Is Sawyer another Jin? How could he be so sure the girl wasn't his? Does he know he's sterile?

No he's not... he took responsibility for his daughter at the end by setting up a bank account for her. He was in denial when he spoke to Cassidy.

He was just saying that to save face and keep up a stern front. He wasn't in denial (and I don't think he's sterile.) I think he believed Cassidy, and that's why he set uip the bank account. If that's NOT the case, I suppose he set up the account to make amends for conning Cassidy. But I think he believes darlin' Clementine is his.

He did teach Cassidy the rules of the con, so she may be playing him. Strange how this storyline matches what happened to Starbuck in BSG this season. I guess we'll learn more in Sawyer's next flashback.

I'm a little Lost.. why would you think he may be sterile? Did I miss something in the episode or ...? (I was posting on the watching live thread so I may have missed a detail or two.)
Obviously he hadn't been with her in a little while, so he probably thought the kid coulda been anyones. I think a lot of guys would question it.

Now remember, Juliett announced that she's a fertility doctor. No idea what the connection could possibly be, but for some reason that seem odd to me.. with Jin and possibly Sawyer being sterile.

Of course, he did set up the bank account, so.... he probably knew she was his.

I don't think he really cared whether the child was his or not. I think he was feeling guilty for conning Cassidy in the "Long Con" and wanted to pay her back the money he took. I also think he thought if she was pregnant she could use the money and if it was his baby then he would be providing for his child.

The sterile/fertility thing seems to be a recurring theme running through LOST.

AND... Remember when Sun was using the Pregnancy Test she asked Kate if she had ever used a Preg. Test andd Kate said "yes".

I guess they have "messed around" with genetics for so long, they are going to try it the "natural" way???
