Did anyone else notice Ethan's eyes when he was fighting Charlie?* Anyone with TIVO please check but Ethan's eye's were BLUE.* Not just the color of the Iris but the entire eye - the whites of the eye were blue as well. This made me think about him coming from the water and if he was a person at all.* Anyone with TIVO please check... but I pointed it out to my hubby while watching and he noticed it as well.* Sorry if I'm not describing it well but his entire eye was colored blue - very odd.

Hmmm.... I didn't notice.
Then again, I don't have a good eye for these things! (no pun intended) ::)

Someone had posted a short preview before "Homecoming" aired about Ethan's eyes so I was specifically looking for the blue whites. And they were definitely blue! Wonder what it means? Was noticable when Ethan was threatening Charlie and holding him by the throat - not sure if you could see it at any other time or if they were like that. Also, when Charlie and Claire were talking about the peanut butter the whites of their eyes looked like they had a blue tint to me. Anyone else think that?

Now I am not trying to give anybody goose pimples or anything, but I posted a question about* blue eyes in the epsiode thread of Special RE: Boone.* In that episode Boone and Locke both had very blue tinted whites of their eyes.* I thought that perhaps it was just my tv though. This is (hopefully* :-\) a link to that posting.

Perhaps blue tinged eyes are a sign of the islanders that have been infected by the "sickness".

Okay I've got goose bumps - I just posted on a different topic (about clothes colors) that blue was maybe a sign of the sickness. Those blue tinted whites have to mean something!

Wow--I just checked the screencaps at lost-media and you guys are right--Ethan's eyes DO look really blue. You can really tell in this pic:

I tried checking some pics of Boone--didn't notice anything odd about his eyes, at least not in the Homecoming pics. But bearlover, you might be on to something about the eyes being a sign of the "sickness". Very interesting.

In the episode Special - towards the beginning of the show Locke, Boone, and Jack (I think) are talking and the whites of their eyes are blue.* I have not searched for pics of it yet.* Must hunt for them tomorrow.

Well, anyway...a new thought just occurred to me.* You know how some episodes start with a close up of an eye?* What if we are supposed to be paying attention to the eyes?* I've always assumed it meant that the episode was going to focus on that character, but what if it means more than that?* Something to think about at least.*

I just wached it again and the whites of Ethan's eyes are not...white. I'm not ready to say 'blue' but they don't look normal.

This can be caused by iron-deficiency. With the lack of red meat it's possible everyone should have blue sclera. This doesn't add much mystery to the show, but if that is the reason at least it is accurate.

But if it's 'blue sclera' why not in all the scenes? And I really doubt that the CGI group would be called in for something so... technical, medically speaking. And they have been eating LOTs of pork until the last few weeks. Does pork not contain much iron since it's 'the other white meat'?

Not sure about the pork question, but the actors could wear contacts to tinge their eyes blue. Heck, at Mardi Gras I saw someone with cat eyes. They can do anything with contacts.

I see what you guys are talking about, but I really do think you're overanalyzing this one. LOL. Lighting, equipment, time of day... anything could cause this. I really don't think it's intentional. I could be wrong, but even this seems a little too much for them to go into.

I leafed through the article about LOST in that cinematography magazine and I think they mentioned that they 'don't wait for the clouds' whatever that means. I assumed it meant they didn't wait for the clouds to pass over so they could have the best light. They just use whatever light is there ...ah..there is a site somewhere online that has that article posted.. I'm thinking LOST MULTIMEDIA but I'm not sure.

OMG I just realized something. If anyone here has ever been to the ABC boards, I remember there was a large topic a while back. Everybody was doing their own research for it, and a lot of them found out some stuff about some culture believing in the "Evil Eye". I don't remember it very well, but I think they thought the evil eye was blue and the would wear blue turquoise to ward it off.
Something like that at least. I don't want to go back to the ABC boards and check. That place has become insane. ;)

I found something related to that here:

http://www.discovery.com/area/skinnyon/skinnyon970425/skinny1.html

I read about it and it's interesting the newborns are often kept away form people during their first 40 days of life, because they can be easily affected by the "Evil Eye". ::)

I don't if this fits with all you've been talking about, but it is curious the way different pieces can go together in this gigatic puzzle that is LOST.

wow, that is somewhat strange. in othe rboards i have seen speculation that there are both good and evil sides, (ex. the black and white rocks) and that ethan seems to have on two different colored shirts when there is no possible way he could change them that quickly. are ther 2 ethans? perhaps the one with the "evil eye" is the evil one, and the other is just an innocent man stuck on the island as well.

even if there is no white in his eyes, they are still beautiful ::)

thank god people noticed this as well!! I noticed the changing of Ethans eyes too as he choked Charlie, but did you notice that when he said "ill kill you last" his eyes are COMPLETELY black? Maybe this was another reason for Charlie's reaction after he said it, and then I SWEAR to goodness, after it shows Ethan completely gone, Charlie's breathing kinda soothes and looks down with this angry face, just before it cuts to commerical, i swear THERE his eyes change colors, from light blue to a darker brown, im so dead serious! I will watch it again and make sure! But i remember bringing this up before
