I'm not sure how accurate that comment was. If I recall he may even have been talking about girls who smoke, not himself. He may not smoke anymore but he used to, in the LOTR days. When he did it in the various movie roles in which you've seen him (An Insomniac's Nightmare, Shooting Livien, etc.) he was an expert smoker.

Was he still smoking at the beginning of Lost? I know they had that cut scene between him and Sawyer where he bums a cigarette off of him. Was that just part of the script or does he still smoke? In some interview I believe he said something that made me think he had quit but I don't remember exactly what it was or if it really referred to smoking.

No the O/P is referring to another interview. I saw it on one of the Dom fansites and it said that he hates girls who smoke. I think it was one of those likes/dislikes throwaway pieces. I haven't seen any recent pictures of him smoking but I can easily believe he still does.

I don't think movies made him do it :) . It's usually that peer pressure be cool thing. I wonder if he started in New Zealand or in Manchester. Elijah smokes like a freaking chimney. When he laughs it sounds like he's losing a lung.

What is really bad (its all really bad) but it seems worse when singers do it. Bono needs all the lung power he can get and its really affecting the quality of his voice..and he started as an adult. He would find himself fidgeting when he went out in public and couldn't deal with the people staring at him so he started smoking as a way to deal with it. Dumb move...now his voice is all raspy.

And I HOPE Dom gives it up soon...maybe...ahem..certain people who have influence in his life will...ahem..encourage him to do so.

yeah i've seen it and almost everyone in my family except me and my 11 year old brother smoke so i know wha tit looks like. so he either smoke quite odd or jsut pretends. no idea.

It's hardly like he has to smoke!

He has a choice, if he really feels against it he can say he doesn't wish to participate in a movie where he must smoke.
It's hardly like he'll struggle to get work after Lost, come on its Dom!;)
