Hey, is anybody else doing NaNoWriMo (http://www.nanowrimo.org/index.php?) this year? It's an international challenge to write 50,000 words of a novel in November. Lots of fun if you like to write (and don't mind turning off your inner editor).

I was going to but decided with Lost still on in November, I'd rather work on my novel in December and January. Give me something to do over the hiatus. There are several fusies here that have signed up, though, and I know some others who are doing it as well. Jellyfrog and elfdream are doing it.

I'm going to try it for the first time. I'm hoping it will motivate me :)

Me me me!!! This will be my third time and I'm more excited than ever. NaNoWriMo is like a month long holiday (complete with tons of chocolate). I look forward to it all year and I'm sad when it's over.

I know you can write any time of the year, but somehow NaNoWriMo makes it so much more fun. Maybe it has to do with knowing that 60,000 people all over the world are doing it too... That and the chocolate...

I'm in. I did it last year and it was fun.

I'm doing a ghost story this year.

It will help me get through the break. :D

Sounds like fun. I love ghost stories.

Mine is apparently urban fantasy. I didn't even know what that was before now... I've learned something already...

I'm trying it this year. I still have to decide what to write. (I really wish we could use something already started. I write all the time and I have a couple really good things I'm working on now.)

You should check it out! :thumbup1: There's a good overview of what it's all about here (http://www.nanowrimo.org/modules/cjaycontent/index.php?id=2).

Well, you probably could if you wanted, because really, who exactly is going to enforce the rules? ;) But I think the best argument for starting a new story from scratch is that then you're free to screw it up. If you continue something that you've already started, you're invested in the story and you're going to want to make it good. NaNoWriMo is much easier and more fun if you're not burdened with expectations of quality.

Just a few more hours until NaNoWriMo!!!!!!!!!!!

Now the question is whether to get a good night's sleep and begin tomorrow or start writing tonight at midnight. :happy_bounce:

I would start at midnigh except the computer is in our bedroom and the typing would keep hubbie awake! :D I am walking on thin ice when I stay up late on Wednesday nights posting about that night's episode!

I'll be working on it tomorrow morning. This is going to really help me get through the first part of the LOST 'break'.

As I said in the other post, I can't believe it's already here! :)

I've been trying to reach the goal for three years now, but November's always such a busy month for me. I still keep trying, though!

Yeah, the site seems to be pretty much dead. :undecide: I guess the servers are just no match for the unbridled enthusiasm of Day 1.
