Hmm... that's what the whispers were saying.

It'll come back around...

Posted this in the live thread too..

I think the "whispers/voices" are the person's worst memories being brought out of them.

The Others can read minds? Or does the Island just amplify all your pain/anguish/regrets?

Only the one whisper said that.

Actually I thought I heard it twice, once while he was under the bed and once near the boar

Sawyer hears the whispers twice in the jungle.

I heard it at least twice. I might say three times, but I'll just say twice.

It will come back around I think has to do with everyone...Everyones actions will come back around, almost as if being on the island is payback for everyone's mistakes prior.

Maybe. But good idea... even though I think it had to do soley with Sawyer.

I think everyone hears only one clear whisper that has to do with him.

My thoughts exactly. Except, I think that (sometimes at least) people are able to understand more than one whisper.

That remark was the closest thing to an epiphany I have seen Hockeyplyr!

A lot the flashbacks we've seen so far have to do with mistakes or wrong choices made by the survivors and the Islands Karmic retribution.
Claire tried to give up her baby - now forced to keep it.
Sawyer the hunter, now the hunted.
Charlie the addict - stranded on an island
Sun wants a divorce - forced to remain by her husbands side.

Kind of like Fantasy Island...only more like Karma Island. Locke doesn't fit though. He was forbidden to make the choice he wanted and is being rewarded. Maybe as time passes, more will fit into his category. Or maybe he is meant to be the only wise one.

I think if we step back and take a look at the big picture, hockeyplyr has captured the essential theme of Lost.

I've been thinking something along the same lines. *Each character have inner demons or fears that the island forces them to deal with. *Sawyer for instance blamed all his problems on the guy who conned his parents, in turn a boar aggravates him to the point he blames all his problems" on the boar, as Kate put it, and wants "sweet revenge". *By the end of the episode he realizes the connection with his inner demon (blaming all his problems on Sawyer) and decides not to get revenge because he learns that revenge isn't always sweet. *Maybe he can burn that letter now?Boone was tormented by loving someone taht didnt love him back, the island (with the help of Locke's mushroom pudding) forces him to see her die and he comes to realize he's much better off mentally just letting go. * Charlie has to battle his addiction and learn to live without it and realizes he has the strength to not be a "useless junkie". *Michael doesnt want to lose his *son again so he's overprotective in turn not letting him grow (learning how to protect himself) and is faced with a situation where he almost loses him violently and learns that he doesnt have to treat Walt like a little kid all the time (throws down the knife to Walt to protect himself after he was so against it) he'll always be his dad etc. *Alot of the characters don't come to their epiphany in one episode. *Sawyer was still disturbed after his first episode, Kate obviously still has a lot to deal with, Jack I dont think is totally over blaming himself for his dad's death. *What's also interesting is Locke is always there to guide them to their enlightenment. *Charlie with the 3 chances to get his drugs back and the Moth speech, Sawyer with the dog-sister speech as someone else on this board amusingly put it, Jack with chasing the white rabbit, helping save Walt and cooperating with Michael (who earlier threatened his life), and obviously the most aggressive form of therapy with Boone.

I think you're right on the money there, fldhockeyplyr22.

When I first heard the whispers, it seemed to me like they were implying, "don't worry, Sawyer, your chance to avenge you parents will come back around".

But when Frank said, "It'll come back around", I though, oh, this is a kharmic circle. I just hope it doesn't end with Sawyer getting shot.

Sawyer is so dead.

lol... Well it depends on the meaning of "it'll come back around". But it sure does seem that way :(.

I like your avatar, Matt- is that SUPPOSED to look like Eternal Sunshine?

I sure hope not! Here's hoping that it comes back around many many seasons from now.

I think the fact that he is stuck on island and can not get his revenge holds more meaning thenit being his death.

I do think that it will come back around for Sawyer at some point. People have been speculating that Sawyer will eventually die saving someone else. I think that this has a high probability because of the emotions swirling around Sawyer finally becoming a good person. Again, I just hope that this happens many, many seasons from now (and that he's got his baby (Kate) by his side when it happens).

That was interesting,, DC_Camel. It seemed a little new-agey for me at first, but overall I like the idea that something can't or won't come back around until you let it go. Thanks for bringing it to us. ;)
