I'm a little surprised this connection hasn't been made since last week. I searched, but no one seems to have discussed this.

The connection continues between Apollo and the naming of the hatches - Swan, Pearl, Arrow, Cadaecus, Flame and Hydra.

Legend states that the Hydra protected Crater the Cup, the chalice tossed to the heavens by ....................Apollo. Also note, the Others village appears to sit in an ancient crater.

If indeed the central hatch is not the Pearl (still a matter of some controversy), we may find an Apollo theme at the center hatch.

There were several theories about this way back when the Apollo bars first came about, I'll see if I can find you a link. Heres one (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=37775&highlight=apollo) and here's another (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=22383&highlight=apollo)

What centre hatch?

The big ? in the centre of the map was The Pearl.

I type that everyday, and it never becomes any less true.

The Apollo theme seems to still be on track. Not sure exactly what that could mean.

It certainly seems to be on track with the Atlantis theory and may even help tie in four-toes.

Some interesting info on Apollo (including a symbol):

*shrug*

I never connected the dots...Interestingly, Apollo had a twin sister which was the goddess of the moon...that would play off the light vs. dark theme we occasionally see...

I listed the Pearl as a controversy because there are those who have disagreed with your assessment. You may yet be proven correct, but not because you type it everyday. Please calm down.

On the map that Radzinksi made which Kelvin took over, it has the Pearl written off to the side near another hatch. What do you make of that then?

I was, and am, calm...

Those who disagree that The Pearl and the ? in the middle of the map are one and the same are wrong.

I know it's true, if I didn't I would type "The ? is The Pearl IMO"

That's where I think they found the notebooks and where they got the name The Pearl, they probably figured out someone was watching them but they never found the station itself.

If they had there would be no ? on the map.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydra_(constellation):

"The constellation Hydra resembles a twisting snake and features as such in some Greek myths. In Greek mythology, a crow serves Apollo/ It is sent to fetch water, but it rests lazily on the journey, and after finally obtaining the water in a cup, takes back a water snake as well, as an excuse. According to the myth, Apollo saw through the fraud, and angrily cast the crow, cup, and snake, into the sky. The origin of this story is likely to be the juxtaposition of this constellation with those of Crater, and Corvus, in the area of the sky known as the Sea.
The Hydra was also considered to be the Lernaean Hydra(as defeated by Heracles[ for one of his Twelve Labours by the Greeks. Its position in the sky (below the [ecliptic together with the constellation Cancer (which lies near its head) may be the origin of parts of the myth."

So, I wonder if Apollo, or the Island PTB, got angry with the Others and cast them off - particularly since they live in...a crater!
