View Full Version : New interchange between Eko/Psychic?

Hi all! My first time posting in the Fuselage, glad to be here

I was playing around with the 'Connections' game in disc 7 of the season 2 DVDs, and I found a scene that I don't remember seeing before. When you go from Eko to the psychic, it shows a scene with the psychic saying he was paid $16,000 by a couple in LA to scare a girl (Claire, obviously) into boarding a plane to L.A.

I went back and re-watched the '?' episode...the only one in which I remember Eko and the psychic having any interaction. The above bit of dialogue does not appear in that episode. Is this a previously unreleased scene, or did it appear somewhere else?

This has some major consequences if he's telling the truth. It means the psychic presumably was not "in on it", i.e. he did not know that the plane was going to crash and he was not deliberately setting up Claire to end up on the island. Rather, someone probably knew of Claire's visit to that psychic and decided to use him in order to set her up. Thats my interpretation. Any comments?

Pete

Welcome numbercruncher.:wavey: Congrats on your first post!
That sounds really interesting. I am so sorry that I don't have an answer for you. But if it's on the dvd then it must mean something, right? TPTB wouldn't just throw something on there for no reason.

I noticed it, too. It must've been cut out of the Eko/Psychic conversation due to time constraints. It really explains a lot and probably should've been left in.

Well, it wasn't a deleted scene, and although I'd love to consider it a part of the show... I can't consider it.

Hmmm...good point, sjb. But I'm thinking that if it was a deleted scene then we could count it out, as maybe they decided that they didn't want the story to go that way. But having it in the connections section of the dvd really makes me wonder what direction TPTB want us to go with our theories and thoughts.
Maybe they just wanted to see what we would write about it on the boards. We're their guinea pigs.

Or maybe whoever created found it, and TPTB didn't actually want it on the DVD at all. They couldn't have seen EVERY one of the connections.

Sure they could have. Why wouldn't they?

True... but making sure everything's correct is their job as producers, too. Shooting that scene alone cost time and money so they couldn't do it without reason.

Gregg Nations' job is to keep continuity correct. We could ask him how to consider that scene, but I take it as canon.

I think they cut it out because they needed to cut something out for time reasons. Doing so really didn't affect anything in that episode other than conspiracy theories. History has shown TPTB enjoy watching people go nuts with those.

They might put it on the show at a later date.

That's interesting. I don't think this explanation has come up before, has it? People were pretty confused when the psychic claimed to be a fraud in that one episode. I was theorizing that he was a fraud but had happened to have a psychic vision with Claire.

Of course if it was deleted it could be nothing at all. Kind of like Bernard being a programmer.
