View Full Version : Best Episode of the Fall Mini-Series?
bumpygrimes 11-11-2006, 11:35 PM I would rank them like this:
1. The Cost of Living
2. I Do
3. Further Instructions
4. Every Man for Himself
5. A Tale of Two Cities
6. The Glass Ballerina
MegletTX 11-11-2006, 11:41 PM That's almost exactly how I'd rate them except I'd flip flop the top two. :)
briar910 11-11-2006, 11:49 PM Hmmm...I thought the first two were the strongest. Here is my rating:
A Tale of Two Cities
The Glass Ballerina
I Do
Every Man for Himself
The Cost of Living
Further Instructions
flashbackfan 11-12-2006, 03:53 AM I'll be the first to say I liked Further Instructions best, mostly due to the fact that I loved the Boone vision. And it finally felt like it was Lost again.
Here's my order:
1) Further Instructions
2) The Cost of Living
3) A Tale of Two Cities
4) I do
5) Glass Ballerina
6) Every Man For Himself

Petragrrl 11-12-2006, 12:12 PM I liked the opener the best... seeing Otherville was just bizarre!
My ranking is thus:
1. Tale of Two Cities
2. I Do (because of Jack)
3. The Glass Ballerina
4. Further Instructions, Every Man for Himself, The Cost of Living (which I equally liked/disliked )
bryce110 11-12-2006, 07:41 PM A Tale of Two Cities, above and beyond the rest.
riverbasil 11-13-2006, 06:24 PM 1. Further Instructions
2. A Tale Of Two Cities
3. I Do
4. The Cost Of Living
5. Every Man For Himself
6. The Glass Ballerina
but IMO they are all good as they equally have their good moments and bits that you might not have liked... in the Glass Ballerina for instance I really liked the Boat scene and Jin in the flashback
Captain_Falafel 11-14-2006, 06:48 PM 'Further Instructions' was my favourite. It felt like the old Lost. Spooky visions and running from polar bears. Loved Desmond predicting Lockes speech!

2. A Tale of Two Cities

I really enjoyed every episode except Further Instructions. I liked the on-island scenes of that one, but couldn't get into the flashbacks. Overall, fantastic mini-season, and, of course, I can't wait for February.

The order of the last two is interchangable. The finale really dissappointed me.
IamSoLOSTrightnow 11-15-2006, 07:31 PM 1. The Glass Ballerina- I don't know why a lot of people keep haten' on The Glass Ballerina. This is my favorite episode this season. The drama was so intense and it was beautifully shot. To this day me and my friends still say "The maid did it."
2. I Do- I love the development of Jack's Character. The ending (or lack thereof) was intense, and I love Kate and the Marshel together.
3. The Cost Of Living- Eko Flashback- 'nough said
4. A Tale of Two Cities- The Opening was amazing, The rest in was just ok.
5. Further Instructions- I loved having Locke the hunter back and seeing Boone again. But the flashback didn't reveal anything new about his character.
6. Everyman for Himself- Every Sawyer Episode is a con in the making.
Clerks 11-16-2006, 05:38 PM It's funny how different people feel towards the episodes. Every order was completely different. My order would go like this...
1) I Do - Actually an absolute favorite of mine. There were 4 scenes in this episode I fell in complete love with. I loved when Jack said, "I just wanted you to understand how you were going to die", "I need to get the hell off this island," "KATE, DAMMIT, RUN!", and I loved when Pickett pulled Sawyer out of the cage to kill him. Fantastic episode, although I really wish they did something with the flashback, meh.
2) A Tale of Two Cities - The opening left me in shock. Really, in shock. The best opening they've ever had on LOST. The rest of the episode was good, I really liked seeing each of their situations and what they are up against, although nothing crazy really happened that would make it a classic.
3) Every Man For Himself - The only episode I was constantly entertained with. I really liked Josh Holloway in this episode and I really liked Pickett's "Do you love him?" sequence. I liked the pacemaker con, and the ending with JKS not on the same island was a great end to an episode. I didn't like however that the flashback was, once again, a con of his. I think we need to see more of him than that.
4) The Cost of Living - The episode as a whole wasn't fantastic, or really even that great, but the last 5 minutes makes up for everything. Fantastic end to a character, the wrap-up of the flashbacks were great, and Locke's "We're next" line was terrific.
5) The Glass Ballerina - At the time I liked it more than A Tale of Two Cities, but Im trying to be fair to the premiere episode now. I really liked when Sawyer took Kate and kissed her, and the music during that scene was very memorable. I also loved the end, they finally brought back the trumpet-sounding end that they had so much of in season 1. "I will take you home"- ahh!
6) Further Instructions - I loved the Boone hallucination, but that's really it. Polar bears? Eh, Eko could have done better than that. Weed? I didn't believe it. Nikki and Paulo's entrance? Ouch. It sucks that my favorite character is always the centric character in all of my favorite episodes, and I really just didn't like this one.
pippilina 11-18-2006, 04:45 PM Further Instructions -- Locke's vision, Boon the spirit guide, learning more of Locke's fascinating backstory and his being betrayed once again-- and the ascending the escalator scene.. the escalator scene was the most beautiful moment in the entire three seasons. Great soundtrack for the hallucination too-- especially how it crescendos at the end.
Hurleydude4815 11-18-2006, 04:48 PM My order-
1. The Glass Ballerina
2. The Cost of Living
3. A Tale of Two Cities
4. Every Man For Himself
5. Further Instructions
6. I Do
I liked all of them except for "I Do".... that was a disappointment.
SeaKing100 11-19-2006, 02:38 PM There were some really great things in each episode. I think the opening scene in Lostville suburbia was surprising and cool. The Downtown song playing, the book club, flight 815 crashing overhead - the first five minutes kind of reminded me of when we were first introduced to Desmond and the hatch.
bluebear 11-20-2006, 04:37 PM 1.A Tale of Two Cities - the oppening was just perfect
2.I Do - i really liked the last scene (Sawyers sacrifice and Jacks comeback)
3.Every Man for Himself - the second island left me speachless
4.Further instructions - the vision was really interesting
5.The glass ballerina - interesting aspects of Sun (didnt expect it)
6.The Cost of living - Didn't like the way they killed off Ecko
bo_is_lost 11-20-2006, 04:49 PM 1. Futher Instructions - Locke's Back!
2. I Do - wild twists
3. Every Man For Himself - Great Storytelling
4. Tale of Two Cities
5. Cost of Living
6. Glass Ballerina, mostly because Sayid's off character moments
hollisterbumx3 11-20-2006, 05:05 PM 1) Every Man For Himself - Love Saywer, loved the pacemaker story
2) A Tale of Two Cities - shocking...creepy.
3) I Do - Last ten minutes were excellent, left the miniseries off with a good ending
4)The Glass Ballerina - the last few minutes were GREAT
5) The Cost of Living
6) Further Instructions
adam8023 11-21-2006, 12:04 PM I Do Great episode!
jasoncountdown 11-23-2006, 12:39 AM 1) A Tale of Two Cities

3) The Cost of Living

ATOTC is the only one that I felt was great in both Island action and flashbacks. The rest are pretty inconsistent and have tons of skippable filler.

jennanne 11-25-2006, 09:01 PM For whatever reason, it seems like the episodes fell into 3 categories for me so far this season, and in each case I flip flop on which of the 2 I like better upon each rewatching:
Good
1. The Glass Ballerina
2. The Cost of Living
OK
3. A Tale of Two Cities
4. I Do
Blah
5. Further Instructions
6. Every Man for Himself
carfreak2128 11-25-2006, 09:18 PM Every Man For Himself no question. Superbly acted, great plot, emotionally packed, awesome eppy.
lulinha_k 11-30-2006, 10:31 AM 1. A Tale of Two Cities
2. I Do
3. Further Instructions
4. The Glass Ballerina
5. Every Man for Himself
6. The Cost of Living
Retinend 11-30-2006, 12:29 PM 1. Further Instructions - great Locke episode, some freaky imagery and a half interesting flashback for once
4. Every Man for Himself - best flashback of this mini-season, great acting, fantastic story
5. A Tale of Two Cities - the best part was the fist 10 minutes, pity it wasn't so consistent throughout. Nevertheless very good.
3. I Do - disappointing cliffhanger, but still very good.
2. The Cost of Living - nah
6. The Glass Ballerina - Sun, Jin? Seriously...
aWishResigned 11-30-2006, 12:41 PM 1 - A Tale of Two Cities (The opening minutes could very well be the best I've seen of the show)
2 - Further Instructions (Sort of felt like a forest-y show with Locke as the host. "This week, we're hunting Polar Bear...")
3 - I Do (Would've rated higher for Nathan Fillion but the story was so overall boring the second or third time around)
4 - Every Man for Himself (Hey, Sawyer went to prison... like we didn't see that one coming. And, look, Ben shook a bunny. Scary.)
5 - The Cost of Living (Why do people have to end their contracts early?)
6 - The Glass Balerina (The problem with doing a show that has taken three years to tell 70-odd days is that, every now and then, there's five or ten minutes of downtime. That's what this episode felt like.)
skategroupie 11-30-2006, 12:57 PM 1. I Do- sawyer and kate duh
2. Every Man for Himself- great sawyer development, and second island? whoa
3. A Tale of Two Cities- some "others" insight
4. The Glass Ballerina- sun is always cool
5. Further Instructions-
6. The Cost of living- Eko rip.
1. Every Man for Himself - & I Do....ex aequo
3.The Glass Ballerina
4.A Tale of Two Cities
5.Further Instructions
6. The Cost of Living - nah
Retinend 12-01-2006, 12:38 PM 1. I Do- sawyer and kate duh
Sorry, I didn't catch your meaning by "duh".
Every Man for Himself - not exactly a great Sawyer fan here (not saying that I don't like him either) since I've never cared too much for his episodes, but I found that it worked perfectly for me this time. The flashback plot may be predictable, but at least it was fresh and satisfying. The on-island events were dynamic, interesting and emotional. The bunny scene, the final scene of the revelation that they're on an adjacent isle, the Kate/Sawyer scenes - i.e. "Every Man for Himself" vs "Live Together, Die Alone", as well as Jack being brought in to operate on Colleen - all seemed to be very relevant and memorable moments here. It just worked out greatly in general.
The Cost of Living - also a very strong episode, Eko's story was finished well, the "You speak to me as if I were your brother" scene still creeps me out, which is something that hadn't happened often on Lost lately, but I wish it would. One the negative side: how the monster killed Eko - it sort of makes sense that Eko is the character from which's viewpoint we finally see how it happens, but him being bashed into trees and the ground wasn't easy to buy. Not that I have doubts that it's a painful death but I think it could've been approached more creatively. Also the whole trek subplot seemed contrived and didn't work for me that well at some points.
I Do - several strong scenes here, but to narrow down to what I really, really liked and what I wasn't so keen of - Jack injuring Ben to save Kate and Sawyer's lives was a move I really liked, mainly because I liked to see the Jack who could sacrifice himself (and possibly Ben ) for others again. Kate's reasons for leaving her husband was the thing I didn't like so much, mainly because they made little sense to me.
The Glass Balerina - liked the mix of the others storylines and resolving Sun, Jin and Sayid's sailboat plot because it seemed that with focusing on only one of them the first episode lost a bit of its charm for me. The flashback story wasn't too exciting for me generally, but explored Sun's nature rather well.
A Tale of Two Cities - loved the opening 5 minutes, and overall I thought it was a rather good episode in all aspects, but as I mentioned, the episode lost a lot by concentrating only on a few of all the characters. It works sometimes and I sort of understand why this was written and shown the way it was, but it just didn't stick with me.
Further Instructions - I can't say I disliked the episode greatly, but if I have to choose a least favourite of the 6, this one's definitely it for 2 main reasons. While I loved the return of polar bears and trekking the island and the return to the beach people, I always thought that the idea of dreams directly showing (or making an obvious implication, if you like) was walking a thin line and it sometimes worked wonderfully (Deus Ex Machina) and sometimes it didn't at all (?) this episode was something in between the 2 for me. The other thing, which I think ruined me this episode the most were the flashbacks, maybe this is one of those stories that will only resolve once we see the next flashback, but I wanted to have at least few immediate answers as well. As it was, the story actually felt like a rather weak variation of how Locke got screwed over again. It's hard to believe he had one of the strongest storylines in season 1.
skategroupie 12-01-2006, 03:30 PM Sorry, I didn't catch your meaning by "duh".
lol. What I meant was that because sawyer and kate finally revealed their true feelings for eachother, it was definiltey a favorite of mine.
popandlocke 12-01-2006, 04:40 PM 1. Every Man for Himself - Well written, well acted, no monumental surprises, but one of the best flashbacks of the series. Demonstrates why Josh Holloway is gonna be a huge friggin star.
2. The Glass Ballerina - I was not looking forward to this episode at all; I thought Jin and Sun were done. I was thoroughly surprised. In some ways, Sun is the most complex character on this show. Jin's character arc has also become one of the most interesting and moving or the series. Who knew that the a-hole from the first episode would become one of the most sympathetic characters. The episode added a new dimension to both characters. Great ending. I was glad that one of the Others finally got what was coming.
3. I Do - It's always good seeing Mal. As with Jin/Sun, I thought that the writers had squeezed all they could from Kate's character. I was wrong.
4. Tale of Two Cities - Was anyone really surprised that the Others lived in civilized comfort? This was something that was hinted at all the way back to the Claire episode in season 2. The beginning was more or less a retread of Man of Science/Man of Faith. Not bad, but not the season opener I wanted.
5. The Cost of Living - I hated that the writers changed Eko's character and altered his path to redemption. Eko was one of my favorite characters and he was not given the proper send-off that he deserved.
6.Further Instructions - I love Locke. He is arguably one of the all time great TV characters. His flashback story was interesting and fit the character well while also explaining how Locke acquired some of his survival skills. The dream sequence was incredible and was vintage Lost. However, the island story seemed like a desperate attempt by the writers to re-manufacture the magic that made Locke's character so great in season 1. It came off as artificial and dishonest. The polar bear subplot was embarrassing.
Get_A_Klugh 12-01-2006, 06:46 PM A virtual tie between "A Tale of Two Cities" and "I Do"....
1.) I Do
2.) A Tale of Two Cities
3.) The Glass Ballerina
4.) Every Man For Himself
5.) The Cost of Living
6.) Further Instructions
Marcus 12-09-2006, 04:26 PM It's hard to rate these, since I enjoyed them all, but here goes:
1. Every Man For Himself --- The pace and suspense throughout were amazing!
2. A Tale of Two Cities --- The first 5 mins, Jack & Juliet, Fox's performance.
3. I Do --- Jack & Ben, Jack's plan, Kate & Sawyer's perilous situation.
4. The Glass Ballerina --- The last 5 mins, Jack & Ben, the opening shot.
5. The Cost of Living --- Great flashback, Yemi's parting words, Locke's "We're next.".
6. Further Instructions --- I actually liked the flashback scenes so much that I didn't like their sudden, abrupt, unresolved ending. I guess we'll see more of Eddie and that "family" in a future Locke episode, but that along with the rather pointless polar bear plot = last place in the mini-season. I loved the airport vision featuring Boone though, and overall this episode was visually stunning.
gallivant 12-17-2006, 11:30 PM 1. Every Man for Himself: I especially liked the twist at the end with the two islands.
2. I Do: A bit over-dramatic at times but worked fine.
3. A Tale of Two Cities: Like many others, I thought the start was great.
4. The Glass Ballerina: Worked fine if not spectacularly.
5. The Cost of Living: Fairly well-balanced, but I found myself irritated by Eko's hallucinations.
6. Further Instructions: Failed to grab me unfortunately. I wasn't intrigued by the polar bear plot.
I've enjoyed this season so far. It's done what it seems to have set out to accomplish which is wrap up the J/K/S love triangle moving those characters onto fresh pastures with a whole new dynamic, whilst allowing us to get to know the Others much more - which is surely essential for the show. Contrary to what seems to be a popular belief, we did not desert the other Losties but have dealt with Eko's departure and had a strong focus on Locke too, positing Sayid as the 'Jack'-like opponent to Locke's arguably hokey, island-worshipping philosophy (surely a crucial binary, now that Jack is off for a while) - not to mention the fact that Sun has shot and killed someone, with all the personal reverberations from that act which are sure to follow on.
My main gripes have been in the quality of some of the writing which has not been as strong as former series. Perhaps we have lacked some of the humour which has balanced out the darker mysteries and tense stand-offs in previous episodes? Sawyer's one-liners have been few and far between, but we can forgive the guy, who has been beaten to pulp from start to finish this series! There is genuine angst and anger amongst the Losties now, which is hardly surprising as events keep taking a further turn for the worse. But occasionally this angst comes off as melodramatic. I've not always been convinced by the acting performances either - most especially in the Others camp amongst the secondary characters, although our Losties have been fine, especially Matthew Fox, and Michael Emerson as Ben is simply sublime as always!
sheba 12-18-2006, 01:13 AM I voted for I Do, after tossing a coin. It was between I Do and Every Man For Himself.
Blondtgr 12-25-2006, 10:00 PM Here's what I think:
1. I Do
2. Every Man For Himself
3. Glass Ballerina
4. Further Instructions
5. A Tale of Two Cities
6. The Cost of Living
Tigerlily1647 12-30-2006, 12:25 AM It's not really the popular choice, but The Glass Ballierna was the only one that really did anything for me in the way Lost used to. I thought Sun shooting Colleen was so exciting. Too bad nothing ever came of it.
lostnthesoutheast 12-30-2006, 12:44 AM 1. I Do--I loved the whole episode, everything about it!
2. Every Man for Himself-- I love Sawyer!
3. Tale of Two Cities--I like the Juliet introduction
4. The Glass Ballerina--good stuff
5. Further Instructions--I liked Locke's vision and flashback, but the polar bear cave rescue was a bit over the top.
6. The Cost of living--I didn't like how they altered Eko's character in order to kill him off. Before this episode, Eko was clearly on the path of redemption.
steveman16 01-01-2007, 05:51 PM 1. I Do- I thought it was everything Lost should be. I was also pleased with the step-up from the lapse in music in the past episodes.
2.Tale of Two Cities- Perfect premiere episode.
3.Glass Ballerina- Sun shooting Colleen and Ben prooving the others have contact to the outside world. Enough said.
4.Cost of Living- It just didn't work for me.Didn't like Eko's death or Nikki
5.Every Man for Himself- It was a great episode, but the end was the best part.
6.Further Instructions- It was a good episode, but didn't like how they only showed what Locke was doing.
Don't get me wrong all these were really good episodes.
Porochaz 01-02-2007, 04:46 PM My list:
1.Further Instruction - The best Locke flashback since Dues Ex Machina, the Old Locke was good, even if the story was a bit far fetched
2.The Cost of Living - Flashback good, story good, I quite liked the introduction of Nikki even if I hate Paulo
3.Everyman For Himself - Good Flashbacks, good Island story but with episodes 1 and 2 this felt like it was going over old ground
4.I Do - Flashbacks were great but not for a finale, island story was bad it feels like were going round in circles
5.Glass Ballerina - Still waiting for a good story... Best Flashback the season so far... however the story was verging on awful, Sayid was way out of character... what have they done to that character.
6.A Tale of Two Cities - I liked this until I saw the rest of the series and realised how weak this was. Best Jackback so far but weak compared to the other great flashbacks so far, it focused on 3 of the most boring on-island characters and could of benifited in having even a charlie and claire scene going "what happened?"
I sort of averaged out everyones score so far to look at everyones favourite and through a not very accurate way of working it out :
1.I Do
2.A Tale of Two Cities
3.Every Man For Himself
4.The Cost Of Living
5.Glass Ballerina
6. Further Instructions
The last 3 were close though...
lowerstreet 01-06-2007, 03:20 AM I still think the show is quite good, and there's something in each episode that I liked. If I had to rank them...
1. A Tale of Two Cities - super beginning, and it was neat to see how Jack, Kate and Sawyer were treated differently; Jack's flashbacks were still engaging, though didn't reveal anything
2. The Glass Ballerina - good flashbacks and ending of Sun's tutor friend, excellent finale with Sun shooting Colleen, Sayid wasn't written well in this one, though, and I have mixed feelings about Sun having the affair/lying as a child; I also didn't like Ben's scene with Jack at the end
3. I Do - good action involving Jack, but the flashbacks weighed this episode down a bit. Where's the Kate who could fight back from Season 1?
4. The Cost of Living - excellent scene with Juliet and the videotape; I find Eko's backstory fascinating, but I really hated how they killed him off
5. Further Instructions - Locke had an interesting flashback, and I really liked the dream/fantasy sequence in the airport, but that horrible polar bear at the end plus the search for it was a little boring
6. Every Man for Himself - the flashbacks and Sawyer's pacemaker scare were decent, but I'm not sure I like Kate being so weak. The scenes with Locke and Nikki were not good. The revelation at the end about being on another island was underwhelming.
Maxum 01-13-2007, 09:05 AM 1. Tale of Two Cities - I thought the opening was great, but it wasn't what was best about the episode for me. I enjoyed the "darkness" of this episode. It was very different from previous Lost premieres, and I thought it was fantastic. Jack's flashback did show us a new side to him, and by the end of the episode, it showed us how he was starting to change. Matthew did a phenomenal job in this entire episode. I loved the introduction of Juliet - Elizabeth is a real find. Sawyer and Kate's dilemma was set up nicely too. I think it was smart to focus on just the three characters, contrary to what some feel. Otherwise, it would have been too much bouncing back and forth. By streamlining the storytelling from just three points of view, it really focused the drama - and danger.
2. I Do - Without a doubt, the most exciting of the episodes. It really built up the tension and drama very nicely. I had no idea what was going to happen by the episode's end. The characters and their actions were a little ambiguous. Sawyer and Kate could have been done better (still can't get them in a cage out in the open out of my head), but their final scenes together at the end was very well done and emotional. I didn't care for Kate's flashbacks though. I enjoyed watching how the Others reacted to each other and the situation: Pickett, Tom, etc. By far, the best for me was how Jack just kicked butt in this episode. I really wasn't sure what he would do after seeing Kate and Sawyer, but he totally flipped it around, surprised Juliet and Tom, and was willing to sacrifice himself for his friends. I thought the finale was very good. (I wasn't expecting a huge mid-season finale, so I wasn't as disappointed as some).
3. The Cost of Living - Great Echo episode. This episode showed how Mr. Echo actually switched from War Lord to a priest. Yet, by the end, we also find out that he never really became a priest in heart, mind, and body. It also created another mystery and question about Mr. Smokie - does it enforce island justice, depending on a person's repentence or lack thereof? It would appear that Locke and Sayid are starting to lock horns a little bit. I love how shrewd Sayid is - he doesn't miss much.
4. Every Man for Himself - This was a flashback that I wasn't too thrilled about because it didn't offer anything new about Sawyer except that he had a daughter. I found Sawyer's time on the island with Ben to be more interesting than his flashbacks. I did feel that he was swayed by Ben a little too easily. That didn't make sense for such an established con-man to fall for Ben's lie about the pacemaker so easily. Overall, it was a nice episode. I also liked how Jack was starting to use reverse psychology on Juliet in this episode.
5. The Glass Ballerina - This was another rehash about Sun and Jin. Again, I don't mind flashbacks as long as they show me something different, and they didn't show anything different. The one exception being that Sun slept with another man. This episode confirmed that suspicion, but they could have gotten to it much sooner. I did enjoy the island stuff much better. Sayid, Sun, and Jin working together, and I loved how Jin knew EXACTLY what Sayid and Sun were discussing. Why isn't Sayid allowed to make mistakes? If anything, this episode showed that he's not perfect either. That was wonderful. I loved the ending with Jack and Ben because it brought a story element from the first season "That's why the Sox will never win the world series" into a key scene in season three. Wonderful stuff. Overall, it was a good episode, but the writers spent too much time on the flashback.
6. Further Instructions - This is the episode I liked the least because, honestly, I can't figure out what the episode was about. Why all the weird imagery? I would have preferred if Boone just appeared to Locke and they spoke as friends. It would have been nice to see a real heart-to-heart between these two, considering what Locke did to him. Also, how many times are we going to find out that Locke was betrayed or a sap in his past life? I get it. I didn't understand why they did the whole Boone in the airport thing or what they were talking about. Why did Locke have to rescue Echo so badly? He was dead like days later. I thought Terry O'Quinn was excellent, as always, but the episode was too trippy for me. I didn't understand the purpose of the episode. If it was just to show Locke getting his mojo back, it could have been done much better.
HurleyForPresident 02-02-2007, 01:21 PM All about the same for me, about three-quarters up the Lost-o-meter:cool: If i had to pick one, i'd say A Tale Of Two Cities because it just opened so many windows for me, very good episode
Lost_In_NJ 02-04-2007, 02:55 PM Without a doubt, A Tale of Two Cities. What a fantastic opening for the new season. It hooked me immediately.
penyours 02-05-2007, 03:55 AM Interesting how Glass Ballerina is so far behind in the poll and yet for most of the rankings, this episode it is generally in the middle and doesn't have that many last place rankings.
I think TGB is being underrated in the polls as well
. Sun shooting Colleen has the potential to have many consequences in the future, Jack's Red Sox scene is in this epi.
I went with I Do. There was a lot of action in this episode, from Jack in the OR to Sawyer and Kate at the hands of the Others. Itr as a good episode, although I am going to say that it was overhyped.

I think TGB is really underrated too. The ending is spectacular. If there was a second place choice, I would have voted for it, but ATOTC is still my favorite of the mini-season. :)

Definately underrated, for once Lost had me on the edge of my seat with the Sun/Colleen scene on the boat. Brilliant episode.
lostlocke 02-06-2007, 10:01 AM Further instructions, because it was a locke flashback of course! Although I don't usually judge them by whose flashbacks they are, however the first 6 episodes seemed to me like they all kind of jelled together. None of them really stood out to me. They were all great don't get me wrong though!
Passport 02-06-2007, 10:19 AM "The Glass Ballerina" is my favourite episode from the mini-season. As has been pointed out by other posters, the Sun/Colleen scene from the episode was absolutely shocking. Sun pulling the trigger was one of those "OMG" moments like Locke in his wheelchair from 'Walkabout' apart from this time a character who has always acted in a certain way has done something completely unexpected! That is character development right there, it was a shame that Sun's story wasn't followed up.
Also, "The Glass Ballerina" had the strongest set of flashbacks in the mini-season. Sun having an affair, definately something I didn't think Sun was capable of. We also see the consequences of crossing Sun's dad...
I can't wait for the next Sun episode!
Dan23X 02-06-2007, 10:03 PM 1: I Do
2: Every Man For Himself
3: The Glass Ballerina
4: The Cost of Living
5: A Tale of Two Cities
6: Further Instructions
Sarah Mai 02-10-2007, 02:04 AM I would like to give the Glass Ballerina some credit too. I voted for it because I love all of Sawyers great remarks. He really gets under Pickett's skin. Although I didn't enjoy the backstory as much as others I thought the ending was really great too. I really liked seeing The Others and the new characters introduced so the episodes that focused on that side of the story were my favorites.
1) The Glass Ballerina
2) I Do
3) A Tale of Two Cities
4) Every Man for Himself
5) The Cost of Living
6) Further Instructions
carrieres 02-11-2007, 02:01 PM Further instructions! Because it was a John Locke flashback (my favorite character ! ;)). I was disappointed by the rest of the season ... :frown:
keane2097 02-14-2007, 11:46 PM There weren't any good eps in the mini-series. Signs of improvement, but a long way to go...
Ekosystem2112 02-15-2007, 10:50 PM Hmmm... The Cost of Living and I Do were good episodes, but the mini season was disappointing. It's hard to feel momentum building when an episode focuses on one group (Hydra Station) while disregarding the one from the previous episode (Beach folk). It was too fragmented to feel like a whole. And why wasn't Not In Portland part of this "mini-season"? It would have given it some kind of closure. Once the DVDs come out, the 6 episode mini season disappears.
Helen_ 02-16-2007, 11:45 AM My favourite is A Tale of Two Cities, I loved it so much. I Do was definitely one of the greatest episodes ever too, but TOTC is special for me.
jellyfrog 02-19-2007, 09:36 AM LOL, this is sad! I had so much trouble remembering much about any of those episodes. :undecide: I even had to go look up "Every Man for Himself" because I drew a total blank on that one.
Okay, so overall they weren't particularly memorable for me and didn't have much of an emotional impact, but I'd say "Cost of Living" was the best because of the Eko flashback. He was an amazing character.
ratinaskinnerbox 02-20-2007, 10:22 AM 1. Every man for himself
2. A Tale of two cities
3. The cost of living
4. I Do
5. Further Instructions
6. The glass ballerina
EMFH is my top because Benry and his shakey rabbit abuse was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long while! (Is my sense of humour really that warped?!)
I've also got a very soft spot for Sawyer so any episode with extra Sawyer quota does it for me!!!
DefenderOfMen 02-20-2007, 12:10 PM LOL, this is sad! I had so much trouble remembering much about any of those episodes. :undecide: I even had to go look up "Every Man for Himself" because I drew a total blank on that one.
I had to look up "Every Man for Himself" as well. (Even though I voted for it as my favorite episode)
Once I remembered the epi, I realized why I liked it.
A) Sawyer episode
B) My off-the-cuff "theory" to my roomie (that there were two islands) proved right (a first for me)
C) Lots happened in that episode
