As I'm curious about the Catholic imagery in the episode (re: The Feast of the Ascension... and the dearth of Catholic references in LOST in general), I noticed that when Kate is trying on her wedding gown, to the immediate right of her mirror is one of the fourteen 'Stations of the Cross.' By looking carefully at this painting and the five words above it, it indicates that the station in particular is Station Nine (IX): JESUS FALLS THE THIRD TIME. Symbolically, this could relate to the state of Kate's life in general, as the painting is a pretty deliberate placement by the writers and producers.

Or could it be the SIXTH Station instead? (Where Simon helps Jesus carry his cross?)

In Catholic churches (from my experience), you don't simply hang paintings of the stations in attached rooms or vestibules (antechambers); the Stations are usually hung in the main room of a church, for worshippers to meditate upon, walking the length of the circumference of the room, stopping at each painting in sequence and regarding all fourteen Stations in order. The fourteen stations of the cross commemorate Jesus' journey to Cavalry, and the Passion of Christ (his suffering and crucifixion)...

Interesting?

I have noticed a lot of Catholic imagery/references throughout the series as well, but never picked up on this. Very applicable...as the Stations of the Cross usually are...anywhere there is suffering, one can associate it with Jesus' passion.
