View Full Version : Who was Colleen and when did we first meet her?
The Snowman 10-23-2006, 03:18 PM I have noticed that there are some comments about the lady Sun shot that make it sound like she was in some other episodes. I do not remember her at all.
Can you refresh my memory please. I know that she is gone now but for some reason are we supposed to know who she was? Did I miss an episode last season maybe?
Gameplay 10-23-2006, 08:01 PM I'm not sure but from what I have notice much of the information exposed here is not always from watching a particular episode, but just a lot of observance swapping.

I noticed that too. I thought maybe someone had tribal knowledge of where she was from. I guess she was introduced and killed all in one episode?
Save The Humans 10-23-2006, 11:54 PM I guess she was introduced and killed all in one episode?
Yes. And in her short tenure, we learned three things about her connection to Other characters:
1. She clearly adores/willingly serves Ben.
2. There's no love lost between her and Juliet.
3. She is/was Pickett's significant other.
That ALL of these points were made in the context of one short eppy makes it virtually certain, IMHO, that her connections are going to drive plot in future eppys. #3 is especially promising, I think. I mean, Pickett's not Mr. Kind-and-Gentle in the best of times. Now that he's lost his lady love, it's not gonna improve his disposition. Vengeance, not altruism, would be on his mind, yeah?
Another point made in Colleen's short show tenure: her knowing Sun's full name again underscores that The Others know much, if not all, about our lostaways (something we first learned when Juliet was leafing thru Jack's file in Eppy 1). Her statement that "we're not the enemy you think we are" tells us that The Others clearly don't see themselves as the meanies our lostaways think they are. The Others have a "different perspective" on matters. (As Ben pointed out to Jack in that instant-classic last scene of Eppy 2.)
We didn't see much of Colleen in Eppy 2, the only time we've ever seen her. (Though I don't rule out seeing her in someone's future FB--that would be foolish of me!) But her character was there to establish several major plot points AND to introduce/be a catalyst for future plot points. Anyone who thinks the character of Colleen was just a throwaway guest role is making a MAJOR mistake!
The Snowman 10-24-2006, 01:06 PM Thanks for the info... No love lost here. I relish the scenes where the "others" get bagged and tagged. They have it coming to em and good.
iamlost2 10-24-2006, 05:01 PM While I do not believe that we actually met Colleen before episode 3.03, I do think she have an connection to some of the castaways. I do think Colleen is familar with Sun. Colleen once stated that Sun is not a killer. How would she know that, if she never met Sun before?? I sure that Colleen have an connection to Sun. Could Colleen had been the American women that Jea was once in love with? I wouldn't be surprise if she was. ....and for Colleen saying that Sun is not a killer, could indicate a incident in which Sun was suppose to/trying to kill someone ( Jea , maybe) and couldn't . Maybe , Colleen was at Jea's hotal that night he was killed ( I also think sun was there, and left before colleen arrive)..Maybe, colleen knows Sun is not a killer, because she herself "is" a killer.
Save The Humans 10-24-2006, 07:35 PM Colleen knows about Sun cuz The Others have files on all the lostaways. And Colleen's clearly in the Others' Inner Circle and has access to those files.
Daddy 10-25-2006, 12:16 PM Do we know for sure that Colleen Died? We saw that she was shot, but immediately after she was shot the other "others" came down to investigate and the scene cut to Sun jumping off the boat. Perhaps Colleen isn't dead, but rather wounded and could come back later...
Drake 10-25-2006, 12:30 PM I think her character was meant to be the blonde girl on the boat when they took Walt.
Save The Humans 10-25-2006, 06:34 PM As she was leading the team to SEIZE THE BOAT, that is highly likely. Guess Tom had to sail it away since she was shot, huh?
bakerboys 10-25-2006, 06:46 PM BUT we don't know if Colleen died. We saw her get shot but we did not see her die. Maybe Tom is bringing her back on the boat and Jack will try to save her.
Majandra 10-26-2006, 07:11 AM Well, now we know. ;)
She was alive but died during surgery... makes me wonder how good Jack's skills as a doctor really are. ;)

I noticed that too. Libby, Marshall, Shannons father, Joanna all died too. I guess he doesn't have access to good equipment.

That's true. But did you notice that Jack had less equipment when he tried to save Boone and the Marshell, but he tried a lot harder. He tried to save both Boone and the Marshell, but he didn't seem to try as hard to save Libby, and he didn't even try at all to save Colleen. actually I think Jack might have a little bit of a dark streak, and let Colleen die.

I remember his desperation and stubbornness that actually brought Charlie back... No sign of that with Colleen, was there?
But then again he said to Juliet she was dead before they put her on the table. That might be true too. Jack is not the guy to go against his doctors oath. This is why the others trust him that he'll perform the surgery on whoever needs it...
Carencey 10-29-2006, 07:40 PM interesting idea with the woman on the boat being intended to be Colleen. It definitely wasn't Paula Malcomson, but it was a throwaway blurry shot, much like Desmond's photo that changed after Sonja Walger was cast as Penelope. If we were to ever see the boat scene from the Others' perspective (just speculating!) then I sure wouldn't be surprised to see her included.
JeremyBender 10-30-2006, 11:35 PM I'd love to find out what was behind the Juliet/Colleen animosity in the season premiere. I very much got a vibe from Juliet of "I'm a scientist, dear, you're just a foot soldier, back off".
She looked so peaceful on the table after Jack declared her dead. :frown:
Goodbye, Colleen, you dummy, don't you know the Lostaways ARE killers?

Other than having her die for some Sun character development, it also shows us that the others dont know the losties as well as they think. But I'm sure she will pop up in flashbacks later on, more on Pickett/Colleen.
