Ah, Valentine's Day. That one day of the year dedicated to showing love through the buying of expensive chocolate, flowers, jewelry, and teddy bears. That time of the year when everything turns pink, like an explosion at the Pepto plant. That lovely time of the year when the pity of those who suffer from the "single" disease goes up twenty notches.

The only good thing about this holiday is the half-priced candy the day after and the incredibly cheesy cheap foil valentines that I send to all of my friends.

I just cannot get into this holiday. Even when I'm with someone, I cannot get into it. I'm just not the traditional romantic type.

If there was pink beer, I could probably get into it a little more. *;D

Another Valentines, another year on my own (27 and counting). This year is sort of tougher than normal, though, because I have "what ifs" in my head. I was talking to a guy I met online late last year, and he seemed like a really nice guy, but he had a few things about him that put me ill at ease, so I didn't ever go out with him. Lately, I've been wondering if that was the right thing to do or if I should have given him a chance and met him in person. You ever find yourself at the point where you want to meet people, but you're kind of afraid to at the same time because you don't want to be hurt? That's kind of where I am. :P

I have detention on Valentine's day. If you're late just once at my school you get a detention, even if you bring in the orange card they use to keep the cattl--I mean students--in line.

My V-day is being spent for a few hours at school, for many hours here on 'lage (probably), and I'll keep with tradition and watch a horror movie or two. I'm thinking maybe both versions of House on Haunted Hill.

Kristie...I've been doing the horror movie thing on V-Day since I was a sophomore in high school. Heh. I got the Vincent Price version of House on Haunted Hill from a friend and the remake from my dad the same Christmas. I considered that a sign. ;D Especially since I love Vincent Price.

long story short, the couple that own the bar, well the husband got fired from his job, so now he's gonna be working the afternoons, which leaves me w/ my monday nite. they didn't even ask, they didn't even tell me, they told my mom (she works there too, and she got her hours cut too, not as bad as mine though) and the week before, they took my saturday afternoons away from me and gave it to some guy they hardly even know. this whole thing sucks because they were pretty much like family. the whole story is a lot more complicated, and it just sucks...

at least i can still bartend for the Fuselage!! *drinks for everybody*

Ahh...Valentine's Day.

There was only one Valentine's Day in my life where I actually was dating someone.

In the morning, he gave me a necklace and a stuffed teddy bear. Then we went out and ate at a nice restaurant.

Sounds lovely, doesn't it.....except for the part where he talked about video games all day.

So now I'm single on V-Day, and I quite enjoy it. :)

I can understand where you're coming from - I want to meet people as well, but apart from being shy I'm more afraid that they're going to turn to be weird in some way, and I'm afraid that they're going to be disppointed in me somehow. Just give it some time though - don't rush into anything but be open as well. :)

I'm also shy, kind of a homebody, and I go to college and work full-time (plus overtime every week), so I don't have a lot of time for a social life to meet people, but I've started going to weekly hoolies (Irish music parties) in town. I definitely don't want to rush into anything, and I think the main reason I feel bad about that guy is my mom. She's mentioned a couple of times that I should have given him a chance, that maybe he would have been less awkward/strange in person. Ah, well, it's in the past. :) Learn and move on, lol.
