View Full Version : Sawyer and Robert Patrick connection
TRoss 02-12-2005, 03:47 AM As we've read, the writers have mentioned they're thinking about making "mini-adventures" with Robert Patrick and Josh Holloway for Sawyer's flashbacks.
What if Robert Patrick turns out to be the real Sawyer? My thinking is our Sawyer may have met up with Patrick later in his life for a con (at that time Patrick might be going under another name), and the two become friends. Then perhaps Sawyer finds out the truth and chases Patrick to Australia.
Just a long shot, but wouldn't it create conflict if Sawyer had actually befriended the man who ruined his life?!
Any other theories as to their connection?
baffled_kim 02-12-2005, 11:47 AM well they said
that jack and sawyer are connected somehow.
So what I think is that
maybe jack's dad was the real sawyer
just maybe. Only half a week left. YAY
lostinchitown 02-12-2005, 11:32 PM damn TRoss and baffled-kim, i hadnt even thought about that. wow, i havent really been theorizing about anything the future holds.
sbdj2m 02-12-2005, 11:40 PM Robert Patrick's character and Sawyer are roughly the same age I think. Maybe RP is a few years older, but not old enough to be the real Sawyer.
I think they will be more like "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" :lol2:
Vynaca 02-12-2005, 11:58 PM Dude, take Robert Patrick's name OUT OF THE TITLE!!!!!11111 Thanks.
TRoss 02-13-2005, 01:51 AM Dude, take Robert Patrick's name OUT OF THE TITLE!!!!!11111* Thanks.
Is that a little Mulder bitterness I hear?
Vynaca 02-13-2005, 02:02 AM No, it's "I'm sick of reading spoilers in thread titles" bitterness.*
On a personal note, I think Robert Patrick is rad and contrary to fanboy belief, he was awesome in X-Files.* I'm uber-pysched Agent Doggett will be in Lost but it would have been nice to be surprised, ya know?* If I hadn't known about T-1000, the surprise might have almost been as orgasmic as Soul Patch saving Keifer's butt last week.*
Capice?
TRoss 02-13-2005, 02:14 AM Capice.
Sorry 'bout that. I loved him in the X-files, too.
God, I have some interesting info you might like, but I don't know if you want to hear it. It's not about Outlaws specifically, but should I wait until after the show to post it?

I'm putting my hands over my eyes and saying yes. :) Keep it in the spoiler forum please or put it in spoiler font. I'm doing my very best to avoid everything that happens on future episodes of Lost. (Even though sometimes I feel like I need a fix, like Charlie).
The truth is out there. :alien:

I'll put it in the spoiler forum, Vynaca. You can peek now. ;)
Hope to see you here after Outlaws!

*blushes* Gee, thanks!
I had to look up NoRomo - that's a new one to me. Are you an old NoRomo, as in ex, or as in your commitment to the philosophy goes way back? Tell me more!
DiamondLife1985 02-14-2005, 10:54 PM What actor do you think would be a good cast for the real Sawyer?
I think Sam Elliot (Road House, Tombstone) would be great as the salty UNCLE that Sawyer ends up living with after getting bounced around in and out of homes. ;D
TRoss 02-14-2005, 11:00 PM He has to be sexy too if he seduced Sawyer's mom.
Sawyer's mom. Ah, that just put a picture of poor little 8 year old Sawyer in my head . . . there goes my heart melting again! :'(
Butterkup 02-15-2005, 11:32 AM There is just something sexy about Sam Elliott nobody can really figure out what it is but that is a good casting call!

How do you know Sawyers mom isnt some toothless, chubby little woman who doesnt bathe regularly? She might have attacked the dog if he showed interest! LOL
For those who find my message offensive, here is my PC response before you bash me:
Not that theres anything wrong with being toothless, chubby, little or unclean!!
TRoss 02-17-2005, 04:14 AM How do you know Sawyers mom isnt some toothless, chubby little woman who doesnt bathe regularly? She might have attacked the dog if he showed interest! LOL
How do I know? Because he isn't going around partying and singing "ding, dong, the witch is dead".
Well, now I really wonder what's up with Robert Patrick. He might still be the real Sawyer, but the way he spoke about it, I think not. Then again, if he IS a great con man. . . .
Samurai-Luigi 02-17-2005, 04:34 AM I think that if they're going to continue on with Sawyer and "Hibbs", the logical ending is that we learn somehow that he was the real Sawyer... the only dilemma is, how could our Sawyer ever find out about it if he's trapped on Karma Island? A dream? The boar tells him? Locke touches his hand and sees a vision (a la Dead Zone)?
This brings up another interesting question in my mind... how long before Jack's dad died did Sawyer run into him? How much longer was Sawyer in Australia before he got on that plane? We know he was in cuffs a day or maybe two before Boone left... But he could have been in Australia for months before that. Hadn't Jack's dad been there for like two months or something before Jack went to get him?
And, of course, the supreme question... Did Sawyer kill Jack's dad afterall, as payback for "influencing" him to kill the wrong guy? Maybe he went back and had a drinking game with him, didn't he die from alcohol poisoning?
And no, there's nothing wrong with being toothless, chubby, or unclean. But LITTLE people... :P
TRoss 02-17-2005, 04:41 AM I think that if they're going to continue on with Sawyer and "Hibbs", the logical ending is that we learn somehow that he was the real Sawyer... the only dilemma is, how could our Sawyer ever find out about it if he's trapped on Karma Island? A dream? The boar tells him? Locke touches his hand and sees a vision (a la Dead Zone)?
Is the noble Samurai dissing small people?* *;)* You don't want to piss off the Charlie fans.
I think if Robert Patrick IS going to end up being the real Sawyer, it'll be disclosed by way of information from the other castaways, just like we all know Jack's eventually going to find out how his father felt from Sawyer.* Since they're all connected, someone besides Sawyer may be connected with Hibbs.* Kate, perhaps?
Samurai-Luigi 02-17-2005, 04:52 AM Hey- I am a Charlie fan. Plus my girlfriend is a shorty too. ;D
Good call, I almost forgot that this is Lost we're watching, and anything is possible... Perhaps Hibbs was Kate's short-term husband? They were trying to con eachother, both realized it, and went their separate ways? Mebbe Kate and Sawyer have more in common than they think...
How about this for a twist... Vincent used to belong to Hibbs, and we see a scene of him bragging to one of his buddies about how he's conning the guy whose parents he conned... and then it's revealed that Locke is actually Dr. Doolittle, who finds out this information from Vincent and passes it on to Sawyer.
Crap, I forgot to take my meds again. :o
The other dilemma with the real Sawyer being Hibbs is that he can never exact his revenge without getting off the island. Unless Hibbs is the helicopter pilot... :-X
TRoss 02-17-2005, 07:07 PM Hey, Samurai. I've read your posts. You're great without meds. ;)
I'm having my doubts about Hibbs being the real Sawyer now. Maybe he's someone who works for the real Sawyer. I was envisioning a father-son relationship between them, but it seems Sawyer can't stand him. And just what did he mean by "we both know you're not the killing kind"? Hmmm. . . .
Samurai-Luigi 02-17-2005, 07:59 PM Hey, Samurai. I've read your posts. You're great without meds. ;)
Why, thank you. I'll forget to take them more often. ;D

I was thinking that might be some kind of reference to the "Tampa job". Maybe Hibbs put Sawyer in a situation where he would have been forced to kill someone to do the job, and he couldn't do it, thereby blowing the whole deal.
Ooh, new thought.. Since I've been wondering if Kate was a US Marshall once-upon-a-time too (hence a fellow US Marshall travelling outside of the US to catch her- it was a personal vendetta-maybe her love that she killed was his best friend?), then perhaps she was part of the task force trying to stop the "Tampa job"? Obviously she wouldn't have come into contact with Sawyer, but maybe Hibbs bribed her or something? I think it would be cool if Kate had a connection to Hibbs, making a Kevin Bacon-esque connection between her and Sawyer. And by that logic, Jack too. ;D
TRoss 02-17-2005, 08:06 PM What did I tell you?!*
No meds = brilliant!* *;)
Think we'll find out this season?
On a side note, I remember your first post was about Jack being the one to be killed off, wasn't it.* I was hoping it wouldn't be, but I got to thinking, each character's backstory is supposed to have a beginning, middle, and end, and Jack is getting his third episode towards the end of the season (I know, beginning, middle, and end could be spaced over several flashbacks, not just 3).* Now if Sawyer reveals what Jack's father said to him, that might bring just the closure that will wrap up his story line.* Add to that the ominous title of Jack's third installment, "Do No Harm", and I smell forboding.* (Yes, I'm aware that title may only be ominous to me).*
Any revisions on your theory?
TRoss 02-18-2005, 03:02 AM Dang it, I'm trying to sleep and my mind keeps racing around this d*mn topic!
It suddenly occured to me that Frank the Shrimp Guy mentioned owing Hibbs money when Sawyer shot him, but Sawyer NEVER mentioned Hibbs! He only mentioned the name "Sawyer". Did Frank make the connection between the name Sawyer and Hibbs, or did he assume our Sawyer could only be a hit man, sent from American to Australia, to take out a guy who cooks shrimp from a truck and owes a thug some money?
Anyone? Anyone? This is a late night thought, so it may sound stupid in the morning. :P :D
Samurai-Luigi 02-18-2005, 06:54 PM Yea, the more I think about this, the less it makes sense...
I don't think we should assume that Hibbs was "only" using Sawyer to take out this guy. It doesn't make sense. This guy was a total loser, he probably didn't make much money with that silly shrimp truck. Yet he made it sound like he was about to pay Hibbs, or at least we was saving up to do so. So, there are two questions:
1) How much money did Frank owe Hibbs? It must have been sizable for Hibbs to go through all this trouble to take him out.
2) If it was a sizable amount of money he owed Hibbs, then how would he have ever been able to pay him back by running a backwater shrimp truck on the outskirts of Sydney? Didn't look like he had that many customers. I guess he made some pretty good shrimp in that rustbucket.
I figure that Hibbs had an ulterior motive for sending Sawyer to Australia. If he really just wanted Sawyer to kill Frank, then he would have known that Sawyer would come back to LA and hunted him down for conning him into doing his dirty work. Unless he planned to get Sawyer arrested, or just assumed that he was going to get caught with the gun.
If he did want/plan for him to get arrested, why would he do it over a scummy loser like Frank? You'd think he'd have bigger fish to fry. And if Frank did owe him a sizable amount of money, wouldn't Hibbs want whoever he sent to take care of him to get whatever money he had too? Why kill a guy who, for all we know, was about to pay him back? And, why send a guy who you know "ain't the killing type"?
I don't think Hibbs cared about Frank one way or the other. I think he sent Sawyer to Australia specifically because it's illegal to even carry a gun, let alone kill someone. Hibbs wanted Sawyer, and Sawyer specifically, to get arrested. Hibbs wanted him out of the way.
The final question is, why? Is it because Hibbs was the original Sawyer? Or is it just because he knows Sawyer is someone who obviously has something against him, and he wanted to get him out of the way so he could work more freely?
Yea, after Numbers I think we should all be prepared for six weeks of sleepless nights.
