WAY better than the premier. I'm glad I didn't give it up last week, which I was tempted to do. This one had so much tension, excitement, CHARACTERS, development... last week seemed creepy for the sake of being creepy, but this made sense. And next week looks great.

A surprisingly enjoyable episode, usually don't like Sun and Jin episodes but this one as I said surprised me. Flashbacks were decent, stuff on the island was great. I think Sawyer has put to rest any doubt of his "fightin" skills, loved that whole scene. Sayid's "I'll take two hostage and kill the rest" gave me chills. And for some reason the ending absolutely cracked me up, Jack's reaction to the Red Sox winning the series was hilarious.

Liked it more than the premiere. We finally learned something concrete? Benjamin Linus.
DDK and Yunjin were great.
Didn't they say the girl was supposed to be Sun's daughter?!
Jin and Sawyer both know how to kick butt.
Why didn't Sayid consider that the Others would come from the water?!!

I loved this ep. The ending was absolutely amazing. I wonder what they will make Jack do. And Sawyer is definitely getting my vote for most improved character. He was so darn cool in this ep. I think he might just find a way out of there, he sure handled the majority of the Others quite well. And I can't forget Sun...I didn't think she had it in her.

I definitely loved how Sawyer showed that he is still a "confidence man" and worked the crew watching them. However, I did wonder why Kate, the refugee, didn't immediately spring to action at the opportunity and I do hope that neither one of them are stupid enough to believe they're not being watched while in their cells. Anyway, I started clapping when Sawyer stood up to them. I told my roommate I would have had to take a few jolts...okay a lot...before I did what they told wanted.

And you're going to have a hard time making sympathetic to Juliet or any Other.

This was a terrific episode. It really had a season 1 feel to it .. was this one written by Drew Goddard? He is brilliant.

On the Sun/Jin flashback ... now that is how to get our attention! Very gripping.

I'm thrilled to see Sayid back in action.

I'm thrilled to see Sawyer show his intelligence again, and I loved the Sawyer and Kate interaction.

Still loving Benry, and hoping to see more of Juliet as I am a big fan of Elizabeth Mitchell.

Very, very pleased with this episode! Great work, PTB!

Way Way better than the premiere!

Jack and Benry's interaction was great...and Sawyer is just perfect, the look he gave to Kate before kissing her, the music!!!

"You taste like strawberries" made my day!

Really great episode!!

I see what the writers are talking about "adding some action" to the episodes!! LOVED IT!!
WRITERS!!! Please keep up the good work - so far; so GOOD! Writing has actually been pleasantly mature!

Thanks for realizing that Sawyer has to have "half a brain" to come up with some of the "Cons" he has planned!!! Exceelent writing for him so far!!

Loved it. Sun and Jin are not my favorites, but I think this episode was awesome anyway. I DEFINITELY look forward to next week - John Locke, Desmond, Eko. Bring it on. By the way, loved the tough guy Sawyer in this episode. Now, what was Ben's last name?.......

I was a major critic of episode one. This was an astonishingly good episode that worked on every level. A compelling flashback with a clear arc. Fascinating island-board action that gave us plenty of good information. I've been troubled by the lack of information, but here was plenty -- Benry has been on the island his whole life, and is voluntarily staying on the island for some reason.

Did anyone catch that it appears that Juliet at one point "trained" Ben? His comment that you never made soup for me suggests that Ben was once in Jack's very position.

The last five minutes was utterly inspired, fascinating, and also extremely funny television.

Did we really need the premiere, which gave us little or no information that we did not receive here (other than the wonderful first five minutes)?

I still fear for the ratings and the ultimate future of the show based on last week's problems. But this was a major step in the right direction. Bravo to all concerned.

About all I can say is.....HOLY CRAP!!! It was SO GREAT!! I loved this ep.

The Jin/Sun flashback had me going, "D'oh!!!"

The Sawyer/Kate stuff had me tingling and excited.

And the last five minutes with Jack and Ben had my jaw on the FLOOR!!!

Now that's what I'm talking about!! I loved this episode. I was sitting on the edge of my seat during the boat scene! Great suspense! I was so proud of Sun :) I loved the "we are not their enemies, but if you shoot me. we will be!" I hope some real action becomes of that. Sayid's torture side started to come out... loved that! Kate and Sawyer were so sweet again! I'm bummed they were listening in on that conversation about taking them on. That would have been really cool to see one of them kick butt again. But Sawyer's rebelion was amazing and it was nice to see someone break free, even if it was only a few seconds. Jack's reaction to the Red Socks game was classic!

The only thing I didn't like was still not getting to see the people on the beach and what happened in the hatch. That actually really annoys me... but there's still four more episodes before the break.... I'll remain optimistic.

Like other posters, I was worried about not liking this episode because it was a Sun\Jin flashback episode. I really like Sun and Jin, as well as the actors that portray them, but my appreciation for their flashbacks have run hot and cold.

I really liked this episode--both the island and flashback action. There was so much to like that I don't want to expound on it. The ending was quite interesting as far as the amount of information (or misinformation) given. Benjamin Linus gave us a whole lotta things to think on.

Poor Sayid--that guy just never seems to win against the others. They outsmart him every time.

Anyway, I just thought it was a rich hour (42 minutes) of television. Again, too many positives to list. Job well done.

This is now one of my favorite episodes. Best scene EVER: Jack and the Red Sox. Bringing Lost and the Sox together is pure bliss for me. And it was just a spectacularly well-done scene. It blew me away.

The FBs were really good. I was not looking forward to a Sun/Jin episode, because they can be boring, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The affair, Jae's punishment and questionable murder or suicide, Mr. Paik... it was really good and interesting. And I liked the Glass Ballerina theme.

I liked that Sun was shown to be strong and be involved in the action. I loved that she shot Colleen. I did not love that she cheated.

I love Benry and Juliet. I hate Colleen, but hopefully she'll die from her wound. And Skate was awesome!!! The kiss. The strawberry shortcake. Oh man, it was just perfect.

Excellent episode! The script was tight, every scene was signficant, and the whole was chock full of satisfying character and plot reveals.

Loved the Kwons' story. Showing us evidence of Sun's capacity for ruthlessness present even as a child was a nice touch. It tied together well with things we already knew, e.g. how successfully she had carried off her plan to learn English without Jin knowing about it, as well as new things we learned in this episode, e.g. her willingness to kill Colleen if it became necessary. Interesting contrast shown with Jin's unwillingness to cross that line with Jae.

Sun's potential for ruthlessness resonated, for me, in Sawyer's assessment of Juliet as being able to pull the trigger with no problem as well. She's been moved from my "intriguing and possibly not as evil as Ben" category into the "dangerous and not-to-be-trusted-at-all-costs" category. However, she continues to fascinate and I think she's a superb addition to the cast.

Ben is a blast to watch...menacing, intimidating, yet somehow oddly naive in some ways. His puzzled reaction to Jack's outburst of laughter over the notion of the Red Sox winning the Series was nothing short of perfect. If he has, indeed, lived all his life on the island, then it's quite likely that he would lack the social context for that. I might also add that hanging Henry's credibility on the World Series reveal was brilliant because of the previoius references to the Red Sox in Jack's story. That felt like trademark Drew Goddard continuity to me (meaning no offence to any other writer, of course) and always a satisfying element in character development.

Sawyer was also a brilliantly written (and as always, superbly acted) in this episode. From his non-verbal exchange with Juliet, to his decisive emptying of the canteen, to the kiss and the fight that followed, it couldn't have been better... unless they had managed to escape, of course. ;)

The Kate/Sawyer dynamic is wonderful. He's so obviously smitten with Kate, was so clearly moved by her exhaustion, that he had to create a diversion and found the best way he could to use the outcome to his advantage. Loved seeing him kick some of the Others' butts. Enjoyed seeing Kate finally "get it" and come round to liking him the better for the fact that his brain was engaged and he'd been checking out the strength of the enemy. The flirty scene in in the cages later was the icing on the cake.

I could go on an on, but to tell the truth, I'd have to say something positive about every scene in this episode! '

Well done!

I was expecting a pedestrian Jin and Sun episode- not the most fascinating characters to me, but the flashbacks were excellent. I was drawn in (even if I'm not all that fascinated by the love triangle storyline). It was very well done, kudos.

The last part of the show with the Red Sox was excellent. Great reaction by Jack. I'm betting you cash money he'll leave the island.

I loooooooved this episode. I know it was a Jin/Sun flashback episode and that part was interesting. Looks like Sun is not the docile, goody-goody person she originally looked like in season 1 is she?

But far better than the Jin/Sun stuff was every scene with Sawyer and Kate in it. There was humor, drama, action and romance. And Evi and Josh, as always, did a fantastic job. It doesn't hurt that they just naturally ooze chemistry, but they don't get cloying and they seem so RIGHT together. And I gotta say that Josh has some great comedic timing and delivery with the "How dare you?" line and the "Gimme something else to stare at." (Evi was pretty good with the "Stop staring at my a**." line too) and "Shot?!? We don't even get a warning?" Great great stuff!

Whatever Lost is paying these two, it's not enough. They are the heart of the show, IMO, and the main reason I watch.

***Mod edited ro remove link***

Too long to reprint here, but it begins...SAWYER AND KATE CUT TO THE CHASE, AND BEN CUTS TO THE VIDEOTAPE

"The Glass Ballerina" knocked "A Tale of Two Cities" out of the water, and tossed Sun and Jin into it.

An episode that was all about lies, it also made us privy to a few deep, dark secrets -- namely that Sun slept with Jae, the lean Korean suitor who had once deemed her unsuitable; that Jae had some -- possibly questionable -- relationship with Sun's thuggish Dad; and that, when push came to shove, Jin couldn't bring himself to kill Jae, who, when push came to shove, was either pushed or shoved from his hotel window, before crashing down onto Jin's car like, well, the apparently pricey glass figurine of the title.

A thrilling episode that also contained moments of great passion, "The Glass Ballerina" seemed to fulfill at least two promises on the part of the show's creators: It upped the romance quotient; and, without detracting from the show's various mysteries, it gave us an hour that even a newbie could enjoy without stopping every five seconds to ask, "Huh?"

Three cheers for the episode!!! We can stop all of the "time moves differently on the island" mumbo jumbo:biggrin: . I say Red Sox! You say Nomar!;) Though I still wouldn't trust Benjiman Linus as far as I could throw him. We'll find out Walt and Michael just made a gigantic oval shape by the end of this season.

This episode was awesome!!!

This episode told us alot of important stuff.

The whole Jin/Sun/Jae interaction has now been given the logic we all need to understand it, furthermore it set up Mr. Paik as a bad guy for future episodes. He asks Jin, his son in-law, to kill Jae, but when Jin fails to do so, lets someone else do it. Honor must be restored. Sadly for Jin, i dont think he knows anything about Sun's affair, nor the fact Jae was most likely father of her baby... so, future drama ahead.
Sayid was like a cool desert breeze...as always.

Im just curious as to why Ben want the boat.

We also saw Sawyer take his relationship with Kate to the next level.
That kiss propably has alot of female fans drooling now.
Sawyer is also sizing up the opposition, unaware he and Kate are being watched.
He should get a big surprise further down the road, when he tries to confront them.
Best fightsequence yet since Jack and Ethan, from an action junkie's perspective.

Jack and Ben at the end was just amazing. Michael Emerson chilling as ever,
and Foxy has the surprised look nailed down, when Mr. Benjamin Linus shows him the video.

The greatest show on tv just became greater with this episode.

Ok, I have delayed my epi love post for too long. I was too excited to get out there and see what everyone was thinking, which probably says something for the epi. Great episode. Loved it! This was an excellent episode! I was one who liked the premiere, but this was definitely a cut above.

They have never let us see Sun's complexity before, how just like all the other survivors, she is morally gray. The cheating, the lying...and who exactly did push Jae off the balcony clutching those pearls. Yet she clearly adores Jin and would rather die than live without him. Things are not simple in real life.

Plus, it was great to see her being badass and shooting the Other (everyone in my house cheered when she did that)...in contrast to Kate who stood there like a Raggedy Ann doll.

Sawyer and Kate are as hot a couple as I've ever seen, and total fun to watch. It was great to see defiant Sawyer, hound dog Sawyer and finally...Sawyer taking matters into his own hands. I seriously can't get enough of this guy.

The flashback set a theme of deception, but also of passion. We know why Sawyer said Kate tasted like strawberries, but why didn't Kate join in when he started banging heads. She seemed very turned on that he had gotten hold of the gun, and she is clearly falling for him. What woman wouldn't? And there was an intimacy in her learning his name for the first time, and in his telling it to her. But is there something in her recent past that is as unknown as Sun's?

The flourish at the end of showing that Red Sox victory was ... pure genius. Great episode.

I loved the episode. Sun's flashback was very interesting. We got to see how much of a bad girl she was as a kid. And how she was a bad girl as an adult. I knew she was sleeping with Jae! That's why she acted so nervous when she found out she was pregnant last season imo.

Sawyer/Kate scenes were awesome and we saw Alex!! Ben totally creeps me out and I'm wondering what Jack will do!

Great episode.

Hard to top Dez and Duffy's excellent posts, but I'll just add that I was very happy with the flashbacks in the episode. They made sense in relation to the on island action (something I didn't feel with the premiere).

It will be interesting to see if we learn if it was truly a suicide by Jae Lee or was he pushed (and if so by whom?)

I loved the ending of the episode as well. The Red Sox scene was fantastic.

I also thought the interaction with Kate and Sawyer in the cages was great. (I didn't find it high schoolish or Days of our lives like some of the posts in the hate it thread). I really liked the reveal that the whole 'escape' attempt thing was Sawyer getting recon on the guards. It was only made better by seeing that Ben a step ahead.

I thought TGB was as good as the better S1 episodes. The flashbacks took up a lot of time, but they did show us a side of Sun that had only been hinted at in the past. (Wasn't she the one who wondered if they were on the island because of the things they'd done, the lies, they'd told?) I also get the sense that they're drawing the lines for the clash that has to come eventually--Sun is capable of acting with lethal violence, which suggests that someday she might be aligned, not with Jin, but with Sayid and Sawyer against an equally implacable Juliet.

I loved the Kate and Sawyer scenes. They've done a good job of bringing this relationship along, and it's wonderful how well these two know each other. Why didn't Kate jump in when Sawyer started fighting? Did Juliet have a gun on her that fast? Or is Kate, like Jack, already worn down by the struggle? Her "What do we do now?" suggests that she's picking up some of Sawyer's fighting spirit. I'm anxious to see what our own Bonnie and Clyde will get up to next.

Who the heck is Juliet? There seems to be some real gentleness and concern in her treatment of Jack, and she's not on the same page as Benry. Rebellious and ready to break away? But she seems to be a steely-eyed true believer where Sawyer is concerned; she used that taser without hesitation, and her offering of the water jug last night was calculated and not well disguised, either. This character really intrigues me.

Benry's been on the island all his life? Why don't I believe this? But then I almost didn't believe him about the Red Sox either!

Again, just an excellent episode. I hope the rest of the season is this strong.

I loved it--again!

Loved the way all characters were portrayed . . .

Sawyer--especially the "How dare you!" line (just barely catching himself after beginning to join in the leering). And the strawberries line.

Kate--didn't have all that much to do.

Jack--stubbornness. Trying to get clues, go with his hunches.

Juliet--so deep, empathic, menacing and contradictory. How can I love a new character so quickly? Especially when I was one of those who resented time being taken away from our old Season 1 friends.

Ben--One of the best, creepiest characters in TV history. His moment of indecision this week, and his soup snit, only made him more interesting. Who called him "Hannibal Lecter meets Mister Rogers"? Michael Emerson is an amazing actor!

Sun--love her even more now. Love the dark side, love her halting and contradictory quest for independence. Love that she has now crossed a line that Jin hasn't: she's killed a fellow human being. Can she be pregnant and Xena at the same time?

Jin--Sayid WAAAY underestimated him.

Sayid--Worst. Plan. Ever. And he knows it. Now, how will he get his mojo back?

Alex--She's gonna be an interesting character!

Also, there were more important reveals. Red Sox (although that easily could have been faked--Jack might suspect that). Ben on the island all his life. Somehow I think he's telling the truth this time. If so, it lends credence to my theory that people can get to the island, supplies can get dropped and information can flow, but nobody can ever leave. It would explain a lot.

Can't wait for next week. (But they revealed too much in previews, IMO.)

Awesome episode true season one feeling. It had action, romance and answers, like the question of wether or not Sun slept with Jae. Good to see Sayid back in the action, even if his plan didn’t work once again, at least he took action. I liked that more of the Others have been revealed bit by bit and the end with Jack really got to me, even if I am not much of a Jack fan after the second part of the last season, but it had a great intesity. The romance blossoming between Sawyer and Kate is believeable imo, not too much too soon, no cliche but a nice development there. I'd say 9/10 with the pilot being the only 10/10 so far for me.

It was MUCH better than I excepted. I really though that the writers will continue the boringness of season 2 Jin/Sun episodes. They were good, but nothing important happened; '...And Found' was one of the worst episodes Lost ever had, 'The Whole Truth' was better, but still disappointing.

Now, Glass Ballerina was really refreshing, and more similiar to season 1 style Jin/Sun flashbacks.Which is great!

Loved the ep:cool:

I loved this episode. I'm really enjoying the way the show is constantly being recreated. I'm a bit confused as to why so many people are saying they don't usually enjoy Sun/Jin episodes. They are actually my favorites, along with Claire's. I'm excited to see what the writers have in store for the rest of the season. Good work!

"How dare you" was my favourite line!

Sawyer is becoming my fav character. He just shines!

I can't wait to see what they'll do with Locke. 2.

I love all the episodes with Jin and Sun. I think that they have a great dynamic. Also I think that their story lines have one of the better mysteries about them. Everytime they are on , I want to know more about the day to day aspects of what went on. The amount of therioes I am thinking of now because of Jae getting thrown out of the window are being put down on paper.

Sawyer is also one of my favorites as well. And well Kate. Kate is just amazing.

This was a great episode for action , suspense heck pretty much everything that makes an episode great.

I like the Jin/Sun episodes too. There is definitely a lot more to learn about the two of them. Plus the episode was great for letting us learn more about the others.

The action was great too - I was so happy to see Sawyer show some resistance to the others.

I concur with Herk. From the outstanding footage of the ice-like glass ballerina seemingly twirling, but falling, with the fire as a background...to the astounding footage of Jack viewing the Red Sox through the glass wall, with reflection...

It was great, and I loved it. Some very creative writing that can be interpreted so many different ways (as usual), excellent acting, humor, blah blah blah. ;)

I completely agree. Those three are my favorites as well.

I loved, loved this episode. That shot of the glass ballerina twirling and falling blew me away. It was a gorgeous shot and totally hooked me for the rest of the episode. I kind of felt from that shot it was going to be a good episode. And then with Jack and the Red Sox. Just Wow. And my love for Kate went up tenfold for her line telling Sawyer to stop staring at her ***. I love the snark on this show. ;)

I thought both "A Tale of Two Cities" and "The Glass Ballerina" were very well written. I'm extremely new to the series, but in the past couple weeks I've managed to watch the first two seasons and am now seeing season 3 just like everyone else has...a week at a time! And I must admit, it's painful! But I love the series a lot and plan on following it all the way to the end.

I loved it too! :) I thought it was a really good episode...I expecially liked the end with Jack and the Boston Red Sox. Also when Kate and Sawyer kissed!

I have to say my favorite part was the showing of the Red Sox to Jack. That was a jawdropper. Also, seeing the room with all the monitors was an eye opener. No wonder Ben has all the information that he has. He is scoping out the Losties, his own people, and who knows who else.

And I don't mean to sound ugly here, but I was so glad that the Other woman on the boat was all wrong about Sun and got shot. My wife and I both thought "Yeah, didn't see that one coming, did you skank!" We call them names, makes it more fun.

I always look forward to Wednesday!

I loved this episode. Jin/Sun have always had some of the best flashbacks. The Skate scenes were absolutely wonderful. ;)

Great episode, i trully loved it!

This episode was so perfect in every way.

Jin and Sun: I was shocked to learn she cheated on Jin but loved the flashback. And the scene at the end - in the water - was great! I still really hope the baby is Jin's.

Jack: Loved the Red Sox part in the end! It was great! Not that much Jacket. But it was sweet that Juliet made the soup herself . I am happy Juliet is there with Jack, cause these two finally have some chemisty!

Now to Skate - Sawyer staring at Kate's *** - Priceless!! And Kate noticing - LOL
I looooved that part.

And when Pickett said she could work naked. That was hillarious! The look Sawyer gave her! And his reaction to her look! "How do you dare!" Omg, i laughed so hard!

And then to the kiss: Sawyer's look at Kate before he kissed her was the most beautiful thing ever. The way he just walked right over to a exhausted Kate like a man on a missing and just kissed her: me happy!
Kate responded right away. The kiss scene was as perfect as I had hoped it would be! Her finger gracing her face so tenderly... just beautiful!

I'm so glad about the 'not what it seems' - Cause Sawyer conning them seemed to get Kate exited!!

Okay and the cage scene:that was so sweet! I loved it. There two are obviously meant to be!

And what I've been waiting for: she finally found out his real name. She didnt notice Locke using it in season 2, but she finally did now! That was great!

The strawberries and fish biscuit thing! Hillarious and sweet at the same time!

I know I'm late but here goes! I loved this episode. I thought it was about time Jin got in on some action. Jack, Sawyer, Sayid and Locke, although great characters, they aren't the only ones who can pull out a gun and use it. Jin did some very bad business in his life: he's useful! (in a good way of course)

In the scene where Jin asked for a gun and told Sayid and Sun that he knew what they were doing all along and Sayid's surprise reaction when he saw Jin load the gun: I was all grin. I think Jin has been silent for far too long. Plus, he's a really great actor.

Also I liked the dynamic of the group: 2 Koreans and an Iraqi. They aren't usually in the front and centre of the media world today: I'm glad LOST is open-minded. They're opening doors.

Sawyer-Kate-Jack: I'm still rooting for Jack. But I have to say that Sawyer is getting to me...for now...oh but the kiss. I'm so glad Sawyer did what he did to Juliet with the whole water bottle thing. In your face, Juliet.

OH and I'm glad the Other woman got shot too. Yay Sun!

I'm a huge Sun fanboy so I loved this episode as it expanded her character a lot showing that she is tougher than people thought initially when Jin had her under the thumb as it were.

I thought this was an excellent episode!!! Sun & Jin are my favorite couple and this was their best flashback episode so far. Sayid was awesome as usual but he needs more screen time!!!!

Yea I loved this one as well...:)! I love Sun and Jin and it was so neat to see more of their backstory. It is so nice to see where they come from. I also like the scenes between Kate and Sawyer...I like their bickering back and forth. Plus, there was another powerful ending to this one as well!

The scene between Sun & Sayid where she knows he is lying is absolutely amazing. Both Naveen and Yunjin are incredible...their characters are so deep and so true. It reminded me of the character aspects that I love about this show.

Also...if anyone knows...was the glass ballerina supposed to be automated/electric/mechanically spinning or was little Sun spinning it?
