So, at some point during Season 3, would it be too much to ask if we all got some insight as to what Smokie(s) really is? Maybe an acknowledgment by the Others that this thing exists? Or that they're afraid of it, maybe control it, you know, if not dropping the whole curtain of mystery about it, at least some of the general what/when/how questions answered..? It'd be great if we knew more than if it appears there's a good chance someone might die... like.. say.. gee I dunno, Eko??!?!

I think they gave us a pretty nice clue this week that smokie can transform into people, maybe take their dead bodies? So remeber when Jack saw his father? It was just rumors before but I think they basically confirmed it this week.

This is my big question about smokie....does it REANIMATE and heal dead corpses OR does it MIMIC DEAD LOVED ONES or is it an AMALGAMATION of DEAD SOULS?

This is the concept part of the Smokemonster that I like.

After seeing dead bodies disappear and come back whenever the monster is seen or heard it kind of makes you wonder why the losties burn and let the bodies go out to the sea. I think that was our clue that the losties know of "the monster".

Yeah Dave was just Hurley's imagniation again but Yami and Christian (Jack's Dad) I think were smokie, because in the very first shot of the pilot the smokie is probably scanning Jack.

Also in the pilot, I think it was the pilot, when Charlie, Jack, and Kate were running from the monster after it ate the airplane pilot, Jack was separated from them. He comes back a few minutes later unharmed. Anything could have happened at that time as well.

Another thing that occured to me is what if smokey took the form of a stewardess on the plane? Wasn't one of the tailies a stewardess who suddenly disappeared witout any signs of trouble? Maybe it was Smokey all along? It could have gotten memories/thoughts from everyone on the plane. Also, if you watch the scenes where the plane is breaking up, you can hear the noises that smokey makes in the background.
