I was looking through the screen caps from The Pilot and I noticed that when Kate first emerges from the jungle and meets Jack she has a bruise on her face.The bruise is shaped like a 5 .You could also say it looks like an S or 8 I suppose.

Here is the picture I am talking about.It is easiest to see the shape of the bruise when picture is fully blown up.

5 is very significant in this part of the episode.Jack has a five tattooed on his arm which is atleast partially visable for most of the scene where Kate sews him up.Also this is the scene where Jack talks to Kate about counting to 5 when you are scared.

It is also odd that the camera seems , in the early episodes, to often shoot showing the side of Kate's face that does not have a bruise.

The bruise is not visible in later scenes like when she is talking to Jack later that night about how the plane crashed.(the scene where he is flying the leaf plane.)

It may be nothing at all but I just thought it was odd that this bruise would be shaped like a 5.I had never noticed it before.I thought her only injuries were on her wrists.

Actually I think it's just dirt though and it's smeared on her face because she's been crying. That's why you don't see it later because she probably washed her face. :)

I do not think it is anything intentional. Someties a smudge is just a smudge.
