Do you think the other workers were tailes? They know that the tailes taken know nothing of the losties. Plus it does not look like the Others treat each other that bad.

Besides that would be totally boring. There was some tension between Coleen and Juliet though. MerlboroMan 10-11-2006, 10:14 PM doubt it. nope. Ben was born on the island so that wouldnt work out. Besides that would be totally boring. There was some tension between Coleen and Juliet though. I wouldn't dismiss it so quickly. The question is still unanswered is a) why the want kids and b) what did they do with the tailies and c) why did they specifically want Jack, Kate, and Sawyer. alwaysI'mlost 10-11-2006, 10:56 PM they want children to keep the island populated for future generations, spread out the gene pool a bit? If they all just kept interbreeding, it would cause problems eventually. We know they took Alex, and maybe some of the others as well were taken as children. Then again, they let Walt go! Charlie 10-11-2006, 11:03 PM Yes, we know they took Alex but it doesn't seem as if they were exactly eager for her to get into a relationship with Karl. But maybe I'm the only one who thinks he is an Other and is being punished for getting involved with her. Even though that's what I think right now, I'm not convinced. That said, I don't think they only want the children in order to populate the island. Lost In My Mind 10-12-2006, 01:05 AM I think it is possible that the other workers are tailies or captives. They've obviously been there longer and would definitely be conditioned to their disciplinary shocks, so they know not to talk to any newcomers. So they have no way of knowing they all came from the same place (the plane). Good question. Jedierica 10-12-2006, 01:12 AM I recongnized an other as Michael Bowen as one of the workers that was in charge. He is the second person that I have spotted in this show from the movie Magnolia the first one was Bee -April Grace guest in last seasons live together die alone. I find it interesting since the movie Magnolia involved flawed characters and their lives interconnecting and overlapping just like the Losties dvg 10-12-2006, 01:17 AM I recongnized an other as Michael Bowen as one of the workers that was in charge. I find it interesting since the movie Magnolia involved flawed characters and their lives interconnecting and overlapping just like the Losties Except that Magnolia was one of the worst movies I ever made it all the way through (by watching the rest on a second day). I hope they aren't borrowing from that garbage. solarman 10-12-2006, 01:51 AM We are talking about the people also working on the chain gang right? I can totally see them as tailies taken form the camp. diggitydirge 10-12-2006, 12:11 PM I think it was pretty obvious from the fight scene. The workers are part of the "others" group and not prisoner. That is why they had weapons, and were willing to fight Sawyer. A extremely basic military strategy is to divide and conquer. If you place Sawyer & Kate with a large group of other prisoners, they are going to learn/gain knowledge from each others experience and eventually try to revolt. rabidranger 10-12-2006, 12:17 PM My question is what is the endgame for the work Kate, Sawyer, and the other people are doing? It could be a psych exercise, but there was surveying equipment and plans that were being used. Building projects or something else? Does it even matter? bearsgonefishin 10-12-2006, 12:23 PM I think the work was just a way to make them miserable, there didnt seem to be much point of busting up rock and moving it 10 ft and dumping it. maybe its a way to keep them exhausted or some other type of experiment but if they are just slave labor, it really seems like a pointless task. |
