm quite certain your mistaken about that. All the evidence, including podcasts from TPTB, point to the absolutely irrefutable fact that Arzt had the BHM (Big Honkin' Magnet) in his carry-on bag all the time. He spent 109 minutes berating Hurley for causing the plane to use too much fuel, forgot himself and failed to enter the numbers in his Blackberry. The BHM in the overhead compartment went nuts and tore the plane to shreds.
Actually, the numbers his date and time of birth: April 8th, 1516 at 11:42 (in 24 hour time 23:42. It is irrefutable, then, that Arzt has discovered the secret of eternal life. I mean, just look at the numbers! You can't argue with that! So, obviously, he's not dead because he can't die. All the little bits of him will turn into globs of mercury and congeal back into his original form-- Kelsey Grammer!

No! Not... Kelsey Grammer! *cowers in fear*
Did you know that Kelsey Grammer was originally going to play the baddie in Terminator 2, but had to pull out for Bostonian reasons. This proves your theory, creating a hole in reality so all whacked-out theories can be true as long as they are submitted in the next 42 seconds. Starting... now!
Fuselogic 06-30-2006, 02:19 PM Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Ladybug_ocean 07-20-2006, 07:56 PM This thread is hilarious. :D
And where is this monsoon he went on about?? I think he was in on the plan to take Walt and blow up the raft.

Well, obviously. To be fair though, he said Monsoon season was about to start, but he never said WHERE it was going to start. Could've been talking about Vietnam or something.
Sarah-luvs-Dom 07-22-2006, 07:53 PM dude anyone with a name like leslie has to be an other. and if he was a high school science teacher the kids would have eatn him alive, he would be rocking back and forth in a corner mumbling pop quiz....pop quiz....pop quiz...

... Which is what drove him to Other-like insanity to begin with. But I really think we should be spoiler-fonting all this. Don't want to ruin series 12 for everybody!
lockeisthekey 07-26-2006, 01:28 PM wow, this is an amazing break through in LOST theories!!! You've thought of
everything....
BUT when do the flying monkeys arrive? Will they carry Aaron away?
Will they be led by a suddenly winged Vincent?

Nonononono.... not pop quiz....pop quiz....pop quiz... he'd be mumbling.... the NUMBERS!!! So... now... who do we know who kept mumbling the numbers in an insane way??? RIGHT!! Lenny!!! Lenny... Leslie... that's almost the same name, right? And remember how much time Lenny/Leslie spent with Hurley on the island? I think there was this bonding between the 2 of them... like they knew each other before...
So that's proof: Leslie Arzt IS Lenny... and they are an Other...
:eek2:
IStoleCindy 07-31-2006, 12:15 PM Sometimes it does seems like all they need is a yellow brick road...:)
Who needs a Yellow Brick Road when you've got Henry Gale's hot air balloon?

You too can have a little bit of Arzt on you!It looks more to me like the material the Others used for the hood they covered Kate with when she followed Jack et al to meet Zeke/Tom.

Hey, my first ever mod-edit! Not bad in over 650 posts. Sorry 'bout that, it didn't even occur to me that I was participating in merchandizing. I have no connection to the site or its owners. In fact, I don't even recall what site it was. Still, I shall endeavour to be more careful about this in the future. I just thought the shirt was funny. It's got a little red splotch on it, with an arrow pointing to it from the word "ARZT" in big letters.
